Classic Licia haha.

Re: Memoirs by Andy (91,332) (91,335) by Bill from the UK
See this is exactly what I don't want from the memoirs. The "lost" Rainbow interview and the Genius Level interviews are what makes my ears stand to attention. We know she fell out with Ben, Walter, and Damizza. We know she divorced Tommy and Nick. We know Stella was a nightmare. Who cares? I want all the unknown, unseen, unheard stuff about her as a musician. The stories behind the songs, her musical life before 1990, the technicalities behind her vocal arrangements and artistic choices she made, and her reflection on popularising the melisma singing style and pop/hip hop combination. Spilling tea about J.Lo? I do not care.

Beautiful.

Haha. I do think Licia needs special recognition as well for championing the song title Crapfinity as the preferred alternative.

Happy Birthday (exclamation mark). I will listen to CB today in your honour (sets aside 4 hours due to length of album and brews pot of coffee). I will however of course skip Boy. What a calamity that song was.

Re: SHOF (91,275) (91,277) by Bill from the UK
Agree, AIWFCIY is reason alone to be inducted, let alone all her other worldwide hit songs.

Re: St John the Divine (91,248) (91,254) by Bill from the UK
Haha Licia I love you. I love how she sounds on the concert. It's just real Mariah. She said that when at Sony everything had to be perfect, so I love that she's just put it out as it was recorded. Because it is still a great concert, all live, all sung straight through. It's phenomenal.

Nothing in Edward's message warranted such a mean spirited response as that Terna.

Re: Walkers commercial (91,227) (91,234) by Bill from the UK
Haha, yes this is better than what I was expecting. Mariah was brilliant, in every way. She looks a million dollars and she was great with the comedic aspect and sending herself up. I really, really hope all this publicity, the deluxe, the new video etc. help to give Mariah a new number 1 with AIWFCIY. No song has ever been more deserving, it is universally lauded and will be going strong long after we've all gone.

Re: St John the Divine (91,228) (91,230) by Bill from the UK
I will have to respectfully disagree here. The fact it isn't dubbed to within an inch of its life and is a pure and genuinely honest representation of that concert is what makes it so great. The undubbed Unplugged, MSG and others are so much better because it's not perfect. Imperfection is perfection. The new little ad libs and flourishes Mariah added were great, she was energetic and I love that Mariah put it on the deluxe as is, because no singer could do a concert like that. As was said earlier by someone, you truly do realise just how talented this woman is, and what a God given gift she has.

Merry Christmas Deluxe - the aftermath (91,224) by Bill from the UK
Okay. So now some time has passed and I have composed myself, let me give my thoughts. My physical version arrived yesterday, and I was so not prepared for the beautiful packaging and pictures. I opened the digipak and gasped at Mariah's beauty in those unseen shots from the original shoot. And then all these beautiful pictures in the new booklet, wow. It's a great deluxe, and now we have the new unseen footage of AIWFCIY. The original video was probably one of my faves, as Mariah had never looked more beautiful than in the snow running around like a little girl and looking like an angel. She is just perfection. What an era, and how blessed are we all to have lived this. Worth the 25 year wait.

Re: St John the Divine (91,211) (91,215) by Bill from the UK
I didn't know of the CD single version, so thanks for letting me know. I have ordered it (and also the 7-inch and cassette). Guys, the concert is better than I could ever have hoped. I was worried MC would engineer the crap out of it but it sounds raw and beautiful and perfect. What a treat and what a gift. I am so happy. I can't believe this wonderful music and singing was kept locked away for 25 years (exclamation mark).

Re: Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting (91,192) (91,195) by Bill from the UK
Thank you. I do find some people on here take things a little too seriously. In other news, can you believe we're days away from St John the Divine? I think I might pass out. Because I'm never satisfied, here's my dream for Merry Christmas - 30th Anniversary Pearl Edition:

Disc 1: Re-mastered album *however* we are now extending out all the tracks with the new vocals that have surfaced from the stems. Full versions of AIWFCIY, O Holy Night, Christmas BPCH, and that demo of Jesus Born On This Day that surfaced then got removed by Sony (thanks for that lol). Also both versions of God Rest Ye Merry Gents.

DVD Blu-Ray: St John the Divine and all the videos.

Disc 3: Mariah's original rendition of Where Are You Christmas and, for the hell of it, MCIIY, for completeness, with Star and Lil Snowman, even though they are dreadful lol.

Disc 4: JTTW and AIWFCIY remixes.

Disc 5: Track by track commentary from MC about why she chose each song and the stories behind them.

Wait a minute, am I one of the three? If so, yikes. And if so, can I be Karen please? Lol. I've said plenty of positive things about Mariah, and I've never ganged up on anyone here. I do however call our delusional fans, as that's not healthy.

Here here. Licia you are a lovely, funny, warm and kind person and I know this only through interacting with you on this message board, so you must be even better in real life. I love that you hate every song Mariah ever did yet are still one of her biggest fans haha. Much love and respect to you.

The US promotional single included this version on it. It was the "radio version", though not stated as such.

This sounds like it could have been the demo, don't you think? Love the extra "a shining star" line towards the end. As happy as I am with the 2CD anniversary edition of Merry Christmas, including jewels like this would have been ultra amazing. Thank God for YouTube.
