Charmbracelet tour - Malaysia February 2004 (45,735)

Mariah is heading again for the second time in Malaysia in October 2014, so I just want to share my experience went to her concert in 2004. The show supposed to start at 8.00 pm but she only began at 9.15 pm. It's worth the wait, anyway. She started the show by sitting/sanding at the backseat of a convertible car and the driver drove round the stadium and Mariah waved and smiled to all her 30,000 fans that night. She performed 15 songs in total and the highlight of the show was when she showcased her powerful vocals belting her popular ballads; My All, Without You, Hero, I'll Be There and Through The Rain. Those 5 songs are very popular on the radio in Malaysia as well as in Asia. No lipsyncing or pre-recorded at all, trust me. Mariah sang live for the entire 1 hour and a half. Maybe her voice is more suitable to a warm climate. On her outfits, she only wore pink t-shirt and blue jeans throughout the show due to the protests made by certain Islamic extremists on her sexy and revealing outfits on stage. So I was very glad that Mariah didn't cancel her show and yet she obliged the dress code. On the next day after the concert, Mariah was commended by all the local press and medias for being a true professional. This really shows that Mariah is in fact a humble person and full of respect towards other religions, cultures.

Maybe the new era is 2015 (45,391)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
With the disappointment of the sales, and the disappearance of Mariah after the release of the album, maybe, just maybe, we all should just learn the art of letting go and move on. I hope Mariah would pull her act together, take this opportunity to get her rest, vocal rest, to prepare for her new era in 2015. Mariah could release her new single "Save the Day" or another new song in January 2015. Just my two cents.

YDKWTD lyrics (45,255)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
If you watch the first episode of American Idol (the one where Mariah wore her pink dress) Mariah did quote that lyrics "You love me more than you love sunny summer days". That episode was recorded somewhere in September 2012. Just a little trivia.

New single (44,954)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
This new single YDKWTD should't be wasted like other singles. Mariah and her team need to go all out in promoting this single. Release the video, visit all tv shows and perform. She should wear jeans again in the course of promoting the single. Reason why, wearing jeans would make her look young and this would attract the young crowd. This single needs to be her 19th No 1.

American Idol (42,501)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
Mariah looked extremely beautiful and classy throughout the live shows of American Idol. She was at her best weight, best color hair, and best style. My favourite Mariah look from American Idol would be during the semi finale (the one in the Vine video below). She looked so elegant, classy. I hope she would re-hire whoever that was styling her image at that time for this new coming album.

The album (42,301)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
Normally Mariah would release an album with less than 15 songs. If you recollect all the singles that she released as well as the song titles that she officially mentioned for the past few years then she would have an album that already completed and ready to be released and promoted. I really hope Mariah would named the album Hope Street. Let's take a look at the songs that are confirmed: 1. Triumphant 2. Bring It On Home 3. Mesmesrized 4. Save The Day 5. Almost Home 6. Beautiful 7. The Art of Letting Go 8. Thirsty 9. Dedication 10. You're Mine (Eternal) 11. Hope Street

Lead The Way (42,034)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
If Mariah picked Lead The Way as the first single off her first project (Glitter) from her new label (Virgin Records), maybe she would score another number one hit single in 2001. Even after 13 years, I'm still disappointed that Mariah and her new label picked Loverboy as the first single from their big budget project. What were they thinking? There were other great songs from that album to be picked from, and yet they picked Loverboy. Lead The Way was the right song to be promoted as first single because the song showcased Mariah's range as well as her vocal technique. The video could be Mariah singing in the empty theatre with the background visuals of the scenes from the movie. Imagine how perfect that could be.

New single (41,923)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
Mariah and her new team needs to release an uptempo single. YME had passed its peak. So far we haven't heard any news from her on her promotional activities that involving live performance. I really wish Mariah would copy all the promotional activities during TEOM era, particularly the promotional activities for WBT. I still want to give YME a chance just because I love the song. She can even release an alternative video (the one in the backgroud during her BET performance) just to hype up the song again. She even can do a video of her singing with the back up of an acoustic guitar just like Love Story at MTV with the red dress. There's so much more that she can do.

Last chance (41,714)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia

Oh yes, I still remember that song by Allure. That song was written and produced by Mariah. I do believe somehow that song was written for Derek Jeter. Maybe one day Mariah could do her version of that song, and Where Are You Christmas.

