Vocal nodules (102,317) by Terna from Nigeria
I think she should explore other options like speech therapy first, giving up bubbly and see if it helps, then surgery if it does not. There's qualities an sections of her voice missing now as a result of singing the way she does after developing nodules. 1996 is when Mariah damaged her voice touring with developing nodules (one could already hear that airiness creeping in) and then again in 1998 and finally 1999, her voice was shot - just [pop] in the [Rainbow] CD and listen. I look forward to seeing her blow again on stage but not just that, work with a qualified coach this time to maintain her instrument and be disciplined as a singer of her caliber should. Remind the world again why that name "Mariah Carey" is [music] personified.

Chaka Khan (102,316) by Terna from Nigeria
That statement has envy written over it. She isn't half the artist or singer Mariah is and she knows this. Chaka's career has been hit and miss, more misses than hits. I mean take away "Tell Me Something Good" with Rufus, "Through The Fire" and "I'm Every Woman" (a song Whitney Houston sang better if I might add) and there goes her career. "Sweet Thing" the song Mary Blige covered also is a better take than hers even if she wrote it. Smh. To say I was disappointed in how she carried herself in that interview is an understatement.

It's A Wrap EP (102,208) by Terna from Nigeria
I just listened to it on YouTube. This is so random and in a good way, for an obscure song such as this one to go viral and spin off a TikTok challenge. Lol, shows a new generation is discovering her back catalogue and that can only be a good thing.

Who cares about the Grammy's? (102,194) by Terna from Nigeria
That particular Grammy category is quite controversial, but also has a lot of boxes to check for one to win. What I noticed is that the body of work has to stand for something other than just a collection of hit songs. Most albums that have indeed won in the category were "themed" albums, but also powerful statements made by the various artists at that time. Notable works include: "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill", “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” by Outkast, "Taking the Long Way" by The Dixie Chicks ,"Faith" by George Michael to name a few. However, as in the case of Mariah, she's been robbed multiple times I would say in this category not just with "Daydream" and "The Emancipation of Mimi" but also "Butterfly" (her strongest contender) which was not even nominated - an album of the year kind of album without a doubt. It's not surprising to see Beyonce lose this category over and over, she isn't a true artist in the vein of Bonnie Raitt, Prince, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Alisson Krauss, Aretha Franklin, Santana etc. The closest she came was with the "Lemonade" album and in all honesty that was a much better record than Adele's "25" and Adele knew this too. Oh well, like Drake even said on their own show, the real reward is having feedback in the form of acknowledgment and gratitude from your fans and casual listeners that your music resonates with the masses and actually touches lives, now that is the true win, and Mariah especially is number one winner when it comes to that. We know it and they know it too.

Butterfly tour footage - Sydney (102,131) by Terna from Nigeria
You can hear her voice very clear in these clips, it's a very clear recording. Unfortunately, one can also hear how damaged her voice was even then (1998). How did you manage to fry your instrument in just 8 years? She's really struggling vocally especially on "My All" the incessant scratches one can hear and the whistle notes in "Emotions" are very weak and airy and almost not even picked up by the [microphone]. I don't know what Mariah's problem is, but one would think that developing nodules would've gotten her serious about the technical aspects of singing, how they came to be, what she did wrong and how to remedy the situation because any trained and qualified vocal coach would let you know. Instead she adjusted her singing style and the way she pronounced words going from rounded glossed vowel sounds, to a jarring unpleasant strained sound, adding even more pressure and kept on managing the situation. It's so unfortunate how she had this glorious instrument and just totally ruined it, literally threw it away.

Memoirs is underrated (102,120) by Terna from Nigeria
"That is the beauty of Mariah's catalog, there's still so much to explore because some of them didn't necessarily explore when they were released initially". Yes of course no one is denying this but fact is she needs to be releasing new songs not trying to make those old songs "happen" so to speak. They're still old songs that didn't get their chance for whatever reason, and the window of opportunity closed. That ship has long sailed and sunk at sea.

