About Haiji Toro from USA:
• I have been a fan/lamb of her music since "Vision of Love" (Apollo). • Favorite Mariah song is "Love Takes Time". I love the live version. • Favorite Mariah album is Butterfly. I was 16 and in a tough time in my life. The song "Outside" had a great impact in my life. It opened my eyes to life. It felt relieving to hear words I've already known so well, and someone actually understood how I felt. Overall, the entire album is flawless, in my opinion. • Favorite Mariah movie gotta be Glitter. I'm an 80's baby, so no diss, but I'm used to the corny dialogue and inexperienced acting. That movie definitely gave me a throwback vibe. It was very entertaining though and the soundtrack is very underrated.
•I'm Colombian & Palestinian, raised in the USA. •I think I'm Mariah when in the shower. •Spiritual, one of those "I love everyone", type of guy.

I believe she has a few jazz influenced songs, but the main one that stands out for me would be "Subtle Invitation", which is one of my favorites off that album.

That was a nice interview, thank you. I like that she didn't shade anyone and still kept it real, especially with Madonna. I enjoy both of their music in different ways and it's good to hear that she respects and recognizes what Madonna has done for music. If you know where I can find an interview with Madonna saying good things about her as well, I'd love to see that too.

New #1 soon (65,587)
by Haiji Toro from USA

Unfortunately, that #1 doesn't look like it'll be from Mariah. This song is off of a Netflix Original Series soundtrack and was released just a few weeks ago. I predict it to be a huge smash. I just wish it was Mariah singing it. I still love it though. Kudos to the video maker. Wonderful editing job.

Giovanni, what exactly wouldn't work? A duet with B, or the concept I had? I agree with both John Legend and Sam Smith, I love both of their music. I was saying if she worked with another female artist.

Duet (65,523) (65,530)
by Haiji Toro from USA

Lol Andrew, you may have a good point there. I'm always down for a good party jam from Mariah. Even one as a duet with Beyonce. I just picture them together singing a song of some type of empowerment, yet still danceable and club/radio friendly (ala Independent Women). I think it can be done. I always wish to hear additional versions when it comes to duets. The main version with both, and another 2 with each solo versions. Beyonce can put her hip hop spin to hers and Mariah would have a ballad version. That way it appeals to more than one demographic.

Duet with another female singer (65,508)
by Haiji Toro from USA
| |

If she ever does decide to do one, I think she should do one with Celine Dion. Vocally, I can't think of anyone else that would fit with Mariah's, at least for a power-house ballad as a single. Maybe even Patti Labelle. If it's a song just to have on her album but maybe never to be released, I would like to hear her duet with Beyonce or even Jennifer Hudson.

Possible reasons for song choices (65,507)
by Haiji Toro from USA
| |
|
|
You all are so funny. I got all types of visuals lol. I really think that her song choices were for specific reasons, but like everything else with Mariah, her delivery is so off that it can be misunderstood. I do think it's somewhat narcissistic of her part to choose her own songs but it's of no surprise. She's always saying that she doesn't listen to the radio anyways. Although there are so many songs of the past (as she's stated before, growing up listening to the radio) that she could have chosen in place. I'm thinking her choice for "Fantasy" was due to some of the lyrics that represent to her giving birth, "sweet, sweet, fantasy baby, when I close my eyes, you come and you take me". Not necessarily a reason to play the whole song but then again, I wasn't there. I'm also assuming that the reason for "Hero" was maybe for its real sentiment. We may forget that Mariah was never a promiscuous person. Maybe now a bit overly sexualized in image, but she was never one to talk about sex. So I feel that sex with Nick, to her, was just love making. Not that "Hero" is about that, but when she met him, I think she considered him to be her hero (saving her from that loneliness she probably felt at that time and other things, blah blah blah, I don't know lol). Now on Nick speaking about their sex, it's expected from him, being that he's still somewhat immature and a comedian at that. Like someone mentioned before, their (comedians) personal life is usually used as material. I just don't think it's classy and respectful, since that's the mother of his children and his once "so-called" love of his life. On the other hand, I agree that she's not so innocent when it comes to shading others, including Nick. They both don't respect each other. Two wrongs don't make a right, but that indeed, is karma, dah'lin.

