About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

Re: My absolute favorite Mariah song (88,134) (88,141) by Bill from the UK
If we're splitting hairs, it's an awesome 70s beat (YouTube I Want to Thank You by Alicia Myers).

Re: MC's age? (88,122) (88,123) by Bill from the UK
Exactly. Instead we should be focusing our energies on why Migrate wasn't a single and how on Earth she walked out of the studio after recording Why You Mad thinking that monstrosity was fit for public consumption.

Re: MC's age? (88,115) (88,121) by Bill from the UK
I theorise that this is why she always dodges the question and says she's "eternally twelve" or has anniversaries etc., because she doesn't want to lie. In Tina Arena's biography she said when she signed to Columbia and met Tommy M, he said "you're gonna be 22 now" when she was 27. But she was a child star so everyone would have known. I agree with Licia that the 1 year difference makes no sense, other than at the time being born "in the 70s" rather than the sixties sounded better. My friend believes her exotic and great stage name is not real and she was actually called Maria. To back up being named after They Call The Wind Mariah her birth year was adjusted. The verdict? Who cares, really.

Re: My Caution world tour setlist (88,077) (88,090) by Bill from the UK
For mine I axed all the tired old material, save a few exceptions. I had a section in the middle for some old tunes. Deliberately had The Roof float into Giving Me Life, and Runway into the Butterfly Outro.

Portrait intro
Emotions (Meltdown version)
With You
Caution
A No No (remix)

For the nostalgia:
Dreamlover
I'll Be There
Honey
Heartbreaker
The Roof

Giving Me Life
One Mo' Gen
The Distance
We Belong Together
Hero
Runway
Butterfly outro

I think it'd be more fitting for MC to end the concert with GTFO lol.

Re: J.Lo's "management team" (88,008) (88,012) by Bill from the UK
It also comes down to the old "you can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter" analogy. J.Lo is not talented. She is not musically gifted, nor have any talent as an actor either. She's a great dancer, and of course looks amazing, but that's it. She cannot write a song nor give a stellar delivery of it.

Caution cassette (87,978) by Bill from the UK
So my Caution cassette finally arrived today. This was all I ordered from the site, but my box contained the pink vinyl with the M cover, which I never ordered or paid for, as well as some lithographs. If this was a mistake, I lucked out, and is a nice payback for waiting a hundred years for it to arrive.

Re: Butterfly (87,966) (87,970) by Bill from the UK
Your original reply was very well said and I also agree with this point. All Chris' posts are unfortunately a lot of clap trap formed by his own perception of events. But opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.

Re: Butterfly (87,940) (87,944) by Bill from the UK
Actually the false boobs didn't arrive until 1999.

Re: Imagine by Ariane Grande (87,914) (87,924) by Bill from the UK
For two reasons. 1. I've Been Thinking About You, like all Carey-Cole-Clivilles compositions, uses uncredited samples itself, and 2. David Cole died in 1995.

Re: Maroon 5's half-time show (87,885) (87,887) by Bill from the UK
Indeed, YouTube is forever and there's enough ropey performances on there (now outnumbering the good pre-1997 performances, because she won't stop touring) to seal her doom without a(nother) televised global catastrophe.

Re: Dreamlover in Saudi Arabia (87,869) (87,872) by Bill from the UK
It's a bit too late for that really. If she suddenly gave this incredible "was it lipped or wasn't it" concert out of nowhere everyone (or us at least), would know she was, if you pardon the lamb pun, pulling the wool over our eyes. I wish she'd just drop the old material, she can't get through a single song end to end live anymore. The Caution tour should be that album's tracks only, plus a lipped Hero and We Belong Together to keep everyone happy. At least we'd stand a chance of having maybe a 50% live concert, rather than the current less than 10% we get now. (I really don't count shouting/speaking verses as singing anymore. I'm looking at you, Emotions.)

Re: Article: Mariah Carey wows fans in Saudi Arabia (87,852) (87,854) by Bill from the UK
I watched the highlights on YouTube and I must agree, it was dreadful. If they were the highlights then thank the good Lord above the video didn't subject me to the lowlights. It's the worst she's sounded since that horrific Elusive Chanteuse tour. The rate of decline in her vocals is alarming.

Re: Butterfly (87,835) (87,851) by Bill from the UK
Great words. I think when Mariah is remembered it will be AIWFCIY and Butterfly that end up defining her. That capturing a moment notion you speak of reminds me so much of the stories behind Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album.

Re: Vanishing (87,775) (87,781) by Bill from the UK
Okay back up and pop it in reverse for a second. You don't like The Roof? Blasphemy lol. When you get to it, definitely watch the video alongside as it perfectly captures the atmosphere of the song (those limo shots are something else). The lyrics are so poetic and the driving beat almost sounds like rain. She's never done a song that atmospheric and moody until Giving Me Life in my opinion. It's a real gem and my favourite from Butterfly. It pains me that the planned UK release as a single was canned as it was deemed too urban.

Yes.

This site lol (87,771) by Bill from the UK
All I ever read on this site these days is a bunch of you squabbling with each other followed by a daily check in of With You's agonisingly slow descent down the Adult R&B charts. God speed the A No No remix so we have something else to talk about on this godforsaken board lol.

Re: Mariah's managers? 1990-2019 (87,736) (87,757) by Bill from the UK
Randy Hoffman managed Mariah for years during the beginning of her career until she cleaned house of Tommy and his associates.

Re: Don't Forget About Us (87,739) (87,744) by Bill from the UK
She's been churning out those types of ballads for ten years so I for one was glad of their absence on Caution.

I can imagine logging into this board ten years from now and still seeing updates go by about With You's position in the Adult R&B Charts.

Re: New found appreciation for IDWC (87,681) (87,685) by Bill from the UK
I used to skip it mainly because I couldn't wait to get to Someday haha. What a bop. Definitely revisit Vanishing. It's my second fave on the album (after Vision of Love of course).

Re: New found appreciation for IDWC (87,672) (87,676) by Bill from the UK
With you on this. I used to always skip it but lately it has taken on a new lease of life. The way she delivers that bridge... wow.

Re: If it was me (87,654) (87,656) by Bill from the UK
Whatever happens, happens. Mariah made these choices and she will need to own them. Part of me thinks she should let it all out, and then humble herself by admitting what she did was wrong (if it's as bad as has been implied), and then use that to start a clean slate and make some positive changes in her life. Bring her back down to earth a bit. She's human and makes mistakes. Everybody deals with consequences from their actions eventually, and it can't be healthy for her to forever be looking over her shoulder and having NDAs coming out of every orifice. My advice: air everything so her enemies have no ammunition, take back the power, stop masquerading behind a false projection of yourself. Be honest about who you are and where you are now (including your voice). As with the bipolar announcement, the fans won't turn their backs on you, and you will always be loved and cherished.
