About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

Re: Mariah sues personal assistant (87,627) (87,636) by Bill from the UK
Welcome back Chris the Psychologist. What a ridiculous post. We're talking about two people here across Mariah's entire team, both past and present. Plastic surgery is not the work of the devil, sorry to break it to you.

The debut (87,579) by Bill from the UK
I'm going through one of my phases where I do nothing but play the debut album on repeat. What an introduction, what a voice. I love all the songs so much, even There's Got to Be a Way and You Need Me, which I sometimes see get some, for want of a better word, "shade" on here. The Prisoner rap is something else. You're just a player, that's not my format. Love it.

Re: SWHOF (87,537) (87,545) by Bill from the UK
Without any disrespect to Missy, she hasn't penned 17 number one records (two of which reigned at the top for 16 and 14 consecutive weeks), nor create a universally adorned perennial Christmas classic. Mariah should be inducted for AIWFCIY alone in my opinion.

Re: R. Kelly (87,502) (87,509) by Bill from the UK
If I remember correctly, at the time he released the (still) amazing Ignition Remix, everyone quickly forgot about all the charges against him. Also get your point about not liking Caution but appreciating it. I never listen to E=MC2 or Memoirs that much, but when I do, I enjoy every single song.

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,407) (87,412) by Bill from the UK
It's not that she didn't like them per se, it was more that for Portrait she'd rather listen to Looking In. Dreamlover over 8th Grade. She summed it up by saying if she was stuck on a desert island her CD would be disc 1 of Greatest Hits. Vision of Love through to Fantasy.

I was just playing, it's a great album. Except for Boy.

Re: Missing Columbia cassettes (87,396) (87,409) by Bill from the UK
Try discogs.com. eBay is a rip off. Discogs has virtually everything you could want, and for regular releases like cassettes and CD albums, they are very cheap. For instance I wanted another copy of Merry Christmas on CD for the car and picked one up for £1.

Unplugged starts from 49 cents. Rainbow starts from $8. #1s starts from $6. Prices vary depending on the condition of the item etc., so read the description carefully. Good luck finding what you're missing.

Where were you when Charmbracelet dropped (ducks Licia's swipe) hehe.

Re: Andrew gone (87,383) (87,390) by Bill from the UK
I do agree it is great that MC is still making amazing music. Caution is a brilliant album and something new and fresh, and we're luckily she's hasn't spiralled down into cult irrelevance. But maybe it's a sign of my tastes, and as much as I love Giving Me Life and think it's one of the best things she's written in years, I'd rather play The Roof you know?

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,385) (87,389) by Bill from the UK
What a great post, and I agree age doesn't account for taste. I'm only 30 (only, ha) but Mariah is the only current artist I listen to. I lost interest on everything beyond the late 90s when chart music took a downward spiral. In my day the top ten would be a ballad, a disco song, a club tune, a rock song, a goofy song etc. and it would be evenly distributed amongst current acts, established acts from decades earlier, and one hit wonders - the majority of whom were very talented in their genre. Now it seems to be all the same people releasing an endless array of singles with a guest rapper thrown on top (thanks Mariah lol). I really admired Maria for taking the stance she did. And don't get me wrong, she's of course listened to Caution and all the others to see what she's up to, but as she said to me when I last saw her, "it's no Vision of Love".

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,374) (87,381) by Bill from the UK
Maria has of course heard MC's new music, but it's just not to her tastes. She was a fan since day one, hearing Vision of Love on the radio. She is a fan of those big voiced balladeers and Mariah simply isn't that anymore. It was bringing her down and frustrating her. So many people tell others to stop listening to Mariah and stop posting about her and stay in the 90s bubble, and that's what she did lol. And even after taking that advice she still gets attacked all these years later lol. She'll find this so funny.

Re: Andrew gone (87,361) (87,365) by Bill from the UK
Interesting fact of the day. Maria is actually in my circle of friends and is the one who made me aware of this board's existence. She's a mother to two children now, and proudly proclaims herself to be the first person to be "run out of town" on the message board haha. She actually gave away all her post-Rainbow collection to a bunch of us as she's come to terms with the fact she's purely a 90s Mariah fan and is at peace with it all lol. I'll pass on your regards.