Re: Best eras - in memoriam (65,413) (65,426)
by Haiji Toro from USA

I agree with all of this. These were all great eras. My favorite era was the Rainbow-Glitter era. Personality wise, she seemed free. She began speaking her mind. Her interviews were so much fun to watch. Although the Rainbow album isn't on my too favorite list (due to a few fillers), it still has some memorable songs. I remember "Petals" being my favorite and "Did I Do That?" my least favorite, and the latter still is. Her style was fun and simple. She really showed her girly side, which she has said previously, that's who she really is. Her videos were great and majority of them had concepts. The Bianca role and skits were great. A little corny now that I'm older, but at those times it was nice to see, very different to what we were used to seeing from her. She was so involved in the music and video process, while still working on Glitter, the movie. The movie isn't the best but I still enjoy watching it for laughs and memories. The soundtrack to me was perfect. I understood the concept. She knew what she was doing musically, with being featured on most songs. It's so funny to think back to that time, remembering how much of a fan I was to Mariah and J-Lo, both. I remember hating the "I'm Real" remix because I had a friend that wouldn't stop playing it so much, but still enjoyed the original version. I absolutely loved "If We" when I first heard it but I remember thinking that it was so similar to "I'm Real" remix, but didn't mind. Samples were overused in those days, thanks to Diddy lol so I didn't think much of it. My favorite songs off the soundtrack were "Lead the Way" (very underrated) and "Want You". I was so upset that neither became official singles in the US. I feel that the whole Glitter "debacle" is what really started the Mariah "shade" era (2002 - now). I felt bad for her then and sided with her. I think now it's just become overly exhausting to even hear and see.

Licia, I have to agree with you. Camouflage and Cry were both good songs but absolutely boring to me. Every time I hear them, I'd rather listen to Vanishing. I feel that if it has been done once, and done amazingly as Vanishing, then don't try to recreate it. The same goes to Stay In Love (WBT #2). I cannot express how much I love Faded though. My favorite song on that whole album. And I also have to agree with RibbonB, Ribbon was my favorite off of that album. I do enjoy the remix as well, I'm just mad they took out certain ad-libs that made the song what it was.

Never read those books, but now I'm intrigued. I'll have to read the second one you spoke about. I do see what you mean by the similarites. I grew up on all those artists you mentioned, especially Sade. I absolutely love her music. I liked some of Chaka's music. I have great respect for her though, knowing that she's dealt with drug addiction most of her career, and recently checked herself into rehab. That takes a lot of courage and strength. One artist that I truly love both musically and personality wise would be Patti Labelle. That woman is in a league of her own. A true talent and spirit. I also agree with what you mean about Mariah's team of handlers and putting money first. It's unfortunate. I never thought that would be part of her life, but as you said, there's so much more behind all of this, even stuff no one will ever believe or want to. We will see soon though. The devil is a liar, and the truth will always come to light.

Re: Will the real MC please step to the mic? (65,008) (65,012)
by Haiji Toro from USA

