Mariah never lied or let anyone on (105,921)

I too loved Eternal Sunshine. I didn't like a couple of the songs on the album, including Yes and. I wish Mariah and Ari could have worked on an original song together and not just a remix. I could definitely hear Mariah being on a song like Bye, or The Boy is Mine. Also True Story (sonically not lyrically, could have been on Caution). For any of you lambs that may have heard Ariana's new album, which song could you imagine Mariah singing or collaborating with her on?

I'm just a fan who reads the signs. That's as much as I can say. It's too bad all the lambs and Ariana fans didn't support the YAR more because it could've really carried Mariah through the summer with a song on the radio and streaming platforms. I listened to Ari's new album and I think it's fantastic. She's incorporating a lot of R&B that's been missing in big pop music as of late. I now know that if Mariah would work with Max Martin for an album it would sound magical. Mariah commented on Ariana's post saying she will be listening to the album the moment it drops. I wonder if her kids are big fans of Ari and are the reason Mariah is more interested in her music? If so it could open the doors to a lot more new producers, sounds and ideas. I would love if Mariah had a new body of work in the vide of Eternal Sunshine. It just sounds so organic and not pushed or over produced.

I'm sitting here watching TV and all of a sudden I hear Hero playing. It is for a trailer for Cabrini (I don't know if the movie is any good or not), but anyway, it's cool to see another Mariah song being used to promote a movie. We had Fantasy in Free Guy, ABMB in ABMM, and now Hero in Cabrini.

Release (105,879)
by Tevin from USA
| |
|
|
Personally I don't see a problem with Taylor doing what she is doing. 1. It's just business. 2. No one is forcing her fans to purchase those extra albums. 3. Please re read point #2, no one is holding a gun to her fans heads and making them buy the items. If they don't want the items, great don't buy them, if they do want the items to support Taylor, then cool buy the triple release deluxe version of a reissued album (lol, you get the point). I have adult female friends who are obsessed with Taylor swift, they say they have no problem spending their hard earned money on this stuff. Now when it comes to younger teens or kids who may be influenced to spend money on all this reissued Taylor albums, well if their parents are cool with it, great, but if they aren't, then they should do like my parents did for me when I was young, and told me, no, or find a way to save up to buy something. Basically what I'm saying is, Taylor isn't doing anything wrong. She found a way to continue to leverage her brand. It's just business, and no one is forcing anyone to continue to buy or support her stuff. If anything blame the fans. Shoot how many projects have Mariah done that fans bought in to, for her to then drop it like it never existed, at least Taylor sees her stuff through to fruition. Anyway enough about her, back to Mariah. Where's MC 16 at?

Release (105,872)
by Libra Lamb from USA

I gotta say that Taylor Swift releasing so many versions of an album is a total cash grab. To each heir own but I'm my opinion, it's disgusting that anyone would do that to their fans and take advantage of them like this. I can understand a deluxe version with new tracks but anything more than that is just unnecessary. I'm glad I'm not a fan because I work hard for my money and would not want to spend it like this. Don't even get me started on the recycling of entire albums. I know why she did it but I still don't like it. I don't have a rich mom and dad to pay for my 4 versions of the same album. With inflation and everything being so expensive, some can't afford to pay rent much less buy a house in this country. Just gross. Anyways, we love everyone.

I see many lambs lambasting JLo's latest effort but don't forget that we may be in dwindling numbers. See the support to Yes, and? Only 20k and lambs alone cannot procure that in the US. What about The Rarities, yeah it's a compilation album but they are new unreleased songs. Mariah is not a selling act anymore. And let's not pretend that she is not a declining artist. It's natural for them to have diminishing returns as they age.

I think her confidence would be much higher and thus likely to release music more often, do more live performances and be in the spotlight a lot more. It's a shame we have to go so long without hearing new music but we'll always have her extensive catalogue and nobody will take that away or forget her. She should be studied in Music School, I believe some already have. The Mariah Carey course has a nice ring to it. She's unique in a lot of ways, always imitated but never duplicated. My all time favorite artist.

I think it's inevitable that every artist reaches a point where they are no longer mainstream. It's just a natural process, new artists come along and people's focus switches. The thing Mariah has on her side is that she's part of an elite group that are considered the last legacy artists, or real artists. Everything these days is so manufactured and people forget about you easily these days. Fame is short lived and there's no longevity. The likes of Mariah, Celine, Whitney and Janet to name but a few were probably the last divas we will have and it's nice that they are etched in time. They are lucky that they are still relevant in the media as many others have been forgotten about.

It is supposedly a pop/upbeat song. I don't think it is a remix, it is a proper collaboration. I just hope it is either one of their first singles, not just a promo/buzz single. If it gets the proper Cardi B treatment as her first single it will definitely have a video and it'll definitely chart high (opening week at least). I'm excited for Mariah to go back to her uptempo first single formula.