Memoirs is underrated (102,109) by Terna from Nigeria
Apart from "Obsessed" being released as a single and being a monster hit it was, I really did not see another tangible single release from "Memoirs" as to me Mariah was not really in search of [hits] per say. The album is "moody" as someone here pointed out and none of the songs single material. But then again, having only one producer team Tricky and The Dream was to blame for that. Save for "The Emancipation of Mimi", Mariah really did struggle in the 2000's and has ever since.

Never Forget You (102,095) by Terna from Nigeria
Yeah, same here. I feel this is the reason why we haven't gotten another Mariah [studio album]. I miss that a lot. She barely got "Caution" out and even then it was evident that something wasn't quite right with her voice. Where do we go from here? Well, I would suggest training her main voice (not the whistle/whisper register that register is parasitic and actually feeds off your main voice), and invest in singing straws. The human voice is very resilient since it is living tissue, and heals quite easily when bad habits are eliminated.

The vocal performance award (102,064) by Terna from Nigeria
One of the reasons I think Mariah lost so many "vocal performance" awards at the Grammys is the fact that most of her earlier recordings were "polished" so to speak, done in multiple takes and the best parts being used, giving her this flawless studio recording every time, especially the first half of the 90's. Yes she was always nominated (at some point Mariah was the most nominated female artist at the Grammys and most were for vocal performance) but she always lost to other females that one could hear most likely did those songs in one take. From the first album, [only] "Vision of Love" is sung in one take (the 2nd Mariah doing all that insane ad-libbing) and what do you know? She won for Pop Vocal and then again with "We Belong Together" another one take song, won best R&B vocal performance. So I do think the Grammys acknowledge singers who don't gloss their vocals. Just a thought. What do you guys think?

I Pray. (102,046) by Terna from Nigeria
This was a song she wrote for some boy in 2005 if I recall correctly, I never listened to his version but from the little clips I heard from the Oprah show, he [sang] it exactly like she does on her own version, which by the way I was over the moon when she finally released it on "The Rarities". This brings up the issue of the demos for "Butterfly" and the Allure songs. I find it very hard to believe those songs don't have her own version. Mariah you need to check that magic vault very well. Lol. My life will be complete if I hear her sing "Last Chance", "Head Over Heels" and "Where are You Christmas" from that era, [it] is very important for me, that "Butterfly" period was when I became a die hard fan and that version of Mariah.

Rolling Stone's 200 Greatest Singers (102,026) by Terna from Nigeria
Celine Dion should actually replace that number 8 Beyonce occupies, It's kinda [laughable] how they always try to have Beyonce sit among the greats and she just does not belong. Notable singers were missing, like was Dionne Warwick even there on the list?

Darlene and all (101,977) by Terna from Nigeria
I want her next number one to be a regular genre song not a Christmas one, enough of the Christmas decoration, hibernation stunt. Yes it is good that she gets to go number one every year, but I want another "We Belong Together", "Touch My Body", "Fantasy", "Obsessed", "Heartbreaker" moment where she hits number one with a regular song. It is important that that 20th number one not be a Christmas number at all.

Article: Mariah Carey scores milestone 10th week at No. 1 (101,941) by Terna from Nigeria
This is a big deal and we can already predict that over time this song is going to be the longest running Billboard Hot 100 #1 song of all time, a gift that will keep giving until the end of time, literally. Sorry Lil Nas X. Lol. How is this woman so blessed?

Whoopi Goldberg mocks Mariah (101,894) by Terna from Nigeria
The conscious effort to shade Mariah was thick in the air in that studio you could literally cut through it with a knife. Too [bad] Mariah is already considered "The Queen of Christmas" by this [generation] amongst many other titles – yes Whoopi she can and does have it all. Her [song] "All I want For Christmas is You" [trumps] all others I dare say past, present and future. It is that [good] a song, and isn't the album that song is from "Merry Christmas" the biggest selling Christmas album of all time? That is what qualifies her as the Queen of Christmas, she stays winning. Now everyone wants to have a magical Christmas song and album like she does. Often imitated, never duplicated.

