About Orkun from The Netherlands: Musician

Final thoughts (45,804) by Orkun from The Netherlands
PJW, Thank you for being brave and actually get what I typed. Webmaster and everyone else (most): I had no positive posts and yours were? I said, the album wouldn't sell. It didn't. YDWTD, you guys were screaming for that to be a single. I favored Thirsty, by far. And many other stuff. Now, we are a few months further. And? Does it make us happy when we are right? Sometimes. But for me, this is not one of them. JD called Mariah fans stupid. Such a hater he is, right? I will never ever post here again. Peace and love to everyone who does or doesn't get me.

Webmaster, really? (45,801) by Orkun from The Netherlands
That was not his advice. That was my advice. What you are pointing out, is what I pointed out. Don't twist it. The following part is not meant for you per se. And to be fair, if people really think that my posts are ill intended, they really are very wrong and don't have the courage to speak up. What I see is (not all), there are many pessimistic people here who claim they are optimistic. The "yes man". One so called optimist even says "I don't care if she playbacks". I don't even have words for that. Yea, let her be her own DJ in her concerts Mr/Mrs Optimist. At least a few thousand people agree with the "optimists" globally. Just checked the view count on YouTube. I am a professional musician and to me, you settled down for this. I didn't. She is able to do much better. Yes, let me be the pessimist. What a joke. Seriously.

Abraham (45,793) by Orkun from The Netherlands
You are the one with the criticism. You criticize fans who critisize her. Continuously. Why do you always criticize me and label me as one? So be an example of what you stand for and accept me as I am, and everyone else. Do you really think I am not aware of the possible judgement I will get when I post my opinions on here? I will express my thoughts untill my last breath. And as for me for not being a fan, according to you. Wow. Try to accept diversity in life. I would never say you are not a fan. At max, you are just a different fan than I am. You got a problem with that? Also fine. Final note: my critisicm has always been about music. Other things you mention, are your frustrations. Not mine.

Meteorite performance (45,786) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Painful to watch. Katy Perry is, in my opinion referring to this, when she says "Sucking at Mariah Carey karaoke". Yes, she was that bad.

Dissing Madonna / African kids (45,593) by Orkun from The Netherlands
If I remember correctly, Madonna indeed dissed Mariah first and what we see on YouTube was Mariah's response. Madonna said : "I'd rather kill myself than being Mariah. She is so dumb." So Mariah replied. About being skinny and the African children comment, I remember back in the day, Mariah and her manager said that she never said such thing and it was all a big big lie.

Don't leave Mariah alone (45,531) by Orkun from The Netherlands
(Webmaster, thank you for your 45,528 message. Perfectly said.) And Shelly, I feel my response to you may have been a little harsh. I apologize for that. The more I read you, the more I like you actually. I don't understand the messages that say, leave Mariah alone. She is alone already. Don't you get it? After her family and close friends, we, her fans, are the only ones who is real to her. I remember distinctively, during a recent pre red carpet show, she was being interviewed, being all Mariah as we know. But all of a sudden the adorable Dem Babies appeared from a distance (not seen on camera) and Mariah's face changed that instant second, very sweet, very fragile and her eyes were screaming "the only thing that's real", calling out to them saying "ohhh Dem Babies". I got teared up by that moment because it was pure. So lets not leave her alone. Once she finds her peace, she will come back to us and truly realize that we have been waiting for her succes and happiness all along. To me, if she ever goes on stage bare foot, even for 1 song only, it would mean "I'm back and I've missed you so much." Peace.

Shelly (45,517) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I hear you and I really like your response. To me, it sounds honest and real. For the record, of course we are all fans and I believe there is not even one person on here who is a hater, as they call it. I'm very grateful for her music and that will never change. The thing is, I wrote on here some similar things before her album came out and I was being told regularly things like, "How dare I, how could I, etc." Someone here also says if I was a musician over 40, I'd go down too. Well, of that person was the exec producer of Mariah's last album, he/she would be fired. Because Mariah would blame that person. A little note (not meant for Shelly): I never told anyone on here what to do or what not to do. Merely sharing my thoughts. So many fans got turned off by responses of other fans. And yet we wonder where her fan base has gone. And I'm skipping many topics atm, like many of us. I hope the day where we skip all the topics will never come. Peace.

