About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

Re: "That's about me" song (82,779) (82,796) by Bill from the UK
Never Forget You. "I should have said I loved you, why didn't I just tell you?" Words that have stuck with me since my dear sister-in-law passed away in 2001.

Re: JD hate (82,785) (82,795) by Bill from the UK
Slipping Away was written by Mariah and Dave Hall.

Re: Dreamlover - live 1993 (82,776) (82,791) by Bill from the UK
Haha yes that's the part I mean. You know I always thought she sang "take me up, woooooooooooooooo, come on babe" and not "take me down". How weird.

Re: Dreamlover - live 1993 (82,760) (82,769) by Bill from the UK
Thanks for sharing Billy that was a great rendition. Did Mariah ever sing live the long closing note where she sort of crescendos down (if that's a term lol) through the note before the "come on babe" ending ahead of the acapella close out. I've hunted high and low but she always dodged it, even in these prime years.

Re: The Butterfly Returns (82,765) (82,768) by Bill from the UK
MIAM was 2014, so for all we know MC has been writing and recording material since then. The album could be in the can for all we know. I wouldn't read too much into it. If it is pushed back like MIAM was I wouldn't mind, as it will be better in the long run.

Re: Daydream album (82,739) (82,742) by Bill from the UK
Daydream's great, but lyrically I think Butterfly wins that fight and the vocals always seemed somewhat "brassy" to me. Merry Christmas was in a league of its own in that respect.

Normal version for me.

I almost forgot you hate every Mariah song ever lol.

Re: Slipping Away (82,653) (82,658) by Bill from the UK
Well, the song is clearly about their crumbling relationship so maybe he did pull rank and decide not to include it on the album. But then, why make it available as a B side? Maybe the strategy was to keep it in the back pocket to encourage single sales of Always Be My Baby? I guess we'll never know, but I'm glad it saw the light of day, even in this small way.

Re: Slipping Away (82,647) (82,652) by Bill from the UK
Slipping Away is an amazing song. How it didn't make the cut for Daydream, when the Daydream Interlude did, is beyond me.

Re: One song discussion with MC (82,599) (82,600) by Bill from the UK
Luckily everyone in the world except America got it as the closing track to the album. Such a wonderfully haunting finish to the album.

Re: One song discussion with MC (82,594) (82,598) by Bill from the UK
Great topic. My first thought was Thirsty so I can say simply "Nick or Damizza", but then I realised that would be a waste of time as I know it's about Damizza. I think instead I would choose one of her more ambiguous songs. Maybe Vanishing. I always thought it was about memories of her father, so I would love to know who she was singing about.

Re: Mariah quietly sold diamond ring from ex James (82,543) (82,577) by Bill from the UK
I agree, keeping the ring after the engagement ended in the first place was a very low rent and surprising move, and not something I would have expected MC to do. I say to myself maybe Stella influenced that decision, and now that she's out of the picture, Mariah's had a change of tact. I'm glad it's out of her life either way, and that she can now move on.

Re: Best ballad collaborations list (82,521) (82,526) by Bill from the UK
Great list. I'd include Diane Warren as well and add in Can't Take That Away. And of course Ben Margulies and Vanishing.

Re: New list (82,472) (82,482) by Bill from the UK
Ha, I can't really take credit for this idea. Here's my list. It's confined to the 90s because, well, that's all I listen to lol (except Mariah).
1993: The year I got into chart/pop music. Defined by Mariah Carey Music Box, Dina Carroll So Close, Janet Jackson Janet, Eternal Always and Forever and Ace of Base Happy Nation (first album I ever bought).
1994: Dina & Mariah over spilled into 1994. This was the year I also discovered my other favourite Tori Amos with her Under the Pink album.
1995: Daydream and Tina Arena Don't Ask
1996: Tori Amos Boys for Pele and Michael Jackson HIStory
1997: Butterfly and Tina Arena In Deep
1998: Started delving into back catalogues at this time and found out how great the 70s were. Stevie Wonder and Joni Mitchell both released a string of great albums during that decade.
1999: Pretty much as above, continued to live in my bubble and block out any new music except Mariah ha. I'm so boring, sorry.

Re: janet. turns 25 (82,463) (82,464) by Bill from the UK
1993 was a great year musically anyway, and I agree, Janet was a great album. Especially when I discovered Whoops Now by mistake. What a bonus that was. From those opening strings of Morning to the rainfall that finishes Sweet Dreams, every track and interlude in between works really well. That, Music Box, and Dina Carroll’s So Close defines 1993 for me.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,443) (82,444) by Bill from the UK
To the Floor is, by far, the best song on the album.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,434) (82,441) by Bill from the UK
I don't consider Twister an interlude. For me, it needs to be stated as such on the record.

Re: My thoughts on Stella (82,416) (82,422) by Bill from the UK
Agreed, and she has completely shot herself in the foot with her behaviour since her and Mariah parted ways. What artist of Mariah's standing (or any standing for that matter) would ever take her on as their manager after all of this? I get why she's suing everything that moves, it's likely her only source of income now.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,403) (82,406) by Bill from the UK
Wasn't it only Rainbow that had interludes, and two of them at that? Memoirs then had them. Maybe I'm forgetting in my old age. Janet has them as every other song virtually. I remember when Say Somethin' leaked and I was somewhat underwhelmed as it felt like an extension of Charmbracelet. Then To the Floor leaked (but as "Tonight"), and I felt it was great, but not single material. Finally when I heard It's Like That, sang in full voice with a clever lyric and reference to Run DMC I thought she was onto a winner. Can't believe it didn't do better than it did stateside. Then I heard the rest of the album and knew she was back and would have success. Didn't quite predict WBT's extended run at the top, but what a vindication if ever one was needed.

Re: Memoirs (82,381) (82,384) by Bill from the UK
It's not an album I make a bee line for usually, although when I do listen to it I realise I like every song on the album. Same goes with E=MC2. I also appreciate the one producer cohesiveness it offers. Ribbon, Betcha Gon' Know, HATE U, IWTKWLI, It's a Wrap are all excellent songs.