Ok the question that I'm about to ask isn't ment to cause negativity or shade. Since we have been talking about Mariah's career tragetory and eras the last few weeks, I started to ask myself this question, and I'm curious to hear everyone's opinion. If Mariah's voice did not deteriorate (she can still sing by the way), do you think her career tragetory would have been different (from where we are currently at now), or do you think it was inevitable that she would be put in "legacy" status, due to her age, and ageism in the industry?

TEOM era will probably the last great era (105,769)
by Tevin from USA
| |
|

Most people never have that level of success in their music careers. The fact that Mariah ruled the 90s and then had that amazing era in 05-06 (I'd even include 07, because of the TMB hype), was truly a blessing for her. All I hope for, is for one more top ten hit single and solid well crafted music/albums after that. I really want to see more of Mariah the artist and not just Mariah the "number one Hot 100 chaser", or half hearted just throw some music out there singer (looking at you Save the Day). I'd say, it's time to start experimenting with different sounds and types of music and or keep releasing back catalog vault items.

I am not trying to sound negative, but I believe that the TEOM era will probably be the last great era. The TEOM era made people take notice of MC again. The era had everything that every artist wants: a multiple plantinum album, top charting hit singles, a sold-out tour, gorgeous and well-thought out videos, multiple awards, brillant performances, and magazine covers galore. I don't think the MC16 era or subsequent eras will give us that type of era ever again.

So true, yes he was one of the main reasons why TEOM was a success, but I could never forgive him (and Mariah) for not releasing Migrate as the second single of E=MC2. Did anyone ever mention on here that Migrate should have been a single? Lol.
Also how did he botch the MOIA roll out? Obsessed was a great first single choice.

So while during TEOM he was magical, I don't think LA still has the same magic. First of all he absolutely botched E=MC2 and MOAIA promo/roll out. Then when Mariah rejoined him in Epic he said she should do covers only and basically become a legacy artist. Telling a woman who considers songwriting her primary talent to just cover other people's song was probably a blow to Mariah. That's my 2 cents so no I don't think he is the right person now.

I remember coming to this board for years with people asking for an up tempo Mariah pop song with big vocals. Even Max Martin produced. Some even suggested the impossible, that she's on a track with Ariana Grande. Now we have exactly what everyone has asked for and the success it could find going into the top 10 would be huge. Streaming is easy. Buying is too but this is the day to do it. I've made it easy with two links for us here. Ariana's website and Amazon's new release page.

General public or bad decisions (105,617)
by Tevin from USA
| |
|
|
Personally I think life just happens. At least in respect to the post TMB era. Had Mariah not ran off with Nick, had LA Reid not stupidly picked Bye Bye over Migrate, and had Mariah not disappeared because of tragic events (miscarriage) which is completely understandable, she could have kept up the promotion of E=MC2, which was still a great album in the eyes of the public. I mean Obsessed did well and so did Beautiful, so at the GP was still crazy about Mariah. I think it just came down to a few bad decisions by the Corporate Morgue, and Mariah (right or wrong) not putting 100% into stuff because she wanted to start her family life, which is great. I'm sure she would give up a ton of her success just to have the blessing of having two wonderful kids.
Anyway I always wondered, had Mariah not met Nick and fully stayed in "work mode", had the E=MC2 tour happened, I would think that Mariah would have definitely ruled the charts at least until the mid 2010s, rather than fading away in 08, with a small popular blip in 09 and 13 respectively.
Man oh man, I wish the E=MC2 concert would have happened. Imagine the hype and party feel that would have brought. Can you imagine the high notes from Migrate kicking in and opening the show. Shoot maybe Mariah would have went full or mostly pop then afterwards, instead of slow mid tempo RnB that she went back to.

General public or bad decisions (105,612)
by Jamie from UK
| |
|
|
I'm sat here and a thought came into my head regarding Mariah and her career. For the majority of the 1990's Mariah could do no wrong, she was America's sweetheart and had countless number one songs and albums. People took her into their hearts and adored her. From 1997 she made what some call a drastic change in musical direction and lost some of her core fanbase as a result. However she continued to have number one songs and albums even through a difficult time with Sony and Tommy Mottola. Why was it then that during her most difficult time in her life in 2001 did people turn their backs on her? Surely someone who they had grown to love had spent so long adoring her and buying her music would want to support her during this difficult time. Glitter and Charmbracelet failed to sell anywhere near what she would normally sell. My point is, is it the general public who turn on an artist so quickly, is it the music industry and media that set current trends what is a hit and what the people want or is it bad decisions made by Mariah the artist. For me it's just difficult to understand how such a quick switch in popularity can happen with someone who was literally a force of nature at one point. Firstly I don't think the whole Glitter film helped her persona one bit, 9/11 didn't help but the film just wasn't good enough 9/11 or not. The album or soundtrack is great but in hindsight should it have been left on the shelf once the film tanked to help control the damage from the film and save her also having a music flop too which was unheard of at the time. Would her next album then have been more well received by the public. For me I like Charmbracelet but it feels almost like a complete different body of work to the rest of her catalogue (present and past included) the whole vibe is just different. Were bad decisions made by Mariah creatively should she have come back with an upbeat track ala Fantasy/Honey mode and had less rappers on the album, it would be interesting to see if the Glitter album hadn't been released and she had come back with a stronger album (maybe a combination of Glitter tracks and new ones and called it something else) how her popularity would have been at that time and now. Or had the public already turned their backs on her and changed their view of her as a person. Obviously we had Emancipation but that was very short lived, and since then with the exception of Touch My Body and Christmas she hasn't got anywhere near the popularity she should have had. Do you think the general public just doesn't warm to her anymore, is it Mariah's decisions of music creativity or the way her persona has come across post 2001, or do you think it's the music industry making wrong decisions for her career? We can't change what happens but sometimes it's interesting to put a different spin on how we think things could have gone or been. Would love to hear your views and where you think things went wrong or could have been different for her.