Shelly (45,507) by Orkun from The Netherlands
What apology? How do you get that conclusion? Owning up means to take responsibility. Read between the lines. There aren't many.

Personal sum up (45,499) by Orkun from The Netherlands
She needs to own up to her many many mistakes. She never does. So this attitude is taken over by many fans too, not all. The singles that Mariah wanted to be released in the past didn't do well. Her songwriting skills have been going down big time. The album is just not good. The vocals are so overproduced that it sounds robotic. The lip syncing. Why did she never say that she does sing live? Because she knows she isn't. Sure, it's safer to sing in the studio and it's hard to hit some notes live. But come on, it's not only 1-2 notes she misses. She misses like a full octave at least. Even like ten notes. That doesn't add up. I'm excluding her head voice. She needs to be real again. Someone who playbacks is all about image, divaisms, Photoshop and auto tune, can not be down to earth as that person claims to be. This is my truth on the whole topic. Her personal life is hers. I'm talking music. Peace.

Certain (44,434) by Orkun from The Netherlands
My thoughts on the album is known by know and I won't repeat myself. And I really don't want to get in the way of the fans who honestly do like the album. What I am certain of is the following: I was 14 in 1990. I'm a songwriter and recording artist because of her. She is 100% one of the angels in my life. God knows how many times I listened to her to find comfort. And I did, more with her earlier recordings. After this album, Mariah will come clean and explain it all. And she will come back next time with a more solid album and re-write history. And the next album won't be late. A year maybe. And she will stop lip syncing. It's hard being Mariah. But real fans know her. She is a fighter. So are we. Mariah, remember who you are. Gimmicks really can go too far sometimes. Single choices may be wrong, but they are still written by you. You can do much much better. When the walls you mention are up, we notice and understand. But when they are up all the time, we get disconnected. The walls are a double edged knife. I do believe Mariah has to prove herself again. And she will with the next album. Because she truly is gifted. Just a little lost and that of course very human. I'm gonna say it: I love Walter A. I hate JD. I love Whitney. I hate Christina. I like Ariana, but she's so not Mariah. I used to like Nick, until he hurt my angels feelings with that stupid interview. Nick is not a funny comedian. Mariah on the other hand can crack jokes anytime. .

Charts (44,141) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I don't trust the reviewers. Most of them are paid for. I do trust my own musical taste and ear. I expect a top 5 album entry and drop significantly after that. Proof? A lot of fans are saying that we accept her voice has changed and we should make peace with it, and even forget W. Affanesieff because that's in the past. Critics say, before every new Mariah album, that it's the kind of album she would make in the 90's. So it makes no sense. I do love Walter's songs. Mariah's ego is killing her. We will know in 2 weeks from now. I hope I'm wrong, but I feel very strongly about it that my ears are musical enough to predict this. I'm just an honest, non-paid fan. This album? No chance. I'm really sorry.

Well (43,954) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Beautiful and Thirsty are my only favorites. I'm not feeling the album. Sad for me. I wish. Truly.

What just happened? (43,682) by Orkun from The Netherlands
YDNWTD, is this a joke? TMB was sung in a much lower key to begin with. That's the song she opens with? The new song is "I'm that chick you like" part two and it really really is a very bad song. "Baking like ham"? Are you kidding me?

Beautiful remix / Thirsty (43,650) by Orkun from The Netherlands
The #Beautiful remix, I didn't like and that's ok. To me, it sounds like a remix of a Real To Real song called "I like to move it move it" with a few lines of #Beautiful. Btw, the rapper on Thirsty, he sounds a lot like Nick Cannon, but he isn't. I expect the video to have "pulses" during the chorus. Black screen first and Mariah appearing during "you're thirsty" and disappear. And repeat. Which would fit. Even parts black and white. Mariah mention before that the Idol finalists were singing backing vocals. It could be Thirsty, the mid section. Because that part sounds more like an rnb girl band rather than Mariah alone. Like the 90's band SWV. Thirsty, to me, is gonna be a big hit in the U.S.

Great (43,547) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I've been very critical usually. But Thirsty is a banger. Finally. Well done Mariah.