Well said, RJJ12. Never thought of it like that, but makes sense. Personally, I never looked at it as a reality show. I know the difference. In my opinion, a reality show is more like The Real World, The Kardashians, Hip Hop Atlanta, etc. Well, most of those are semi-scripted. A docu-series to me would be more like (if anyone remembers or is a Brandy fan), she had a docu-series about her pregnancy, as well as her behind the scenes doing music and her then relationship with the baby's father. I really don't see a huge difference with this upcoming docu-series, Mariah's World, to any of her concert specials that she's done in the past (Here is Mariah Carey, Around the World, The Adventures of Mimi), other than it'll be aired in 8 parts on cable television, which actually is very smart for promo and financially. Not everyone can afford a DVD or even have HBO. With a series, if I miss an episode, I'll still get to watch reruns or other ways for free but tuning in will show ratings and exposure. What bothers me about it is the delays. In my opinion, our world has a very short attention span nowadays. Like someone stated before (I believe Mimi L, sorry if I'm wrong), but no one is gonna even remember or care by then. Why even promote it from now? I do think that December time is a good idea since (someone else stated), she rules Christmas time. That will definitely have most people forget about last year's Hallmark Christmas snooze she released, in my opinion. So with all that said, my theory for early promotion is that maybe the first promo we ever heard was intended for that once said June (or July, not sure) release, but somewhere along the way, Miss Stella Contour noticed that no music would be released anytime soon, and if no music is out, it means no relevancy (at least to this generation). So as someone else also stated (I think Andrew, or maybe Oscar Wilde, not sure), bad publicity is good publicity, that's when all those clips and snaps of drunk, partying, bra out Mariah came out. Unfortunately, we also live in a time where getting lit and turnt up is what it's all about, at least for the younger crowd (which is the right age dynamic from a business point of view). They're the ones tuning in and keeping celebrities relevant, sharing that new pic or clip on Snapchat, Twitter, IG, FB, ect. It's not like how it used to be back then, when talent kept you relevant. If this is indeed the game plan that Mariah's team has, I personally am saddened by it. As my mom says all the time, "I wish my children could have stayed cute, innocent babies forever, I miss those days." Well, I wish music and its industry could have stayed the way it was back then, I miss those days. I guess life goes on and we just have to adapt.

Mirrored chair, psychological projection? (64,999)

I can only think of these two quotes. I'm just so speechless, I couldn't even come up with my own words. "She wasn't being methodological. She was being autobiographical." Steven L. Carter "You painted a naked woman because you enjoyed looking at her, put a mirror in her hand and you called the painting 'Vanity', thus morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you had depicted for you own pleasure." Testimony (64,913)
by Haiji Toro from USA

|
So for those that actually read my few posts, know that I try my best to stay a positive person, so once again I'll try to keep it that way. It's 5:11am (and I'm stressing, watching tv.... haha you know the rest). I won't put too much of my personal life out there, but I've been having a few rough months recently. It feels as if every day gets worse, but I try to stay prayed up. Anyways, this post is really my testimony about how, for as long as I've known Mariah's music (since 1990), it seems to have some type of healing power. I won't be silly and say that it cured my pain or fixed my problems but there's truly a power behind her voice and music that gives me some type of hope. I recently discovered a YouTube TMC Lambily Megamix that is a little over 3 hours. I'm still not finished listening to it lol. Aside from the fact that I haven't been able to sleep, this mix is also the reason I'm still awake. Why is it 5am and I'm still struggling? I gotta get me some sleep. This mix has literally just about every single song she's ever recorded. Her music catalog is incredible. For those that are interested in hearing it for yourself, here it is. Enjoy. God bless.

Darren, great idea for the single. I really enjoy those type of slow grooves. Breakdown is very underrated. I always wanted her to promote it much more than it was back then. I'm sure it's a hard song for her to perform but I'd love to hear a full live version, maybe even a version without Bone Thugs and extended/added ad-libs. Overall, hope she comes up with a song with your type of idea. I asked the initial question about a new single, but when I started typing out mine, I ended up making a project out of it lol. I'd love to post it but I feel like I did too much and others on here might not really care for it. Besides, it may be too long and detailed for the webmaster to post it lol. Either way, maybe one day I'll work for Mariah''s team and show it to her.

I just wanna say thank you for everything you've done for the site. I'm happy that Jeff asked you that question, most of us would've never known your story. I think it's great how you also take the time out to interact with us. Please continue the great work you've been doing with this site. It's just a shame that Mariah even tried to shut it down in the past, if she only realized how much work and dedication you've put into it. It's bizarre that anyone would wanna stop someone else for showing some type of support. Thanks again, God bless.

