About Gloria from Hong Kong: Hello!

Re: Daydream album (82,742) (82,744) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I also think Mariah perfected her lyrical prowess in Butterfly. They touch most of her personal issues, move hearts and scream poetic. Her vocals might not be at her all time best but they just sound right to the themes, and less power showcase compared to Daydream. Nothing goes beyond Butterfly when it comes to transition - musically and characteristically. There, her greatest work, my all time love.

Re: Slipping Away (82,683) (82,704) by Gloria from Hong Kong
If we could not add one more track to the already perfect album, then it must well be a strong candidate to replace Long Ago, they do sound alike and talk about fading love. But then, I'm just grateful Slipping Away got released (B side still counts), otherwise it could just end up nowhere. I love most of the MC catalogues, only a handful I can stand on repeat 24/7 (for real, day and night non-stop, I did it), I can proudly say this is one of them. Now I wonder if any of you have a song that you can handle a 24-hour loop. Emotions anyone?

Re: Skinny legend (82,700) (82,703) by Gloria from Hong Kong
From what I saw "skinny legend" is just an joke circulating among fans who are being sarcastic about weight obsessing media, yet true fans love her no matter how she looks or weighs. If you are interested in how it started, try Google. And I'm happy to see her back in confidence and that's certainly what makes the interview truly enjoyable and on point, I couldn't help with my grin while watching it, I agree it's one of the best in recent years.

Article: Mariah Carey did not throw James Packer computer out (65,629) by Gloria from Hong Kong
Give us a break. When you give yourself a name of "Truth" yet barely believing it, it's almost as absurd as the false report. I meant no offense, just saying.

Olivia Newton-John (53,775) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I don't know they remain friends after the Australian show back in the 90s but it's good to see Mariah hanging out with female singers (not rappers). Maybe a second collaboration will do even better. Plus, I can't remember the last time Mariah shared her stage with a female vocal. That one with Whitney is my all-time favourite. By the way, Daily Mail sends really confusing messages about MC. The recent interview is one of the best I've ever seen, yet their reports were consistently harsh on MC. If I'm not mistaken, MC has a reputation among Aussie fans. She got great reviews and sales there, right? The media people are like sharks, once they smell blood, they will bite and tear every bit of flesh, and there is no stopping. Quoting the news, "The diva has just started her #1 To Infinity residency in Caesars Palace, featuring all of the singer's eighteen US No. 1 hits. But whether she will be able to manage the demanding show up to her final date in February 2016 remains to be seen." What? The first leg didn't count? P.S. You may read the article here.

Infinity symbol (51,740) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I just found out that the Infinity symbol was incorporated into the butterfly, I think it is cute and I love that little finding. However, the Mirror article on Mariah's figure really irritated me to infinity. I believe the new cover art is an old picture, or the artist behind this picture must be making a miracle. And there is not a single cover art free from photoshopping, believe it or not. Nowadays it's the market strategy to make everything look good, and efforts are made to sell the package rather than the actual quality. That's the rule people play in these days. Wake up cavemen, it's the 21st century of capitalism and we already have iPhone 7 in progress.

Reveal Mariah (51,642) by Gloria from Hong Kong
Glad to see Shelly's back. Love your sweet posts. By the way, the suspension-building thing seems to work. By the time I am writing this post it's 55%. The rest of the album art must be legs, but people are still trending the hashtag Reveal Mariah. It's always so good to see Mariah and her team on track promoting something. One more thing, seeing Uptown Funk number one for 14 weeks is a kind of panic. Would it hit One Sweet Day? Oh no. I know the record is meant to be broken but not too soon. No, who am I kidding? No one should ever take way the throne of One Sweet Day.

Shelly (50,984) by Gloria from Hong Kong
We definitely enjoy your company here. You are such a sweet and lovely person and always have hope on Mariah. I really like reading your posts and I am sure your departure will be a great loss here. Anyway, hope everything is ok with you and please come back when you feel you're ready. We need you. Love, Gloria.

