Cruise Control (68,978) by darrian liu from taiwan
Can't nobody can't nobody tell me that this song ain't a number one. E=MC2 is my least favorite album out of all Mariah albums but the hit potential of the songs in this album is unreal. We've established that Migrate is her 19th number one that got away but I feel that Cruise Control is also one of those songs.

Re: Albums (68,961) (68,977) by darrian liu from taiwan
The One has hit potential, it's a shame that they didn't release it as a single. But I think Boy is really catchy and the melody is super easy to remember, it's a cute song.

Albums (68,899) by darrian liu from taiwan
I recently discovered that Mariah really is good in making albums. Prior to this past 3 months, the only Mariah albums I've listened to in its proper sequence (without shuffle, or cherry picking songs) were Daydream, Butterfly, debut and MIAM. So far, I've listened through Rainbow, Glitter, Charmbracelet and MOAIA and they all are beautiful albums. I've established that I absolutely adore Glitter, but the albums that really impressed me the most were Rainbow and Charmbracelet, due to their background stories. Rainbow was a rushed album just so that Mariah could get out of Columbia and I don't get how could she could craft a good album while rushing. The only songs there that didn't do it for me were Did I Do That? and X-Girlfriend. Charmbracelet was made after Mariah suffered that 2001 trainwreck and I could only imagine the pain she went through in that era (all people dismissing you and rejecting you, all that humiliation), and yet, it was such a great album. The only songs that I can't like in CB was You Had Your Chance and Irresistible. Although in one of my earliest posts said that I didn't like Boy (I Need You) and You Got Me, both songs have seriously grew so much on me. Mariah seriously has immense talent.

Mariah's live singing (68,715) by darrian liu from taiwan
Is actually improving right now, but she could do much better and possibly change the public perception of her voice if she rearranges her songs, ala TGIFY. The problem is she won't budge and continue to sing her songs in her original arrangements (although the keys are lowered), and that's what making people constantly compare her voice now with her 90s voice. Mariah sounds (all caps) magical in acoustic settings, just look at what happened in Jimmy Fallon (both the surprise and the Christmas one) and those various TGIFY Vegas performances. It seems like her pride is too big for her to see those possibilities and accept that her voice just isn't the same anymore. And when you encounter change, you have to adapt and that's what she's supposed to do. Pull a Lady Gaga (her AMAs performance is poignant, absolutely beautiful) and do stripped down performances with just a guitar and make new vocal arrangements for her current voice, I know that for sure, she can't lip in those performances (the backing track would really sound out of place and obvious) and so she has to sing live. My All acoustic and Vision of Love acoustic would sound super lovely, don't you think?

This (all caps). This post is amazing.

Re: Mariah's popularity will never recover (68,582) (68,591) by darrian liu from taiwan
That means we absolutely should give Rihanna 3 more number ones - that way we'll light a fire under Mariah's butt and get her going again. I really want to see in person that airplay and chart dominance she had in 1990s and 2005.

Mariah's newest AIWFCIY performances (68,435) by darrian liu from taiwan
To be frank, I am disappointed with her performances in Toronto and the ABC special. The ABC special isn't released yet but from the raw video, it sounds like either she lipped the whole thing or she sang live but was overpowered by the backing track. I wish she would show off her vocal improvements, because both performances in Toronto and the special aren't showing it. On second thought, after watching the mic feed of Toronto, I think Toronto sounds pretty good.

Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (68,350) by darrian liu from taiwan
And this song though, if only Mariah cut back some of the unnecessary verses, it could've been a real hit. The bassline is pretty mean and the melody is catchy. It's just that those rappers' exclamations and yells sound grating. If she kept the rap verses shorter and sweet, this song has a big hit potential.

Glitter album (68,349) by darrian liu from taiwan
I've been obsessed with this album for the past 2 months. Before I hadn't really listened to the entire album but I decided to give it a try and literally it's the only thing I've been playing. All My Life is one of those songs that could've been big but just didn't blow up. Ugh this album is amazing.

She looks beautiful, but what is she wearing? It looks kinda odd to me.

Re: Patti Labelle (68,191) (68,197) by darrian liu from taiwan
Plus, Patti sold 50 million records worldwide - honey, that's more than 10% of Mariah's record sales of 200 million. Do the math.

Re: Patti Labelle (68,191) (68,193) by darrian liu from taiwan
To me Ms. Patti is such a joy to watch and listen to. Her gusto and delivery gets me so emotional, it's super obvious that she truly loves singing and performing. She ain't just another "screaming gospel singer"; she's the Godmother of Soul for a reason. Her power and resonance, are nearly unmatched across contemporary music. Yes, her style isn't for everyone, but she's obviously more than just "considered a great singer". To me it's almost disrespectful to just consider her "a great singer".

