About Matty from Vancouver Canada: I love music of all kinds, with R&B and pop toping my list of favourite genres. I've been a Mariah fan since Charmbraclet, there was something about that album that connects on a deep level. Other favourite albums are Glitter, Daydream, The Emancipation of Mimi, and Me. I Am Mariah.

My Favourite Mariah Songs are: The Art of Letting Go, Fantasy & Shake It Off.

My Least Favourite album is Music Box.

My most start-to-finish listened album (don't-skip-a-track albums): Emotions, Butterfly, The Emancipation of Mimi and Me. I Am Mariah: The Elusive Chanteuse.

Mariah on Jimmy Fallon (101,616) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I just watched the interview. This is MC on the very top of her interview game. Gorgeous, engaged, hilarious, personable, and so loveable. It's been a moment since she's done the full talk show circuit, I'd love for that to happen again. The View, Kelly & Ryan, The Drew Barrymore show, Tamron Hall, the late nights etc.

Appreciation for "Bring on the Heartache" [sic] (101,611) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
This cover (Bring on the Heartache [sic]) needs way more love then it ever gets. The interpretation of this song, the video, the cloths, style and head scarf, the build up, the full belts, the whistle note, the electric guitar. This is what Rock-Riah looks and sounds like. I feel like it gets lost in the mix (no pun intended, Mix-ish) for some reason. What if this was the lead single from Charmbracelet instead of TTR?. This song makes a statement, and gives me all the tingles and feels. I’d love if Mariah did an ‘80’s style rock album like this. Give us raspy, give us pain, give us Boho fashion and the big hair dahling.

Mariah Carey - Walmart range (101,608) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
What's the "Walmart" collection by Mariah? Sorry, I live in Canada where Walmart isn't really a thing unless you want a cheap dressers, toilet paper in bulk or canned soup. You also have to drive at least 15 km from the city to find a Walmart. (This is absolutely no shade to Mariah, or Walmart shoppers. I'm just confused what these collections are.) My dream is that's it's a vinyl, a second vinyl, a perfume, a concert T and finally a stream of "Glitter" for all those Gez's that get it but at the same time don't.

Alternative playlist (no #1's or #2's) edition (101,582) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Love this playlist. Except Hero can't be on the set list (it's a number one), what's a replacement for Hero as the closer to your alternative concert?? No remixes of number ones either. Just the standard song release that's not within the top 2.

MSG (101,581) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Me, my partner and friends have our tickets to the December 9th Toronto show. Beyond worth flying across the country to see this show. I was at MSG for her New Years Eve show in 2010 and we still take about it.

Nick Cannon (101,562) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
It's 2022. There are 8 billion locus... I mean humans on this planet. There's no population shortage, anywhere. What is with this man's narcissism and need to ejaculate in every women that givens him a moment? 12 Kids? No one's seed is that good dude, not even you Mr. Cannon. stop trying to prove yourself.

Merry Christmas or MCIIY (101,517) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I'm 100% with you on this Robert, I listen to MCIIY three times more then Merry Christmas during the holiday season. It's an amazing album to put on for hosting events at home, so updeat and fun. I love the lush orchestra. I remember when she first released MCIIY that she said it is Christmas in the city verses Merry Christmas is Christmas in the country.

Migrate vs Obsessed (101,504) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Oooo. That's a tough one. Gen Z loves Obsessed, so that longevity is there. But Migrate gets my blood pumping and I love it. The only issue with Migrate is that autotune hasn't aged well. Without the Eminem controversy, I've wondered if Obsessed would have done as well as it did.

Heartbreakers video (101,497) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I think because [it] was a full cinematic experience, it had a story line, an alter ego villain and vengeance against an ex who is a famous actor. Then the extremely sexy remix video with the car wash, roller skates and black and white treatment. The videos couldn't be more different which was brilliant. I'd say her only videos after that, on that level where Touch My Body and Obsessed.

Soundtracks (101,496) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
True; I'd give Rainbow the prize for [lyrics], and [give] Glitter the prize for beats, flow and production. I think How Much, X-Girlfriend and Did I do That are really jarring in contrast to the beauty of songs like Bliss and After Tonight. I could never choose between Heatbreaker (including remix) and Loverboy (including remix) both songs still thrill me.

"Gimme [your love], cause I want my sugar [daddy], incessantly."

Soundtracks (101,490) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Bill, I absolutely agree with your point about "I'll be Lovin' u Long Time". That song is unbelievable and I'm shocked it didn't go to the top 5 (#58 on Billboard wasn't enough appreciation for such a jam). But to say Glitter wasn't as good as Rainbow is beyond offensive. I don't like Music Box, but I can understand its mastery. Glitter was a masterpiece, a far superior album to Rainbow IMO. Rainbow was a marketing and PR success, the actual music... It's such a hard album to listen start to finish. Most of Mariah's albums I can only listen start to finish. Rainbow and MIAMTEC are the two albums I feel have no flow or smoothness. They are a mish-mash of songs that don't flow or have a vibe imo.

