Re: When I became a fan (89,619) (89,622)

After hearing Vision of Love on the radio several times, I became intrigued. Then I saw the video, the high notes being sung, saw the curly hair, her ambiguous race, the beauty, and I instantly fell in love. Feels like I've stan'd Mariah my whole life. I'm still in love with "Caution" too.

Article: Mariah Carey turns either 49 or 50 today (88,859)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
I've been following Mariah's career from day 1. Back in the beginning, her birth year was always 1970. Unless the label lied, so she'd appeal to a younger audience longer.

Re: Does anyone here even stream music? (88,689) (88,691)
by Chicago Lamb from USA

I've got a 5-changer cd deck on my receiver with surround sound throughout my home, and a cd player in my car. I've got a Sony speaker dock in my bathroom with an iPod loaded with music. I don't stream at all. A little old school but that's how I consume my Mariah music. Caution is a great album, still on repeat.

Caution tour sold out in Chicago (88,511)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
Last night Mariah was on fire. The clips on YouTube don't do her singing justice. She sounded smooth and buttery. I was shocked at all the remixes she did, and new material. I noticed quite a few people not connecting, perhaps hoping for more hits which were largely absent. What is notable is that DJ Suss opened his set with Michael Jackson songs. I was all for this as it's a testament to a legend supporting a legend.

The video/high notes (88,393) (88,397)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
I like the video. It's just a promo, really for the song. It's fun and people will get the club/party vibe she's trying to convey. I surmise that the high notes were originally part of the track but they decided to leave them off for the album. She sneaks things in for us, like that. Any Chicago Lambs attending this Monday 11th, Chicago Theatre with me?

Mariah's album "Caution" did not make it in time before cut off and therefore is eligible for consideration next year. GTFO was released in time and was ignored. Hopefully A No No will receive some commercial success and if it does, who knows what could happen next. Incidentally, I was at a boystown bar here in Chicago and they played GTFO. You know I was smiling huge.

Re: If given an opportunity to meet Mariah (87,861) (87,864)
by Chicago Lamb from USA

I've had the pleasure of meeting Mariah three times. Being brief, as these encounters generally are, all I remember being able to say is how great I think she is and that I'm a super fan. Once I asked if she remembered meeting me the 2nd time. That was silly because she meets so many people, continuously. I doubt she's going to discuss the health of her voice with a complete stranger though.

I just played "The Roof" for a friend recently and he said, "Wow this is Mariah? It sounds so modern." He liked the song/production and he's not even a fan.

In all fairness, I do remember Mariah mentioning him once this promotional season. I think it was the Genius interview. However, Mariah is the star of the matter. When she talks about songs or albums she's done she can't possibly mention every co-writer/producer listed, that's just dumb. AIWFCIY is a Mariah song, it's very simple. When people look up the credits they will see he's been given all the credit due to him under his contract at the time. Walter can check his bank account too if he feels slighted. Furthermore, we don't even know if the article is real.
Happiest of holidays to everyone. What an amazing era this has been for Mariah and us lambs. I'll be seeing Mariah here in Chicago this spring.

Andrew, I love this album more than Charmbraclet, Memoirs and Elusive Chanteuse. There are songs that I really like on those albums, but Caution is a play all the way through set on repeat. I know you've heard that before here, but its for a good reason. I'm trying to imagine exactly what you were expecting out of a new release. Oh, I listened to E=MC2 recently and agree its a really good album as its held up fairly well.

GML has become my new favorite on the album. The whiole "CD" has been on repeat since release. It feels like what Memoirs should have been.

Yes, that is him. What a shite talker is doing there in the midst of a legend who he happily bashed, I have no clue.

Multiple copies / Jimmy Fallon (86,145)
by Chicago Lamb from USA
| |
|

Firstly, Lambs: Be reminded if you purchase multiple physical CD's, make sure they are rung up on separate receipts. Somebody I follow on Twitter said otherwise the extra copies won't count.
Secondly, Mariah was great on Jimmy Fallon but did she pull an Aretha by singing with Ty Dolla $ign on his part?

Titled "Giving me Life". 6 min 8 sec. This is a Mariah album first. What do you think is going on within this track? Never has a Mariah track been this long. Is it a full length interlude club banger? #10]

Thank you for posting Mercury. This backs up what lambs, music industry (Patty) and media (Wendy) have publicly stated. While indisputably, Mariah has taken the brunt the of criticism for it. He blames all the mishaps of basically past recent years on her "messy" managment. And he keeps his integrity as an artist by not bashing Mariah, really at all. A must listen.
