Yeh but she promoted Crapfinity with Vision of Love and that still tanked (and rightly so).

It's a cultural thing though. Japanese audiences are always very reserved. The Tokyo Done concert is great, but the European leg of the tour was a hundred times better. Hero in London is the best performance of that song she has ever given in her entire life.

All Mariah's concerts were captured for posterity. If it was filmed then the film itself can easily be upgraded to HD quality. I was at the Daydream tour in London and they had tripods set up in front of the stage to film it, though no professional footage of that concert has ever emerged.

Indeed. My brother hates Mariah (more out of sibling necessity than anything) and always says he can't stand the song, yet I've seen him when he didn't know I was watching listening to the song with a smile on his face just like everybody else in the world does.

Why you mad Licia? Hehe. Agree her vocals have been great from the clips I've seen. Maybe she finally loosened that damn corset.

Agree, no one has ever sung it better and nobody ever will. Even my dad loves her rendition of it, and he can't stand her lol. I was playing it in the car when I was driving him home and he was like "I figured she'd sing this song well. She was made to sing songs like this" and I kind of agree with him. A voice like hers should be singing O Holy Night rather than "you're acting so corny like Fritos". We love life.

I think because the studio version is absolutely perfect, anything else would seem inferior.

That's a great video and performance, love her interaction with her children at the end. It's so clear how much they all adore each other.

Completely agree, it is much better than the original, and I love the Jackson 5, but Mariah's voice, Trey, the fact it's live, and the atmosphere of the thing really do elevate it to a level that the original can't get to.

Re: Slipping Away (91,451) (91,453)

Check out this website's very own huge discography section to answer that question. Slipping Away was only ever put out as a B-side to the Always Be My Baby CD single in the US, and the Open Arms CD single in Australia. To the best of my knowledge it never appeared on any European releases of either single, which is massively unfair, nor did it appear on any vinyl releases. I remember knowing about the song during the early days of the Internet, and how I used to read the lyrics online and wonder what it sounded like. Then, in HMV one sunny Saturday afternoon, I saw the Australian import CD of Open Arms, with the blue filtered cover. I almost passed it by, thinking it would mirror the "blue version" of the UK CD single, but when I picked up the little card sleeve and turned it over in my hand, imagine my shock to see that it had Slipping Away and the Spanish version of Open Arms on it. My dirty mitts grabbed it off the shelf so fast, I was like lightning. My heart was pounding and I started to sweat, Had I fallen so deep in my daydreams that I was imagining it? I couldn't believe my luck. I ditched my friends and used the money I had for the cinema to buy the CD (import singles were about £8, which was really expensive back then), and ran all the way home and then listened to it all weekend. Still one of my faves to this day.

No. Have you not heard Memoirs, specifically IWTKWLI? Me I Am Mariah also has several moments of belting throughout. Make It Look Good, Cry, Heavenly, YDKWTD etc.

Article: Mariah's rendition of classic Christmas tune still not old (91,388)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
"The season of giving has turned into the season of Mariah Carey, and it may have gone to her head. Carey re-released the 1994 Christmas album, now called 'Merry Christmas II You'. It includes several new covers, and a couple live tracks. It excludes 'Miss You Most at Christmas Time' and 'Jesus Born on This Day', which were the other two original pieces on the 1994 album."
There is so much wrong with that paragraph I don't know what to do.

I'm all for the anniversary edition of the debut album, with the demo tape, wherever that may be. The 30th version should be issued alongside The First Vision and full Tattoo Club performance. I know Mariah hates all the videos from the first album but we love them so much, especially Someday.

Agree, Caution is a great album because it's different and fresh and I like how easy it is to listen to the whole thing end to end, due to the short length. No offence Licia but whenever I fancy listening to CB I have to book a day off work lol. We love everybody.