Andrew (50,982) by Gloria from Hong Kong
When I saw Andrew's post (50,961) I was shocked. For the first time I understand why you come here no matter what and justify yourself everytime you express your "negativity". It really comes from the heart yearning for the real Mariah Carey, for which I also wish to come back. Given the pessimistic stands and harsh comments on everything Mariah did, of course there were doubts that you were not a "lamb", and "silence/get out" requests. To be honest, sometimes I was irritated by your negative posts which could sound like insulting her image and underestimating her effort. But here you definitely represent the "bad cop" saying that in your discourse, for MC's sake, you are not afraid of gaining a bad reputation for throwing ruthless opinions and being true to yourself. But guess what? We are here because of our love for Mariah Carey (for haters I don't know why) and your existence proves that you care for her (although not so much for the fans who always want the positive side). After all the falls and disappointments you're still here. We all have our responses, except you get to choose the path which allows you to be critical. One problem may be being too critical that some fans here can't stand. To everyone, please don't silence different opinions. Disagreements are what make us better and better. Endless arguments keep this board alive and interesting. If annoyed, respond nicely or just leave it. No one can force you to hate unless you want to.

Queen of Christmas (48,492) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I find it an enormous compliment. There are many holiday albums out there, but Mariah's position is secure, popping up on charts. Her song AIWFCIY is really a Christmas icon, playing everywhere (I mean globally) and people know the lyrics so well. I think that's why her performance has become a scandal when she "failed" on her epic signature song. BTW, isn't it funny that when people are claiming her career is over and she is ill, an extra Christmas show is added due to huge ticket demand? Nice move. All I want for Christmas is Mariah singing her best to all of us.

Sorry to bring up W. Afanasieff (48,289) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I think his reply is peculiar. First of all, how can you help with her being late or the weather (I think it's Mariah's apology for)? Probably something else but not so kind to her. Second, the "letstalk" part. I thought they were not musical partners, not friends either. When was the last time they worked together? Lead The Way? I hope he is not fueling the media bullies (except The Talk girls, love them). I feel like "I don't know him".

Mariah on NBC (48,201) by Gloria from Hong Kong
It's funny that people actually believe what the internet said. I couldn't stop but laugh at the whole overheard thing. Yes, Mariah is famous for being late, and I feel sorry for those fans waiting outside for her, but there are many possible reasons to explain the incident, the divorce seems not one of them. We all see how she managed the tour, looking happy and giving her best. Come on, it isn't the first time she's going through a divorce. My point is, we can only interpret (in a sense, guess) what happened so please don't act like you know everything. Let's get back to the live performance. Honestly it was not her best, but I'm totally satisfied with a real live. She might lose some of the high notes, and worse, experience audio issues, it was full of joy though. I remember last year's live at the National Christmas Tree Lighting, it was a bigger no-no. Here's what. When she lips sync, people said she can't sing anymore. When she actually sings, people tease about her singing not as good as the early days. Can't people get positive with things and make them go easier? I love that Mariah always sings AIWFCIY live even her voice isn't in shape. Anyway, I appreciate her effort and "festivity". To those who claim that they are lambs, just enjoy the show.

No filter no cleavage (45,543) by Gloria from Hong Kong
Guess those selfies on twitter are responding to some nasty comments on her image/magazine shoots. Without PS she could still be beautiful. I just love how she reacts to the so-called media.

Australian radio interviews (45,062) by Gloria from Hong Kong
Did anyone listen to those two radio interviews? We got her humour, her lovely persona, her explanation on the new album, her sharing of dem babies' stories etc. No "arrogant" diva stunts or "unnatural" dresses (you won't see if she's wearing a fishtail or whatever while doing call-in interviews, good news). Mariah was sweet and joyful. Guess these are what people want from her, right? Plus the radio hosts were nice to her, definitely talking amiably. If this way is more convenient for a mother/chanteuse, then stick to it. I don't mind not seeing her glamorous outfits. At least she is out to promote the album. I feel like the Aussie lambs are more supportive and more willing to buy her music (according to the charts), rather than blaming Mariah on every issue like the feud on AI, the choice of artwork, her reaction to someone she has every reason to hate, the sales performance and more. In fact I don't see saying something mean making anything better except it implies that people refuse to listen to the music due to her image, which upsets me. I can't tell you what's the best for Mariah, but this is the time we lambs should support her; Otherwise I don't see the future. It took five years to complete the journey. It it didn't work, think might be ten years next time.

Re clueey23 (44,868) by Gloria from Hong Kong
Clueey23, I doubt that you can read my mind. I enjoy the music and I don't think her image or the lack of promotion lowers the quality of her music. But yes, the sales may be a bit disappointing. The new album definitely has the potential of being a commercial success (or better performance than the last album MOAIA). Anyway I take the negativity of some lambs as a series of demanding requests. We just can't make people do whatever we want, and it's impossible to move MC even we lambs are tirelessly bombarding her and her manager on FB and twitter. Sometimes I just can't stand the lambs' wrath. Peace.