Re: Jeremey (43,055) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I agree completely with you. #Beautiful is the best song imo in a long time and very fresh. My definite favorite of the bunch. To me, Beautiful is the only exception. Great song. The rest was not creative or new at all. I promise I want to be wrong so much. And if she does have fesh sounds and good songs, I will post on here with a big happy smile on my face and say "now that's our girl".

Not a full album (43,017) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Beautiful, TAOLG and You're Mine are on the album. We are only waiting to hear 7-8 songs more. I don't expect new stuff happening on the album. It's gonna be the same old repitition. I don't get a creative feeling from this album at all. I'm even angry with almost everything that's been going on. Damage controle? How far can you stretch it?

No secret at all (42,922) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I personally do think the album was gonna pushed back, but the overload of criticism made them change their mind. This is not a secret release. The only secret is the album title, cover and single. For the record, not only pop music is marketing influenced but everything. Every genre. They released a promo video of her well deserved accomplishments. Isn't this marketing too? I'm happy it gets released. Truly. I just miss the honesty. JD was nervous during his last interview and to me, it felt like he didn't support her choices but he just simply followed orders. I didn't feel his confidence. Trying to prove she could still sing with TAOLG? What kind of a statement is that? It's like hanging a big poster in a public place that says "everybody knows that smoking is bad". If so, why the poster if you believe everybody knows it?

Total mess (42,778) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Our love for Mariah makes us blind. If any other artist was doing what she was doing, we would trash it like no other. She always says what advice she would give to the Mariah that came out 20 something years ago. I wonder what the young Mariah would tell the current Mariah. Out of excuses. Enough marketing lies.

Open letter to Mariah (41,767) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Mariah, I have a feeling you will read this. I'm actually sure because it comes from within. I hope you realize how much we love you. And we get you. Please, don't give up. We all know you have it in you. Let the fire burn again. Let the light once again shine through. Realize that you are us and we are you. Remember your essence and your beauty within. You haven't lost it. You just forgot. Believe in the songs once again you write. Music won't let you go unless you let go of music. You are our angel. Please find your balance once again. You saved many of our lives. Now allow us to save you.

Alex (41,680) by Orkun from The Netherlands
Apologizing for liking a song? No one ever should indeed. What I wrote and what you say are oranges and apples. I agree with every word you wrote down.

Being fair (41,664) by Orkun from The Netherlands
When some of us wrote here that You're Mine wouldn't do well and it's a mediocre song and radio wouldn't support it, me being one of them, many lambs said we were kind of haters and bashing the song. If I was proven wrong, I'd happily apologize and write on here I was wrong and I'm very happy the song did have chart succes dispite my opinion about the song. I truly am a fan. It would be fair to expect the same from some of those who claimed otherwise. I'm just saying. Fair play.

Journey (41,462) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I'm thinking that "Journey" is her album title. Or something with Journey in it. Mark my words.

Radio release? No (41,382) by Orkun from The Netherlands
I honestly think that Mariah's management will not promote in to the radio at the given date. They said that because they want to see if the song is loved by the public or not. That's why they gave it some time. If it doesn't do well, they won't invest in the song. If it does well, they will. My guess is that they lie about waiting for the song to pick up by itself and then sending it to the radio. If it's up to them, they will send the song to the radio regardless. I don't believe them. To sum it up, the song flopped. And no radio will follow. I expect either a delay of the album or a new single very soon. I don't hate the song but come on. Except it's intro, it's marshmallow music. Ego is her worst enemy and it's getting worse. She disses Walter A. and JD, Ariana, etc. Who's next? She has the talent but not the motivation anymore. Will she ever get it again before it's too late? Once again, the radio picking it up next week? Hell no.

Nipple? (41,212) by Orkun from The Netherlands
At the news section with the headline that says "A brief history of..." isn't that her nipple that I see on the left (her right side)? It's not an issue for me. But seriously, everything she does is the same for the last 7 years. [...] This saddens me. I'm a fan. [...] She said recently that belting all the time is boring. Well I'm sorry but so is whispering. All the time. I'm fed up by waiting for a climax to hear some singing. And the quality of lyrics and melodies go down. I truly wish she gets it together. She is a mess now. She lives in the succes of the past. Always trying to recreate a moment or song from the past. Beautiful is her best in years. The songs she wrote in the past 7 years are still We Belong Together replicas. So boring. I have lost faith in her. I'm sorry.
