Hahaha. Point taken. I am always very grumpy in the mornings.

AMAs (84,638) by Bill from the UK
Well my prediction more or less came true: "She will stand there, statuesque, breasts on display, high heels on, and lip the entire song, fidgeting with her diamond encrusted ear piece the whole time (or giving cues to the sound guys that the pre-record is to kick in, whatever you make of it), and yell out 'eh' a couple of times. She will then be hoisted off the stage back to the dressing room so she can down another bottle of Caymus and overdo the shots of Remy. The circus is back in town."

I actually was too generous in expecting a live yelled out "eh". Didn't even get that. There will, I fear, come a time when MC is actually booed and jeered off the stage for the continuation of her duping her fans and attendees. Only then, as she's carted off by her backing dancers to the backdrop of a jeering auditorium back to the safeness of her wine glass, will she perhaps realise she needs to change her ways and stop this charade. The gift has been squandered. It's gone. Gone with the wind. That much is apparent. I'd advise her to retire from singing and become a full time songwriter, but if her latest attempts are anything to go by, even that wouldn't render much success.

Re: Music biz today (84,594) (84,598) by Bill from the UK
This is what irks me about this roll out. YouTube views are a large proportion of a song's success and yet we haven't even got a lyric video. There is literally nothing to watch on YouTube since With You's release, so with each passing day it ebbs away out of people's minds. GTFO only has 4m views because it's no fun to watch. I've watched it a total of 2 times, and I'm a fan of Mariah's. There is a reason why Touch My Body has 170m views. It's a fantastic video. It's funny, it's re-watchable, it's tongue in cheek, MC looks great, there are several strands, it has a fun concept etc. I go back and watch it time and time and time again (but it's just a...). There is nothing re-watchable about Mariah sitting on her backside drinking wine and not doing anything. I'm praying With You's video, when it eventually gets released, has some element of a storyline to it that would encourage repeat viewings. But it will likely be beauty shots of her parading around LA in black and white. Yawn.

Re: I need help (84,589) (84,590) by Bill from the UK
These are all good points and I agree with you in part. There isn't anything really wrong with the song, it's just not the one to launch an album and new era off. It's as if she didn't learn from You're Mine (Eternal), as With You is very much in that vein and is similar in theme and sonically too. MIAM should have carried on the hype and success of #Beautiful with YDKWTD or Make It Look Good as they were both interesting and different from other numbers her back catalogue. When we hear the album, undoubtedly I'm sure there will be great songs on there and we will be left scratching our heads wondering why she and the label opted for With You as the lead. Also makes no sense how she got it right with GTFO by having the video ready for release, but as always is now delaying the lead single's video. Release the damn thing already.

Are we now saying flopping is all well and good to justify MC's latest "effort"? I'm sorry, that's nonsense. Someone has to be number one every week. It will just never be Mariah all the while she refuses to do anything differently.

I think these are cute ideas about Drake showing up for the remix of With You, or MC announcing and releasing (sorry, "dropping") the album instantaneously as a surprise, but, who are we kidding? Let's be realistic. She will stand there, statuesque, breasts on display, high heels on, and lip the entire song, fidgeting with her diamond encrusted ear piece the whole time (or giving cues to the sound guys that the pre-record is to kick in, whatever you make of it), and yell out "eh" a couple of times. She will then be hoisted off the stage back to the dressing room so she can down another bottle of Caymus and overdo the shots of Remy. The circus is back in town.

A message for Adam (84,331) by Bill from the UK
Hi Adam, what you've said is so honest that it is heartbreaking. I'm in the same boat as you. Try as I might, and as much as I may want it, the Mariah I loved and cared about is not here anymore. It will likely be down to the trauma of her relationships, her supposed addiction to prescription drugs, her alcoholism, her vanity, her deception, and her refusal to change or address any of it head on. The bipolar announcement was such a bold, liberating step, but it's as if it never happened. The woman inserting alcohol brands and f-bombs into every other line is not the same woman who wrote and sang Vanishing, Make It Happen and Everything Fades Away (life imitating art indeed). It just isn't. Can success and fortune really turn the little girl who listened to the radio under the bed covers and wrote songs in a wood shop to the woman we see before us? I saw Whitney's deterioration from a distance. Though I recognised her as an amazing singer, I would never have called myself anything more than a casual fan. Having seen that woman, who had grace, confidence, beauty, poise, elegance and a fantastic voice end her life with none of those things was upsetting enough, but it's as if I am watching it unfold with Mariah right before my eyes, in super slow motion. Maybe she was nothing but a manufactured response to Whitney after all, and the removal of Tommy, the controlled/overdubbed performances, and Kelly Price boosting her vocals is what we're left with (coincidence that's Kelly exited Mariah's camp in 1996 and then in 1997 her voice is noticeably different?). Maybe, like you, it is best to remove myself from this constant disappointment, worry, and concern. I do genuinely care so much about her, but seeing her become this shadow and caricature of herself is just the saddest, saddest thing. I miss Mariah so much. So, so much.

