Years ago Joni Mitchell released her "Hits" CD which had all her popular songs on them. She only put that album out on the proviso that she also put out a "Misses" disc, which was all the songs that didn't chart or never got a release. MC has a great catalogue of deep cuts no one outside this message board is familiar with. I'd love to see "Petals", "Close My Eyes", "Looking In", "Vanishing" and, of course, "Migrate" (that really should have been a single, thinking about it) have their day in the sun. Re: New release (83,600) (83,602) by Bill from the UK If it is (another) compilation, I hope it's either an updated remixes with all the post-Charmbracelet collabs and club mixes as there were some great ones. Or, I've always wanted a Duets album, where we have nice high quality versions of With You I'm Born Again, Hero with Pav, the full length Hopelessly Devoted To You, plus a whole host of others I can't even think of right now. I need to think about it properly. If it's another hits collection, or those damn 18 number ones again, I will be so angry. A real surprise would be a re-mastered debut album with the demo tape on the second disc. Now that (caps) would be a joy forever. (Wednesday 5 September 2018; 16:48)

Yes, Tommy kept Mariah sequestered from the outside world and thus she didn't, presumably, dabble in any substances that would harm her voice. But once she separated from Tommy she seemingly went from one extreme to the other. The over arching take away for me is, had Mariah been no more than just another artist on Sony's books like, I don't know, Gloria Estefan and she was happily allowed to carry down the more soul/old school sound she was doing on the Emotions LP, rather than being geared towards commercial music, I wonder where she would be now and what state. She might only have 5 number ones to her name, but she could well still sound as she did during the beginning of her career. But everyone made their choices. She walked down that aisle, she walked out of Sing Sing, and she also walked out the marijuana store in Aspen with bags and bags of purchases. It is what it is and we are where we are. As has been said, she needs to drop the act and do the best with what she has left. (Tuesday 4 September 2018; 12:55)

Re: Music Box songs ranked (83,565) (83,567) by Bill from the UK Agreed it is a brilliant song. I'm impressed the article picked up it was sung in the "legato" style. This is singing hushed and softly but with force and power behind it and is one of the most difficult techniques to perfect. I think MC even said at some point that it was the hardest song she ever had to sing. I'm glad AYNAF came out as top though. That is my fave from the album too. I went nuts when the completed, non-fade out version surfaced and we had all those beautiful extra vocals towards the end. Then of course there's the mellow Soul Convention Remix and the astounding C&C Club Mix that is up there with Dreamlover Morales Mix, I Still Believe/Pure Imagination and Fantasy ODB as one of her finest ever remixes. That scatting at the end she does makes me feel so good in (high note) siiiiiiide. (Sunday 2 September 2018; 14:29)

So Blessed (83,547) by Bill from the UK Help me out please. So Blessed. Last chorus. Does she sing an accidental extra syllable on the last "amazingly"? Since all time, I have heard her sing "amazing-ing-ly". I sincerely doubt a perfectionist like Mariah would have done that, but please tell me I'm not alone in hearing this. It's a lot different now because I remember back in the 90s you had no idea what was happening until you heard a new song on the radio. I remember in August 1995, sitting on my bedroom floor listening to the radio whilst playing with my rubick's cube (I was, and forever will be, a geek - side note, I can complete one in under 5 minutes lol) and I remember Fantasy came on the radio and I was like "huh, sounds a bit like Mariah" and carried on doing what I was doing. Then at the end as Mariah was ad-libbing over the final chorus, I remember Dr. Fox gushing "what an amazing new single from Mariah Carey" and me spazzing out, squealing, chucking the rubick's cube out of my hands, and diving to the cassette recorder and whacking "record" so hard I bruised my finger. I didn't even care what I was recording over haha. I got the last 30 seconds and played it over and over and over and sat by the radio all day waiting for it to be played again. If there are tracks like Unforgettable and Almost Home, then great. If we have tracks like Infamous, Why You Mad, Crapfinity, Can't Say No and The Star then I think I will cry. I'm not sure what is meant by an "aggressive" sound, but it doesn't sound like we're getting Dreamlover's sequel lol. I do have a question mark over big televised performances though as they are often subject to overdubbing the imperfections. But perhaps that's not fair of me to say that.
