Mariah's funny turn

The singer, whose last acting attempt ended in a "nervous and emotional breakdown", has reportedly flown to New York to meet with bosses of cable channel UPN. Insiders say the diva has already "impressed" them with her acting ability, with one source adding: "She is very funny and has a lot of acting talent."

But her 2001 debut movie, "Glitter", was a disastrous box-office flop after its release was postponed for three weeks when Mariah was hospitalised for stress. Mariah said at the time that acting and singing in "Glitter" was more work than she had ever imagined.

She told journalists two months before checking into the New York clinic: "I'm honestly really, really delirious and stressed out and overworked and doing too much. I haven't slept in, like, two weeks. I want my fans to know that this is a freaking, complete clown-fest."

Earlier this year, Mariah, 34, was voted as the worst celebrity at signing autographs in a poll conducted by American magazine Autograph Collector.