Re: photoshop argument/ BI article (44,034) by Gloria from Hong Kong
Benjamin Fisher, I' ve read that article too (available link here), and take it as a joke. I appreciate that MC wants to give us her best, and who doesn't want to look good? Besides, it was shot last year, indeed, when her figure was totally perfect. I remember what she said in her acceptance speech when she won the Billboard's artist of the decade award: "Forget the image, forget the ensembles, forget the rumours, forget the short skirts, the big hair, whatever." Forget the arguments. Music is her (and our) saving grace. By the way, a columnist actually went to Germany to get a physical copy of MIAM because he wanted to listen to the new music as early as possible. *Boy you just looking thirsty* You may read it here. I was totally amused by that.

Updates on MDJ? (41,118) by Gloria from Hong Kong
After typing my last post, I just found that MDJ has just updated some news. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Like I just mourned for a lovely friend who comes alive all of a sudden. Anyway it's great news.

MDJ (41,117) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I first heard the shutdown of MDJ days ago and I am still upset now. Then I turned to the little "flashback" video comming with the You're Mine (Eternal) announcement, I saw the MDJ tag at 1:01. Wow. On an official promotional clip? I enjoyed everything provided on that generous site. Since I became a fan of Mariah, the site I had visited the site like everyday. Now I feel like "I lost a part of me". But I'm glad we lambs have MCA to which the webmaster devoted and I can't thank you enough. Truly.

Fav song per album (40,458) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I like this game very much! It encourages me to listen my favourite Mariah's songs all over again until I can actuall pick one. I've noticed that some of you choose After Tonight from Rainbow, it's a real shock to me as I thought this track was a downgraded version of My All.
Mariah Carey: There's Got To Be A Way, Someday
Emotions: Make It Happen
Music Box: Music Box, Without You
Merry Christmas: All I Want for Christmas Is You, O Holy Night
Daydream: Fantasy
Butterfly: The Roof, Butterfly (never get bored playing this album on my iPod)
#1's: I Still Believe
Rainbow: Against All Odds, Heartbreaker Remix
Glitter: Never Too Far, Reflections (Care Enough)

The lastest AIWFCIY live (40,110) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I re-watch the live performance and I don't think it was the worst one. Can someone seriously say that? More than two third of it was going ok (unacceptable to some demanding fans, I guess), the problem was the aridity of her voice that made her sounded husky and hoarse on higher notes. Maybe think of this way: she was enjoying the festive moment. She realised in the beginning that she didn't hit every high notes, yet when it came to the chorus, she really tried her hard to mend it. "What more can I do?" she sang. If you only look at her flaws and keep expressing your disappointment, you have my respect, but I also feel sorry for you.

New cover (39,579) by Gloria from Hong Kong
That should be the album cover "and I can't pretend that that doesn't mean a thing to me". Such a beautiful artwork. I expect great music but not stunning covers. This time the lady again shocks the world!

Album title (38,262) by Gloria from Hong Kong
So Mariah has hinted the album title in the tweet? She did the same thing with #Beautiful before its release. "The Art of Letting Go" sounds wired (?) to me, but what matters is the overall quality. I truly feel her sincerity and eagerness to the upcoming album.

GMA / Fourth of July (38,071) by Gloria from Hong Kong
I absolutely agree with you, Terna. WBT in GMA is my favourite part. Her interpretation left me speechless. I couldn't say it was flawless but for me I have already listed this as one of the most stunning performances in recent years. I am so proud of being a lamb. And Fourth of July? The only thing depresses me is that we have to wait a long time to see Mariah on stage again. Am I being too impatient? At least everyone knows she is currently busy with the new album.

AI performance (37,941) by Gloria from Hong Kong
How on earth the argument of lip syncing comes out? I laughed the minute I saw this kind of silly news. I've watched the clip many times and I'm 100% sure it was sung live. Listen carefully to her voice, sweet and powerful, her breathing between lines, look at her upper arm (showing the strength she had while singing) and her facial expression (not usually a good indicator I admit) etc. Singing live and lip syncing are two different pictures. I've also watched the other clip recorded by one of the audience. That version is different that you almost can tell when you hear the first line "I had a vision of love". She sang it three times because she wanted it to be her best. I truly trust her. Indeed she did a very great job. I can hardly wait for the GMA.