Emotions, Butterfly, MOAIA and Caution are the most vibe centric albums, listen start to finish albums Mimi has produced.

Holy Trinity alternative (101,422) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
What if the Holy Trinity of vocals were: Mariah, Brandy (known in America as the "vocal Bible") and Aaliyah (the ultimate of modern R&B imo)? I've been deep into my Aaliyah and Brandy vinyls recently, and I acknowledge Mariah could mess with Whitney and Celine (those belts are unmatched). However, what instead we focused on Mariah Brandy and Aaliyah and their honey butter delivery and tone? Voice wise.

Thanks for the blasphemy warning, as someone who grew up in cult-Christian environment, I'll take my chances, friend. You have your spirituality, I have mine, and everyone on this board has the right to theirs. This isn't a religious or Christian board, so we don't need to go into warning about what a Jesus joke means. Apologies if I offended your beliefs personally. We don't all subscribe to one spiritual belief, entity or Christianity. With love and respect, I expect the same freedom to my beliefs in return.

BFF, I respect what you're saying, I just don't think we can accuse people of ignoring Mariah. She can be the butt of a joke and she can [also] be praised as one of the few living legends that ever were. I wanna push back a bit on this myth some lambs have that the public doesn't like her or enjoy her; she didn't get where she is based on 1990-1995 fans alone.

Re: The Pitchfork lists (101,386) (101,387) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
What is the "Mariah coolness" you keep referring to? Mariah was damn cool from 1990-1999. then 2005-2008. Then she became more popular then Santa Claus or Jesus Christ. I don't think she's under underestimated tbh. It was never "cool" to like Madonna in Canada, with millennials. Or a prince, yet they are musical geniuses.

Re: The Pitchfork lists (101,381) (101,384) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Fantasy is my [favourite] MC song of all time. It deserves all the flowers. My family knows to play it at my funeral lol (seriously). [People] complain when Mariah doesn't gets her flowers, [people] complain when she does get her flowers. Also, Puja Patel (the author of the Mariah selection) is 33 years old. Most Mariah fans are Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996). Also, Pitchfork has been in publication since 1996, it's not a new publication. So not sure where the bitterness is coming from. Of all 250 songs sifted through, of which competition is very stiff, Mariah came out on top. "It's time to have a [party], open [off] the Bacardi."

Re: Variety article - L.A Reid (101,351) (101,360) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Mariah “lost interest” in promoting E=MC2 because she had just miscarried, which as a newly wed would be heartbreaking for anyone. MOIA was a concept album (and a brilliant one).

Re: Global Citizen (101,334) (101,336) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Such an amazing performance. The crowd was on fire, and her voice sounded strong and beautiful. She was also so passionate and really present in the moment. I also loved the ballet dancers, during [Hero] and her speech about women's rights and "butterflies who are thriving in the margins".

Country not Jazz? (101,291) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
What if Mariah did a country [album], not a Jazz [album]? In the vain of "Right To Dream" and the more beautiful song about a "ribbon in her hair she takes out". I only heard it once, before it got removed from the internet but a Willy Nelson style album? Thoughts?

Little Mermaid - Halle Bailey (101,282) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
So the gorgeous star of the new live action Halle Bailey just announced there are four brand new songs on the soundtrack for the film. There were also rumours that Halle and Mariah recorded a song together (which was originally assumed to be for #Butterfly25), I wonder if it's for The Little Mermaid soundtrack and that's the "themed album" Mariah has been talking about.

Not Mystical now (101,159) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica) is one of my top two song on the Glitter album. I was obsessed with the video with the three Mariah's, it was all gold. It is gold, even now and one of her most fun videos. but ... I'm conflicted the way I was when R.Kelly was finally held accountable. MystiKal is facing a life sentence for rape and I'm curious now that at least two of Mariah's collaborators are going away for abuse to women if she'll take down their colabs from streaming (ah la Celine Dion "I'm your Angle") or if she takes the stance of separating the art from the artist? My circle of friends and family discuss this often, art vs. artist. With R.Kelly (who is musically significant) was a known predator in the public conscience since Aaliyah was 15 (and us as a culture made a joke of it), but what about if it's not R.Kelly, and it's a lesser known like MystiKal? Does Mariah react? If someone separates the art from the artist I respect that, and if you think the art is the artist, that's valid to heaven and back as well. Thoughts? I suffer this argument in my own heart with my abuser.
