Re: Bipolar and vocal issues (85,655) (85,658) by Bill from the UK
Okay so to clear it up and make the definitive list of excuses, we have the following reasons for why MC can't sing anymore:

1. Nodules
2. Cold/lack of humidifier
3. Divorce proceedings
4. Alcohol abuse
5. Marijuana abuse
6. Prescription drugs
7. Thyroid
8. Bipolar
9. Michael Jackson's casket
10. Vocal preservation
11. Anthony Burrell
12. Corset
13. Stage fright
14. Clone of original dead Mariah (illuminati)
15. Tommy sabotage
16. J.Lo stole it
17. She's had kids
18. Nothing to prove so why bother

There you go. An excuse for every number one.

Re: Blue Caution album cover (85,653) (85,657) by Bill from the UK
Yep totally the wrong choice. The alternative cover is brilliant. I can't quite believe the Avatar/In the Zone cover is going to be timecapsuled like Butterfly, Music Box, Merry Christmas etc. I mean an album cover is forever and part of her legacy for generations after she has left this world. Even the pink caution tape with the blue eye peeking out was better than the actual cover we got.

Oh you don't like a Mariah song? Never thought I'd see the day hehe.

Re: Biannual appreciation post for Triumphant (85,638) (85,647) by Bill from the UK
Part of me wishes Triumphant and Almost Home had joined TAOLG on the Deluxe version of MIAM instead of those stupid Memoirs cut and paste lazy "duets". What a waste of disc space.

Re: Always Be My Baby/Slipping Away CD (85,644) (85,646) by Bill from the UK
Haha, enjoy. Great CD and great song. Slipping Away is such a gem.

Re: Mariah's voice returning (85,615) (85,618) by Bill from the UK
Those vocal stylings were all part of MJ's brilliant and iconic delivery of his songs though. He also pretty much managed to sound great live right up until the end. Yelling "eh" and not stepping out of the speaking voice octave was not part of Mariah's brilliant and iconic delivery of her songs. This is why it gets criticised as much as it does. Her ticket prices are astronomical when you consider she neither moves nor sings during the 90 minutes she's on stage. All these great vocals from Asia are pre records. This time though Mariah's got a new trick. Rather than the classic and timeless hand out at arms length, head bowed gesture she did when lipping a climatic note, it's now stick a finger in the ear and waggle your head slightly. That's worth $100 surely.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey still gets "goosebumps" thinking about WBT (85,571) (85,582) by Bill from the UK
It’s interesting to read Mariah’s feelings on one of her biggest hits. I love hearing stories about how these moments of genius come together. I’d love to know the behind the scenes around The Roof or My All. Those songs are pure poetry and the imagery and feelings they bring to the surface are something I can never quite put into words. But it’s as if I have lived those experiences, they are so well written.

Re: Caution tracklist (85,508) (85,516) by Bill from the UK
I'm glad I Don't and the others didn't make it into the album. She needs to put that whole era behind her. I wonder if she'll keep drip feeding songs so that we end up having the entire album on November 16.

Re: Voice appearance (85,459) (85,466) by Bill from the UK
Great words and a brilliant post but the sticking point for a lot of us in the deception. The lip syncing, the studio manipulation. I agree she should be lauded for what she did in the past, but don't pretend like it's still there and you're hitting those whistle notes as easily as you did in 1991, because you're not. Stop the lies and deception and be honest with where you're at vocally, and that it came through a mix of a genuinely fragile and overworked voice and her own bad lifestyle choices.

She also said she’d never lip sync but, well, here we are.

Re: Caution standard edition tracklist (85,415) (85,417) by Bill from the UK
Haha, I had the same feeling of dread wash over me when I read track 8's title. Seems interesting, especially Truthfully. I wonder if it will be a gospel closer like she's did for Emancipation, E=MC2 and MIAM. Time will tell. November 16th seems so far away haha.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey surrounded by creepy clowns (85,384) (85,399) by Bill from the UK
It was the blades in their heads and eyes and their scary faces that made me question why on earth she would do that to her young children.

Re: A No No (85,377) (85,398) by Bill from the UK
There's a difference between physically sold and scanned copies vs copies shipped to territories to be sold. Daydream sold 7.5m in the US (in total, since release, not in 1995 alone).

Re: A No No (85,369) (85,370) by Bill from the UK
Indeed. But if we're to believe the hype of 200 million records sold, then the debut far surpasses everything, selling c. 61 million units. It's the only album not captured by Soundscan so simple arithmetic will get you to that figure when you consider her other album sales officially total 139 million. Unless of course Mariah's album sales are counted by Enron's accountancy firm (they were known to, shall we say, round up).

Caution to feature a cover song? (85,351) by Bill from the UK
Anybody hopeful that Caution will house another classic remake? I do love Mariah's remakes, and I'm sure we've all got lists (I love a list). Reasons by Minnie Riperton or The Impossible Dream are top of mine.

Re: Brat bankruptcy (85,285) (85,288) by Bill from the UK
It would be quite something if Mariah paid for Da Brat’s debt whilst at the same time refusing to even acknowledge her dying sister’s pleas for help. Hashtag just saying.

Re: Limited edition of Caution (85,258) (85,260) by Bill from the UK
Yes yes yes and yes. The limited edition cover is brilliant and so much better than Avatar 2 meets In The Zone.

Re: Mariah Carey dragged into Da Brat's bankruptcy case (85,239) (85,245) by Bill from the UK
I find it incredible and unbelievable that Da Brat is unable to survive on nine thousand dollars a month. Live within your means like everyone else.

Re: Big news (85,223) (85,225) by Bill from the UK
I was listening to CB too and also thought of our dear Licia. I did of course skip Boy (I Need You), and I do get a bit bored by chorus 157 of Lullaby, but otherwise, a nice album to go back to from time to time.

Caution World Tour (85,191) by Bill from the UK
So that was the big news. I was half expecting her to announce a starring role in Avatar 2 after the album cover reveal lol.

Re: The Asia tour and MC15 Caution era (85,088) (85,091) by Bill from the UK
Completely agree that MC should really capitalise on her tours this quarter to promote her new material as well as delivering her hits. Some audience members may be attending "for the nostalgia", so for them to hear her new, great material as the album hits the shelves seems a bit of a no brainer.