Live performance (41,478)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
Mariah needs to do as many live performances for this song. The reason why WBT topped the Billboard Hot 100 Singles for 14 weeks was because Mariah diligently performed that song on almost every major tv program in the US back in the day. It's a wasted opportunity to see Mariah made a small cameo at the Tonight Show with Jimmy without performing her latest single. She could even perform the single at MTV First with Sway and at the Bet 106&Park. The public (non-fans) and her old time fans need to be mesmerized (again) by her god given voice. I wonder whether Mariah still trains her voice or even do vocal warm up daily.

I love it! (41,153)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
I just listened to the studio version and I love it every second. But I do feel that certain melody of that song is just rehashed of Heartbreaker and Your Girl. I want this song to be on top of the charts. Mariah needs to promote it just like how she promoted We Belong Together.

Swimming in the ocean (40,926)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
Mariah posted a video where she was swimming in the ocean and shouted "7 more days". I really can't wait for the new era 2014. I can feel it, 2014 will be her second comeback year after 2005. Her activity of swimming in the ocean shows that she's been working out to get the best shape and swimming is also good for breathing and voice technique. She will bring back the voice to put the rest for all the lipsync rumors. She will slay 2014. I have faith in her.

Valentine's Unplugged (40,872)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
I believe I read somewhere that Mariah would do a special concert for fans somewhere during the Valentine's Day. My suggestion is that Mariah could do another unplugged concert, maybe around 7 or 8 songs in the setlist, and even perform the new single. Who knows, maybe Mariah could sing When I Saw You or even All I've Ever Wanted on that concert.

Vocal duet (40,785)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
The best duet for Mariah at this point would be with Celine Dion. Both are the true divas from the 90's that still making albums. I still remember watching VH1 Divas Live 1998 where Mariah and Celine sang their biggest hits and 1998 was the best year for both of them, plus Shania Twain. I really wish the era of the big powerful voice of divas would return in 2014 just like the 90's. It all could start with Mariah. I really want her to be on top of the charts once more. I know she can do it.

New hairstyle, maybe (40,771)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
I guess after 23 years and counting in the music industry maybe all she needs is a new hairstyle. Maybe. Imagine, how vast the coverage she will gets for the new hair and the new album. I'm not saying short hair like Miley, just neck-length short. For the title, she should named the album "Songbird" because that's who she is.

Usher (40,614)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
My bet is on Usher. Maybe Mariah and Usher could remix How Much and release it. The song is timeless, the melodies are catchy enough for a radio hit, especially when Mariah sings "just me and my boyfriend" and also "that's how much I love you" by Usher. I'm listening to that song now.

Mariah: unplugged and acoustic (40,553)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
That should be the name of her concert. It's about time Mariah changes all her old songs arrangement to an acoustic and unplugged version. Meaning, it would only be Mariah and her microphone and be backed by only a guitar or piano. Just listen to her recent performance at Jimmy Fallon where it's only her and a piano. She can also take her time to finish the song (ala Whitney style).

The Emancipation era (40,515)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
Mariah and her management team should duplicate the strategy of promotion during the era of The Emancipation. In 2005, Mariah promoted ILT, WBT, SIO and DFAU on every major tv shows and award shows. Due to that vast promotion all those singles climbed the top charts in Billboard. It's not rocket science, just go out there and promote. That's all it takes to achieve successfull single and album.

My All SNL 1997 (40,258)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
If I could pick one live performance of Mariah and show and brag about it to the non-fans, then I would pick My All live at Saturday Night Live 1997. The performance was all about vocal control and technique. She sang falsetto for the first chorus, middle range for the second chorus, and high register for the final chorus. Plus, Mariah definitely looked like a million bucks there. Her outfit was classy with the red top, black jacket and long black pants. Her hair was long, straight and honey-blonde. I really wish all the haters and all the youngsters of this generation could watch this performance and be mesmerized by her vocals and her looks.

The new era would begin in 2014 (39,994)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
I'm trying to be optimistic here. After a dismal performance of Triumphant, Almost Home, #Beautiful and TAOLG, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Mariah's big comeback after being a mother would begin in 2014. I really want Mariah to take her deserved break during this winter and enjoy watching her holiday songs climb the charts, and come back to launch her first single in January 2014 and drop the album in April 2014 (TEOM and E=MC2 were both released in April). This is my two cents.

Singles from MOAIA (39,638)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
Based on the article, I do believe that Standing O would be the perfect lead single. The song would made the public anxious and curious to know who's the identity of the male friend that broke Mariah's heart, and this will build anticipation for them to buy Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel to get to know other stories from Mariah. For the second single, I would pick 100% (unreleased track) because the song is so inspirational yet catchy chorus for the public to sing along. 100% could be Mariah's new version of Make It Happen. The third single, I would pick Angels Cry and the fourth single would be Up Out My Face.