So what (101,875) by Terna from Nigeria
"I hope to God she's not reading these messages." I sure do hope she is reading these messages so she knows what's up - that the facade has failed and ain't nobody gonna shell out hard earned money for a wack, mediocre show, by a lazy has been diva living on her past glory, something's got to give. You hibernated all damn year (literally) and this is what she could come up with? You could see the alarm and disgust on the audience faces. Say all you want about Tommy, but he made her be disciplined and her vocal quality in those times speaks for itself. As soon as he was out of the picture, look at the hideous shot vocals we got for "Rainbow". Ship her off to Iyanla Vanzant for rehabilitation already.

Supreme songbird (101,842) by Terna from Nigeria
Thanks for this, I hope she see this and realizes she's not fooling anyone, we can see it and so can the general public. Honestly, at this point its probably only the surgery that can save and repair whatever damage she's got going on. I always said her vocal issues stem from way back to at least 1994. That first tour did something to her voice. And it's blaringly obvious by the "Daydream" era. Sure she still does sound good, but one can tell already she's lost a good chunk of her main voice, maybe a nodule or something else and ever since then it's been downhill vocally for Mariah. Like Celine Dion, Mariah Should come clean. Enough of the façade already. People want to see you win Mariah, but you've got to want to win yourself too. Get professional help. She's never really worked with a vocal coach and at this point a speech therapist (does she even know new tricks of the trade like singing straws, humming and vocal fry exercises, warm ups for pre shows and cool downs for after shows? etc.) and that's why she's in this predicament today. Smh. I feel so worried for her. Get help Mariah, quit being so damn stubborn and delusional.

The [fans] which is what I am, are who made, make and continue to make her who she is - and whatever achievements she has achieved, or records broken - we her core fan base are directly responsible for that and she should never ever get that fact twisted. She is up there because of us (all caps), our money and undying love effort and support. You tell her [we] said so. For you to come here with the bullsh*t talk about her not caring is just plain dumb. Is she going to those shows to sing to herself? Fans purchased those high priced tickets. The least she can do and is obligated to do is show up on her A game, or at the very least something close to it. You must be one of those gremlins on her team only concerned about your paycheck.

Nodules and whistles (101,799) by Terna from Nigeria
You [said] it all honestly, and quite frankly I do hope she's reading this to read our honest opinions, something she can't seem to get from those around her since they are scared of losing their paychecks. This is exactly what Michael Jackson suffered until it was too late. Mariah needs to be booed off stage for her to be jolted back to reality and then do something about her voice like say hire a vocal coach. Like how did you get to this level? What kinda of singer doesn't train their main voice and only relies on the whistle register - which by the way is a parasitic register on the main voice (This is what diminished her voice quality). Mariah does not have a super head voice. Listen to Amel Larrieux.

Speaking of My All, [she] has never really sung that song half as good as on the album and even the original recording is flawed. With all that "singing through the nodules" she's doing. It is actually quite distracting and once you hear it you cannot really "unhear" it again. At this point, just retire the damn song already, because if I hear that "feel your body, feel your body" tired line one more time. Mariah does not have truthful people around her at all, [not] Trey nor Mary Ann nor Bryan Tanaka and it's so sad to see her spiraling down and becoming a one trick pony – Christmas.

Lol. You must be a kid so I will excuse your blatant folly and the way you responded to my message, which was quite frankly from a place of [love] and more importantly concern. What has wanting her to take her craft more seriously and be more disciplined when it comes to her instrument got to do with wanting her to change and me not having inner peace? Haha (I never indicated I was in turmoil). We love (all caps) Mariah that is why we are still here like what? 30 plus years later. I would've easily moved on from her but there's no way that would ever happen, not now and you know why because I did not leave her nor kick her when she was down, and practically the whole world turned their back on her. That was when I even "Stanned" harder for her. Why would I want to start now? You did not experience Mariah Carey in the 90's nor even the early 2000's like we did, you're "prolly" one of the new Lambies. When Mariah stood in front of an audience with a [microphone] you knew you were about to hear vocals no other singer could or is capable of producing. She was all about that voice and with the kinda artist she is that was enough. Nowadays it is the opposite; the lighting, ensembles (ugh I hate this word because of her), "darling", "the lighting" and all the other "crap" she picked up along the way that absolutely nobody cares for. Smh.
