Like does she expect Mariah to go "Hey, I am Mariah Carey, I was a background singer to the great Brenda K Mart and she helped me get my CD to Tommy Mottola." Mariah has mentioned this story many times but she can't be expected to always mention Brenda everywhere. She might have given Mariah the opportunity to give the demo to Tommy, but Mariah became the legend she is on her own iconic talent. Biannual appreciation post for Triumphant (85,638) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter This is my 50th post (slightly exaggerated) to show my love and appreciation for Triumphant. Every time I go back and listen to that song, I love it and get chills. Triumphant remains one of Mariah's best songs, y'all can fight me over this. Honest to Lord if this isn't the modern hip hop thug life version of "Hero", I don't know what is (controversial line right there, I know). But seriously though this song is amazing. I know it flopped because it was a "lead turned buzz single" of a Mariah album after a long time and featured Mariah as only a hook/chorus girl, but it's still an amazing song. It sounds fresh but at the same time it sounds like it pays homage to some of her older songs that I love. Sound wise "Cruise Control", TMB, and like someone from the listening party said "SIO on steroids". Lyrics wise it reminds me of her more boss babe/diss tracks. Like "Obsessed", SIO and Someday/Prisoner (mostly because of the "I'm too good for you" vibes) and of course we have the club feels of "Migrate". If they don't release this as the next single with a proper push and music video (and do lambs dirty like Migrate) I will riot. The Shapiro line is iconic and fierce. My other favorites are "Snakes on the grass, it's time to cut the lawn". and "irregardless of what transpired, it ain't even worthy of a slick reply". And of course the boss babe "I'll be on the stage with the stadium light up" gives me "I'm the press conference, you're a conversation" vibes. I think this whole track is directed at Stella, since Stella was the snake and isn't worth her attention or a slick reply. And also because even after Stella tried to ruin Mariah's reputation, she's still out there selling out venues for concerts. (Thursday 1 November 2018; 15:10)

First of all she didn't dress up as Mariah, she dressed up as a contestant from shows like "The Bachelor", not any particular contestant but a made up one. Secondly, even if she had dressed up as Mariah, Mariah would find it funny since it wasn't done in a malicious manner or to make fun of her, Ellen often wears her fake boobs and persona to dress up as different celebrities like Sofia Vergara, a made up Kardashian JLo (while JLo was with her), Nicki Minaj and so on. These celebs that she dresses up as are usually also on her show while she is dressed as them and they find it hilarious too. Ellen also "dressed up" as Sofia Vergara with the dress ripped from behind to imitate the incident when Sofia dress tore off near her butt during an award show. And as for someone dressing up as Ellen, Kate McKinnon already did it on Ellen's show (Wednesday 31 October 2018; 17:31)
