Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,444) (82,445) by Terna from Nigeria
What kinda ears do you have? TTF is the weakest song of Pharrell's career, a sorry excuse for a song and a total waste of space that should have been given to "When I Feel It". Heck even "Secret Love" and " Sprung" are much stronger tracks than that senseless incomplete mess of a demo that should have been left at that. Everything about it sounds all over the place, thrown together and incomplete. I would describe it as a wrinkle on a perfectly ironed shirt and that high note run at the end didn't fool us lambs. Imagine if it had been released as first single. Disaster.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,393) (82,397) by Terna from Nigeria
My first impression was when I bought the album on the 8th of April 2005, and spent the rest of the weekend listening to it and even then I could tell that album was gonna bring Mariah back to the top. By the time We Belong Together started playing I recall saying out loud when the chorus hit "she's singing again" ). Her voice being front and center on the Emancipation album was what I noticed immediately. Lord knows Charmbracelet though lyrically strong was vocally disappointing. So it was shocking to hear "the voice" back in all its glory, unapologetically, powerful sustains and all. Then the production, just wow. Jermaine at his best, Kanye at his best. Big Jim Wright too. A well put together, well sequenced body of work that has never left my playlist. When I got my first smartphone guess which album I purchased first from iTunes? Yeah that's right "The Emancipation of Mariah Carey".

Re: I Don't Vevo views (82,210) (82,246) by Terna from Nigeria
Oh yeah I noticed. And they love to feature a lot of Mariah's material in [general], both [live] performances and studio recordings. I also see them all over Instagram. Mariah's really benefitting from this social media age like she really connects with the younger generation with all her "Mariahisms", the "I don't know her" and its sequel "I still don't know her". Lol. And the tea incident earlier this year. Everything she does is intriguing and entertaining to them and that's definitely a good thing. I remember I was like that too.

Currently at 22 million. How did it jump in just a few months? Guess Miss Carey has a new hoard of tiny lambies. Lol.

I'm so so proud of Mariah. This is a major step for her and to think she suffered in silence alone for so long. Wow. For someone of her caliber this is a big step she's taken. She's truly in a good place right now and her healing has begun. I'm so glad her true Lambily showed her love through her darkest times and continues to today. It must have been what kept her going. Much love Mariah.

The new commercial is quite funny [and] had me chuckling. A formidable diva. I love that she's able to poke fun at herself and those silly rumours from the past. Did you guys catch the Daydream lp being handed to the DJ?

Me Myself and Mariah (81,289) by Terna from Nigeria
That was an interesting article. And yes she seems genuinely happy and confident in herself it reflects through the way she answers the questions. It's also obvious she's experienced in the industry, but has also moved with the times, the way she compares the current state as to how things used to be. And I love how she low-key shaded the Grammys. Lol. Mariah's back and I'm loving this Mariah. I'm quite excited about what she has in store. That album is gonna drop sooner than we think. Did I mention that I love the magazine cover? Just beautiful.

Re: Obsessed (80,899) (80,905) by Terna from Nigeria
Lovely post I couldn't have said it better, Mariah to me has been uninspired for quite a while, you can hear it in the recent musical efforts, also I think Whitney's passing also played a big part in how she's just totally lost all motivation, I think she's conscious of the fact that she is truly the last of the greats so to speak, and the pressure to deliver must be stifling. Jermaine said it best when he said "when it's time for the voice to be heard she's the one to sing" and then there's motherhood, priorities change that's life. All in all I'm just glad Mariah is still around and all she's accomplished is no small feat. You cannot speak on the topic of contemporary music without mentioning Mariah Carey. So yeah I wish she could be more driven but certainly not losing sleep over it but I'm always gonna be here for her, supporting her and her ventures and new music, whenever she feels like she's got something to say through music.

As Mariah would put it "got foiled" last night at the Grammys ceremony. Sza too and a host of others. Congrats to Alessia Cara for the "Best New Artist" win. This whole award show is just so tired.