Ha that's so funny. Mara, if you do clam up please, for the sake of this board, at least try to tell her that Migrate should have been a single.

Re: Christmas (87,323) (87,325) by Bill from the UK
Hi Mara, wow what a present. Happy birthday to you. I've never met Mariah but I would feel exactly the same as you are, as she's been a constant in my life since I was a little boy and I honestly don't know what I'd do if she was standing in front of me. Nerves are a good thing, and as Anthony said prepare yourself for the briefest of encounters as I've heard it's literally a wave into the room, click, see you later type of thing. Maybe plan out the one sentence you want to say to her, like "Thank you for writing Outside, it changed my life" or something brief like that. I'm really excited for you. Going to be a day you'll never forget, all the best for it and please tell us all how it went.

Re: AIWFCIY #2 (87,272) (87,274) by Bill from the UK
I can't believe poor Mariah missed out on AIWFCIY getting to number one again in the UK. I've been permanently scarred due to the injustice in 1994 (she may have lost the battle then but she definitely ended up winning the war). How I wish this song would end up topping the charts (either side of the pond would be fine) one of these days. Maybe next year.

Re: Full - We're Not Making Love Anymore (87,234) (87,257) by Bill from the UK
Thanks a lot for sharing. Simply beautiful. I don't understand how this hasn't been released and why the poster's description is so full of paranoia around it being out there. Both Bolton and Mariah sound amazing, the song is brilliant, and it has made everyone happy to finally hear this in its entirety. I'm hoping Sony Legacy release an anniversary edition of the debut in 2020 with this, the demo, the Tattoo club set, and some other little trinkets. But as usual the anniversary will likely fly by without so much as a nod in the album's direction.

Re: Caution (87,207) (87,217) by Bill from the UK
I did. Butterfly and Daydream were also not ten track albums like it claims.

Re: Caution (87,205) (87,206) by Bill from the UK
Let's not go nuts. It's good, but it's not worthy of being in the same league as Daydream and Butterfly.

Mariah: The Diva, The Demons, The Drama (87,200) by Bill from the UK
Yes, it was far-fetched and the re-enactments was like something you'd see in Glitter (though the costume designer did a good job of recreating the Always Be My Baby look). The commentators were a bunch of nobodies, and Ben Margulies was horrendously underused. I would have loved to have an entire album of him talking through the early days, and him reaching out at the end of the programm. Every so often I come here and wade through messages about Walter Afanasieff and whether they should or shouldn't work together again. I would so much rather have her work with Ben Margulies again over him. Vision of Love, Someday, Vanishing, All In Your Mind, Alone In Love, Prisoner, Love Takes Time. Such gems and I really believe they could make some great tunes together again. Their time together was far, far too short. Great to see Morgan and Alison be sincere and genuine about their sister.

Mariah: The Diva, The Demons, The Drama (87,031) by Bill from the UK
Attention UK dwellers. Channel 5 have a Mariah Carey evening on Wednesday 19th December from 8pm onwards.

Schedule:
8pm: Christmas with Mariah Carey: general celebration of MC and her everlasting holiday hit.
9pm: The Diva, The Demons, The Drama: biopic focusing around the Glitter debacle. Trailer had interviews with Alison so should be interesting.
11pm: A Christmas Melody: re-run of MC's film.

Can't wait.

Thanks for the review. Unfortunately I couldn't afford tickets so really keen to hear what the UK lambs thought of the concert. Sounds like you had a great night.

Re: Last Kiss (86,954) (86,956) by Bill from the UK
Agree, it's the best song on the album. Actually I was listening to E=MC2 the other day. I do wish there was a "JD free" version of this album though. He literally doesn't shut up. I'm sitting there fuming after a while. It's like, yes, we all know who it is.

Re: Mariah Carey shelved projects (86,845) (86,849) by Bill from the UK
The only real shelved project we know about is the Angels Advocate album, and probably for good reason. The rest is just speculation until her memoir is released, where she will hopefully shed some light on what was going on in the background. She did say she was contracted to release an album a year when at her original stint at Sony, and 1996 is the only year without an album so potentially something was in the works that got scrapped. But then, Daydream was still churning out hits well into 1996 and selling so all I can conceive being released would be an accompanying live album for the tour.