With You (84,288) by Bill from the UK
Okay so it's on Spotify and YouTube now. It's a bit of a let down for me. The song doesn't really go anywhere, it's the same mid-tempo love song she's been doing for the last fifteen years. Nothing new. The song's pleasant enough, but not something to launch an album on in my view. Considering the hype and how well the promotion has been, it's a shame that the song is somewhat mediocre.

Re: If we really think about it (84,262) (84,264) by Bill from the UK
Despite the fact I am clearly Team 90s, I cannot help but be interested in any news of MC, I'm always excited to hear she is releasing new material, and I will always buy her albums no matter what she puts out. I set my expectations quite low these days. We aren't ever going to get another Fantasy or Heartbreaker. Hell, we won't ever get another Loverboy, and I really don't care about chart positions. She has nothing to prove. So long as the music is good that's all I'm really interested in. But frankly, bar of couple of exceptions, the last decade's output has been pretty abysmal by her standards.

Ehhhh. If that is truly the song then I agree, not holding out much hope for it storming the global charts like Thriller did back in the 80s.

Re: Worst Mariah song - in your mind (84,177) (84,182) by Bill from the UK
Haha. I'm the other way. By the 17th chorus, Boy has well and truly done me in. I remember on first listen of CB I was screaming at the stereo "end already" (exclamation mark). I never liked the Cam'Ron song originally so maybe that has something to do with it. I can't believe The One was dropped in favour of Boy. The One was the best song on the entire album. And yes, Sprung was a bonus track to the UK TEOM which really took away from the dramatic ending of FLAB. Ended a brilliant album on a mess of a song. Every time I listen to CB (skipping Boy of course) I think of you Licia lol.

AMAs (84,175) by Bill from the UK
I wonder if the audio for With You is the music that plays in that clip MC posted to her Twitter about performing at the AMAs. If so, sounds great.

Re: Worst Mariah song - in your mind (84,163) (84,167) by Bill from the UK
You misspelt "Boy (I Need You)". To the Floor is an understated gem. The more I listen to it, the better it gets. It was my fave from TEOM since day 1 and always will be. As for Sprung, in the UK is was a bonus track to TEOM tacked on at the end, so it really ruined the "I've just been saved" vine that Fly Like a Bird left you with. When all that weird Halloween music kicked in I was sitting there with my "wtf" face on ha.

Re: MC15 meaning (84,089) (84,126) by Bill from the UK
Thank you Licia (exclamation mark). I was reading these posts about E=MC2 with a red mist descending as no one was mentioning Migrate and its blatant should-have-been-a-single-ness. That was Mariah's 19th number one right there. But alas, we got Bye Bye instead. Quite a fitting title to end your streak of number ones on really.

Re: MC on vinyl (84,105) (84,124) by Bill from the UK
The early albums are pretty easy to find and relatively cheap on vinyl (at least in the UK). The debut, Emotions and Unplugged were all released when vinyl was selling more/equal to CDs and cassettes so they were mass produced. Music Box is still around but a little bit more money as vinyl production declined in favour of CDs taking off. Merry Christmas (original, not the beautiful red vinyl re-release) through to Rainbow are extremely hard to find and very, very expensive. They were produced when vinyl sales were low, the format was deemed ancient and archaic and Sony, especially, was trying to bring to life to Mini Disc. From Glitter onwards, they're a lot easier to track down but still go for large amounts of money. I have all the Sony albums on LP (her original stint), don't fancy owning any of the others for the prices they go for. I did have the box set of Memoirs on vinyl, but eBayed it when I needed someone to lean on when times got rough.

Re: MC's saddest heartfelt performance ever (84,101) (84,122) by Bill from the UK
I think Looking In beats that. That was a complete surprise when she delivered that, and did a pretty good job of it as well. Diamond encrusted sling and all.

Re: MC15 really means this (84,093) (84,114) by Bill from the UK
I don't think you really understand the impact and importance and popularity of Michael Jackson's Thriller. It is the biggest selling album in the world. To say MC15 is going to equal such a generation-defining and groundbreaking album is delusional. My prediction: it will come and go faster than Triumphant. Hopefully there will be some good compositions in there for us like there was on MIAM, but time will tell. GTFO was meh. Hoping With You rights the course.