Re: Best music video? (80,698) (80,728) by Terna from Nigeria
"Breakdown" comes to mind first for me, but then again all the Butterfly videos were standouts. Also "Vision of Love" (powerful introduction), "Through the rain", "It's Like that/We belong together" combos and "When You Believe" with the late great Whitney Houston.

Re: Mariah's most inspiring song (80,620) (80,645) by Terna from Nigeria
For me that would be "Through The Rain" because that song was written in the moment, when she had hit rock bottom so to speak. It's a powerful song and most people don't even realise one of her numerous signature songs. On a personal level, it pulled me through dark times and I still spin it ever so often today and I feel Mariah's own life today is testament to the message of that song. The dark clouds have passed, she indeed has made it through the rain.

Re: Interesting question (80,593) (80,594) by Terna from Nigeria
Listen again. It's all over Daydream and the live performances from that era. I personally started hearing it in her voice around the "Merry Christmas" album. It's a bridge between chest voice and head voice different note for every voice and when a singer transitions through quickly, there's a click sound there (I think Alicia Keys exaggerates it in her debut song "Fallin"). In Mariah's voice however there's a part in her mid register where its just a succession of "clicks". So to speak. Lol. Even on her recordings,"Oh Holy Night", "My All" etc. Other singers I've heard who have it noticeably are Deborah Cox, Tamar Braxton, Alicia keys and Beyonce I think not sure.

Studio picture (80,537) by Terna from Nigeria
I'm excited to see her back doing what she loves most which is creating new music. Just glad she's still here and going on strong, look around many of the greats are gone but she's still here, been through alot but she's still the Mariah Carey I fell in love with. Besides I'm yet to be disappointed with any studio album she's released so far, when does she not deliver? Lyrically, Musically, vocally and production wise always on point everytime. I sense a "Butterfly" hybrid cooking.

New album (80,408) by Terna from Nigeria
Remember that Facebook live feed she did last year where she was so hyper? Someone recorded it and uploaded to YouTube. Well, during the filming I think someone asked "Mariah, when is the new album dropping?" and she's was taken aback by that question and really didn't want to answer it. Lol. So yeah maybe she's just Netflix and chilling with dem kids. Someone in the comments section was like, "Mariah when is the new album dropping?" and she replies "3025 darlings." Haha.

Marc Shaiman (80,349) by Terna from Nigeria
She's done a whole Christmas album with him and a few songs here and there and it got me wondering, what would it sound like for them creating love songs and ballads, like with Walter Afanansief in the past? So far I love all the songs they've done especially "The Star" but all are kinda Christmas related. Maybe he's the new Walter.

Re: New Mariah (80,335) (80,348) by Terna from Nigeria
Speaking of the "ball of wax" in the music industry, it got me thinking, could Mariah be coming for Tommy's head and then there's Clive with the TLC "Crazy Sexy Cool" era situation but L.A Reid is kinda involved in that mess and he's Mariah's friend. Now that would be something to watch unravel.

"Love Yourself" (80,087) by Terna from Nigeria
A song by Mary J. Blige "Thought they put my life on hold, but I knew something they didn't know." That line glared out at me the minute I heard it and she repeats it again as the song progresses. It's also very cryptic. Give it a spin tell me what you think and with her very public recent divorce, I hope she's ok. After Mariah Carey, it's definitely Mary for me. Just reflecting and pondering on the past 20 plus years thereabout. Happy Holidays MCA family.

It's going all the way to number 1, I mean how bizarre would that be? Another record breaking first for Mariah. A record released 23 years ago. Fingers crossed.

And this time it's for my favorite song from "Memoirs" and in my opinion, her version the best cover - "I Want to Know What Love is". This is so cool, This is a special Christmas for Mariah Carey.

Re: "Charmbracelet" anniversary (79,621) (79,632) by Terna from Nigeria
I agree this era was very pivotal to "The Emancipation Of Mimi" era, this was the time Mariah took a step back, and reassessed everything, plans were made in this time on how she was gonna take back that no. 1 spot. She also started caring for her instrument more and it showed. If I'm not mistaken the term "lamb" was coined in this era for her cult following. And we each have a charmbracelet to prove it so to speak - the album. Lol.