Patti and Mariah (68,186) by darrian liu from taiwan
Both legends in their own rights, but to me comparing their vocals doesn't make sense as both are really different in how they use their voices. Mariah's forte is singing unique runs with impeccable agility and ease in every register she has and texture manipulation. Patti is the classic gargantuan voice soul belter.

Again, completely unrelated to MC but (68,155) by darrian liu from taiwan
I hope everyone of you, especialy those living in the USA (even more if you're part of the LGBTQ+ community and/or a person of color) can stay hopeful and optimistic after the Trump win to the White House. The bigotry and racism will not tear you guys down.

Thank you for the beautiful words Mimi L, it's happening in Jakarta but people from all over the country are coming here to Jakarta to rally. They were enraged at what Jakarta's governor said about Islam (and trust me, his words were so twisted and taken so much our of context). The problem is, he happens to be Chinese and Christian. I hate how racism still exists.

Completely unrelated to MC but (67,983) by darrian liu from taiwan
In my country there is this mass demonstration which can possibly turn into a big riot (the masses are literally flooding the streets) and this is all due to racism and discrimination against my religion. Here in Indonesia, I'm of a Chinese descent and am a Christian and since the majority of people are Muslims, my people are being targetted (for our race). Please pray for my country, I'm so terrified. There's so many being damaged and raped, killed or hurt. I'm even terrified to step out of my house.

Re: Article: Mariah to perform at "VH1 Divas Holiday" concert (67,937) (67,949) by darrian liu from taiwan
We have to do this and at least get AIWFCIY into the top 10. Third week of December would be ideal for the streaming/ buying/ requesting frenzy to occur.

Toronto (67,947) by darrian liu from taiwan
Mariah sounded decent there. The voice is noticeably drier, frailer and raspier what we heard in Vegas, Beacon or SSFT. It's probably due to the break she had from performing but she needs to lay off the alcohol and "dates" with Tanaka and instead replace them with something more productive. She needs to up her work ethic, when it's promotion time she gotta stop the partying and train her vocals instead. I want her to sound optimal in her VH1 Divas and Beacon shows as well as other possible performances. By the way, who is excited about the carpool karaoke? I wonder when they would release the episode.

All this drama (67,811) by darrian liu from taiwan
Is super confusing to me. I'm just gonna listen to Mariah's music and watch her performances. Those were what made me fall in love with Mariah, not all of this nonsense drama. Praying so that Mariah can solve all these problems.

Re: New sound? (67,695) (67,712) by darrian liu from taiwan
I'm all for Mariah getting into a more raw, stripped down sound for her next album. Her voice currently is similar to Lady Gaga's actually, it's just that Mariah still has more range and agility and less nasality than Gaga. Both has that warm, earthy timbre right now that suit acoustic songs really really nicely. But I also want Mariah to take more risks musically too, just like what Bey did in her self-titled and Lemonade. If Beyoncé can nail those risky, genre-straddling songs, Mariah can probably start a musical revolution with those kinds of songs with her immense talent (as long as she works with other producers other JD, etc and she really gives her absolute all in the project, in the promos, vocals, songwriting and performances).

Drama (67,596) by darrian liu from taiwan
Fire Stella already. Seriously. Instead of shutting the rumors down, she decided to fire things up. Foolish. Is this what she thinks would pull ratings up for MW? Is this what she thinks would be good for Mariah's image? All these stories being planted are so wack, from Packer's mental problems to violence to Tanaka. Can Stella do anything right? Mariah, why would you let your manager do this? You have nearly 3 decades of experience in this industry. Even I could think of something better for the hype than Stella. Hell, Mariah should fire Stella and make this board her group of managers. We would do a much better job at this.

Packeriah's end (67,538) by darrian liu from taiwan
I hope that Mariah is okay and that people around her are supporting her. Perhaps Stella's #empoweryourgirls thing will actually be a help for Mariah to get over Packer. In times like this, with the split and the cancellations of tour (and the negativity around Mariah), we should stick together and show Mariah that the lambs still got her back.

Cancellation of the SSFT tour (67,532) by darrian liu from taiwan
I couldn't believe this. I mean, yeah, Team MC is so darn messy but I didn't expect it to be this bad. We need answers, Mariah's getting death threats online. Team MC must arrange for Mariah to do a tell-all interview regarding this issue and really set the record straight and publicise the interview as much as possible. That info about the promoter is still not enough. Moreover, this is nearly Mariah's season. I don't want this to hinder AIWFCIY's performance sales wise.
