Mariah returns to Las Vegas for The Butterfly Returns

Mariah Carey has announced that she will be returning to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for a new headlining residency, The Butterfly Returns. The new show will showcase Carey's iconic vocals and selections from her extensive back catalogue. She will be performing dates in July, August and September 2018. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday 4th May but you can get early access to preferred tickets and Meet & Greet Packages by registering for the Honey B. Fly Live Pass at mariahcarey.com.
Carey previously performed her hugely successful residency Number 1 to Infinity at The Colosseum in 2015 to 2017. She performed 50 shows over that time and picked up rave reviews from critics and fans. In recent years Carey has thrown herself back into live performance with tours in Europe. In December she brought her All I Want For Christmas Is You tour to the UK for the first time.
Carey has been sharing snaps on Instagram showing her in the studio working on new music so we're hoping a new album will arrive before the end of the year. Her last single was I Don't (featuring YG), which was released in January 2017, and her last new material was The Star from the film of the same name late last year, which picked up a Best Original Song nomination at the 75th Golden Globe Awards.

So if Mariah is in Las Vegas in July, August and September, has an international tour in October and November, and the Christmas shows in December, will she have time to finish her album this year?

Unless she got a lot of songs done while she's been on break I highly doubt it. I had forgotten all about the international tour before the big Christmas explosion. That's a lot.

Mariah's new adverts look amazing. I hope we get a new single and album on the same date. Maybe she'll pull a Beyonce and drop the album with no warning in May or June. She wanted to do it with MIAM but Island refused and even issued a statement contradicting her which is why she basically abandoned the album after promoting You're Mine (Eternal).

I love this. A great poke in the eye for Hella, who couldn't even get her back into Caesars Palace and only a hotel. There is a small part of me that is wishing that "The Butterfly Returns" is the new album title.  Anyway, will be interesting to see if she does a different setlist.