Thank you Jeff for the reply and support. I think your idea of the song is great. I'd love to hear how it would turn out. I like the idea of having a remix and club remix as well. God knows we've been waiting for those old school remixes she used to bless us with. I remember loving her My All/Stay Awhile Remix and the I Still Believe (Kings Remix). I'm still trying to come up with my idea.

Andrew, I cannot contain my laughter from the visual you gave me. Now I have to go watch that movie. I have to say though, I am proud of you. Not sure if my post shed a tiny little light in your heart (I hope it did) or maybe I'm wrong, but either way, positivity is always great. Look at it this way, if a friend of yours told you that they had a family member with a drug problem and needed quick intervention but needed your support, would you do it? Knowing that either way, if you helped or not, it wouldn't affect your life at all, possibly embarrassing the addict, would you be there for your friend? Maybe this isn't that type of situation (thank God), but you see how important it is for your friend. Well in my opinion, the petition is kind of like that. It may not affect your life personally, but it means that much to those that appreciate that petition. You, of course, don't owe anything to anyone and we may not all be friends outside this message board, but I'd like to think of everyone that interacts on here as an extended musical family/friends. Like someone stated before, it's for a positive outcome. Overall, I'm not trying to pressure you into anything you don't wanna do, I'll still respect your decision. I just felt like you should at least see my point of view.

If you were given the power to create your next Mariah single, what would it sound like. Please follow these steps. When would it be released? Any collaborations? Ballad or uptempo? Genre? Name one or more songs that would represent the sound (just for imagination purposes). Producers? What are the lyrics about? On a positive note (64,597)
by Haiji Toro from USA

|
Ok so, as some may know I'm a huge Mariah music fan/lamb and due to my obsession to this messageboard, I read it every day with my cup of coffee. Like in the real world, I'm one of those people that sits back and listens/observes when others are debating on their own opinions and usually try to stay out of it until asked for my own opinion. I'd like to think that I'm very rational and will always find other's views and points valid in their own way. In this case, no one has asked for my opinion, but I'll state it anyways since you can easily click on that arrow to the next post and just ignore mine if you don't care for it. First, I'd like to apologize for my previous post singling out certain members and only reaching out to a few. I'd love to be able to reach out to every single member on here, including the webmaster, but in reality, not everyone is gonna like me or even care to. I'm ok with that. My point is that especially in a time like this, division is only adding more fuel to this inequality we live in. I'm not about that. I assume we're all adults on here and if not, then those that are, we should be leading by example to the younger generation and teach them about unity and respect. We should all have the right to express our opinions and feelings without disrespect to others. Not everyone is gonna get along and no one is being forced to, but this is the life that was given to us, we didn't choose it. I will not bring up religious beliefs, but my belief is that God put us here, different and all, to live and love each other as one. I'm not black, but I do believe and respect that #blacklivesmatter. I'm not a cop but respect #bluelivesmatter. I specifically believe in #alllivesmatter, but I pray that one day, that will be what we're fighting for. I'm Colombian/Arab, spiritual, gay and a Mariah fan/lamb. It's getting exhausting having to choose and fight for specifics. I started writing this post out of sadness to this divide we have on this message board, that my thoughts and words have lost themselves in jumbled rant. One thing I can say is that however it came out and however you want to take it in, my feelings should be expressed in them. I did sign Marissa's petition and even wrote a note, but I do understand and respect Andrew and Travon's point of view. I just feel that typing them here isn't coming across as it should. I definitely respect that they are standing their ground and behind their beliefs. I just wish that not everything needs to be an argument and just discuss, respect and move on with our own opinions. *This message was brought to you by LonelyAndGotNothingToDo. #lamblivesmatter God bless.