Well right now, as of their prediction is the song will come in at #11 with a 48% increase from last weeks chart placement. We know that an over 50% increase automatically gives the remix a new credit. So by getting it into the top 10 this week will mean it did go over 50% of an increase from last week, hence the credit. But we only really have today to Thursday morning to do it. So stream now like never before. Buy the remix single off Airana's website. Because next week we know it's going down. This week is the best chance for a Top 10.

If you download the iTunes app. Or on your computer go to the iTunes website, you can purchase the song for a dollar. You have to put in your credit card number. The song will automatically go into a folder in your iTunes app called "my library". It's really simple if you try. You can also buy it from Amazon, just make sure it's the remix version. It's right on the edge of being #11 on the Hot 100, and being #10. Predictions have it at #11 missing the top 10 by literally one point. So we can push the needle today with more sales, more streams. Today's the day. Go get em.

Yes, And? lyrics (105,545)
by Tevin from USA
| |
|
|
Sorry I don't agree with you. Some people like listening to songs around their young children. One of the reasons why I became a fan of Mariah was because my parents used to play her music all the time around me as I grew up. If she cussed up a storm back in the 90s and early 2000s, my parents would not have played her music around me and guess what, I probably would not have become a fan.
My point is, it's easy to look at it through adults eyes, but some people may not like to play explicit lyrics around their kids. Also (this isn't always the case), but I find more and more in today's music that lyrical content has become so lazy now that cussing and other explicitness can be freely said in music. There's one thing to have a strong emotion behind a song to use a cus word, there's a completely different reason to just be lazy and throw in words here and there, because you formulate a strong thought or emotion into a lyric. Basically what I'm saying is that many popular songs have lost their depth.

Basically, if Mariah likes it, then I like it. Consider the records a gift. One day MC will no longer be here and they've sat there complaining and waiting for projects that will never come. Instead, they could be more supportive and be grateful, it shouldn't be hard for her biggest fans. If they can't do that it's ok but, with all due respect, maybe it's time to move on.

How long before you think the oversaturation will catch up to her (Taylor). It's like they know Midnights was not that great, but they are trying to milk it for all its worth.

JLo is out at the Bronx singing CDs at target. Bless her heart her 300m followers weren’t enough, but lol MC and Ariana should totally start selling signed copies to maximize the sales. Side note Taylor Swift has been revealing new bonus tracks here and there and her fans are kinda tired at this point of her capitalizing of them. She sold atleast 3 different versions of Midnights, then all the rereleases and now the new album looks like will have different versions too.

Hahah I get your feelings and I too will be happy with a top 5 top 10 so that it positions Mariah really well for her next release but if it goes to #1, that'll be icing on the cake. I know it's a polarizing song, but a #1 is a #1 haha. I mean 4 of Mariah's #1s have been about her wanting to have sex lol (Honey, Fantasy, My All and TMB), 5th too if you count Emotions. The last collab she had was literally about having Big D Energy. Lol so I'll take whatever win we can have.

So the remix is a lot better than the original song. I hope Mariah and Ariana have a lot of success with this song. I don't mean to be negative but there's this part of me that hopes it cracks the top 10 or even top 5 on Billboard, but not reach number one. I just don't like the song or the message at all. Like I said Mariah added depth to the song that it was missing, and other than the bad mixing on the pre and first chorus everything songs great, uh, I don't know, I just feel like this song shouldn't be attached to the brilliant songs that make up the other 19. Call it single/song impostor syndrome, idk. Anyway on a positive note, I have been trying to stream it in the background to help. I do hope they both work on an original song together in the future and not just remakes.
Also, as a YouTuber said in his reaction of yes and, Mariah has started off belting in a song since 1996 lol, so I was happy and presently surprised that she was belting in full chest voice throughout the song and sounding great too.
