What do you think makes Mariah happy these days? For me, in no particular order, I think it's spending time with her twins, engaging with her fans, business endeavors, music (but not in the "make an album every 2 years" way, a "I love music, and will engage it how I please, when I please" way) and having fun.

I agree with this thread in its entirety. Some people dress it up in purported "concern", but I didn't hear much of that when MC was robbed.

Janet and Madonna didn't have 5% of the record, direct quotes back and forth animosity that Madonna and Mariah did. Look up the quotes.

Stacey, don't know if you were referring to me, but it's not "putting him down" to merely tell the truth - that she had 15 #1s without him, all of his (writing credit) #1s were with her, he has zero written credit #1s withouto her (did have 1 production credit #1 though), he hasn't written a #1 hit in over 2 decades and that they had a nice run together. That's it. Not putting him down, just accurately describing his career.

They had a nice run for sure. She had 15 #1 hits that he was not credited on, so I don't think "she would have had half her career without him", as Terna said, is accurate. He had zero #1 songs that he wrote (did have 1 produced) without her. That's not a diss or bringing him down, those are merely the true stats.

They had a nice run together a couple of decades ago. To level set and stick to the facts, he has co-writing credits on 4 of her 19 #1 hits. And those are the only #1 hits of his writing career (despite writing many other songs with good artists). He also has a production #1 song with Celine.
He had a nice, and lucrative career, with 100% of his #1 hits (writing or producing) having been done in the 90s.

Your reading comprehension is off, way off, based on many of your replies to me, including your last one. You also skipped the part where there were 8 posts from "fans" laughing about whether she had MS or some other disease. I'll let you have the last word because I'm bored with you.

"That was whole point, no one ever said anything bad about her songwriting so I don't even know how Lady B came to that egregious conclusion."
I will try to land this plane one more time. I never said anyone spoke poorly about her songwriting. I merely said that when folks are commenting on her vocab, they should consider how excellent her writing is, which clearly shows a strong vocab. Get it? I'm really trying to color by numbers for you here - it's not that folks said bad things about her writing, it's that they didn't consider it at all when commenting on her vocab.

Yup, and not one of those comments "stayed on topic" as you told me to to do whilst ine was closer to. Most of it were ad hominem attacks (again, as always), whereas mine brought it back to the topic - vocab. You (and Stacey) always fall back on "longtime fans", but I'm not sure that "hahaha, maybe she has MS" and the like is a good way of showing it. Just one gal's opinion, though, I guess you think since you bought a cassette tape in the 90s that it gives you liberty to attack, attack, attack daily on a fan site.
Also let me spell it out for you - your point, to the extent you stayed on topic, was that her vocab is bad because she occasionally uses phrases you don't like. My point was simply, obviously her vocab is great because in addition to whatever phrases she uses when not working, she writes incredibly. Your [sic] saying you never said she wasn't a good writer is inapposite, I said she was and is, and it shows how strong her vocab is.
Also you and others used your thread to shoot her down on nonsensical and ad hominem attacks, per usual. You do you, I guess.

"The topic was about her conversational vocabulary, not her songwriting." - Bill
Some recent replies in the same thread, having nothing to do with her vocab:
"I'm like, why use those heels at all? She claims to be tall. Show us."
"I saw some people asking on social platforms if MC has some sort of a walking disability."
"It could be true. She may have a debilitating illness like MS, arthritis, Parkinson's etc. but just hasn't announced it publicly. Would answer a lot of questions."
"Gosh, I suffer from anxiety and I walk on my own all day, everyday. Maybe I should share my secret for walking all by my awesome self with Mariah's people"
"Lol. But Stacey I see people being escorted down stairs all the time and say to myself 'there goes another anxious person', do you not see this every day occurrence where you live? Lol. This is a new one I'll have to add to my collection of excuses for the future." - Bill
I'm sure this is all just positive love of longtime fans, who happen to stay on topic.

Given her induction into the song writers HOF and 19 #1s, I think her vocabulary is just fine but I know I'm in the minority on this message board.

Bill, I appreciate that positive energy, really do. Only quip would be I found much of the "well being" posts re: HOF speech a bit pejorative and off the mark. Those who thought it was manic likely have never seen mania firsthand. That was my main issue, along with ad hominem attacks on the queen thinly veiled as "caring". Love is not blind allegiance, in fact often times it's tough honesty, but there are many on this board who are not coming from that place (as you appear to be). Just one person's opinion.

You do realize who came up with the term goat in this context, right? Hint: she's an amazing singer/songwriter. So when you criticize the term, you're criticizing her, which is very on brand for how negative folks are here a lot of the time.

You are entitled to your opinion, and I am allowed to criticize that opinion. Comparing a performance to a speech is willfully obtuse, in my opinion. Obviously you disagree, which is fine.

"I hope people can see the difference between last night/Billboard speech and the SHOF speech." Yes, for starters she was singing in one and giving an acceptance speech for something she worked hard toward for 30+ years in another. I agree it's different, such a good point!
Both were amazing. I'm so proud of her. I love that she is enjoying herself after a long career of success and, frankly, no one of her peers are having this much success at 50+. It's a testament to her longevity and greatness that goats here often compare her to folks 10, 20 or 30 years her junior.
