Thank you for posting that clip, I love that intro so, so much.

Smh (48,220) by S from
I just think there's such a mean spirited bully-mentality in the media with all the "hear Mariah struggle through her song" articles. We all know that Mariah has talent and can/could sing, why don't they take their time to expose one of those young manufactured pop girls whose voices are autotuned like crazy? No, instead let's attack a veteran who has nothing left to prove because she has already earned her status and stardom since the past nearly 25 years. Ridiculous.

MTV Unplugged (48,089) by S from
I agree about what enwar00 said about the MTV unplugged, so great and the added intro of Emotions is just perfect. I wish I had been young during that era instead of now, so many great artists, songs, performances, you name it.

Let's face it, humidifiers can only do so much. I wish Mariah would go to a voice specialist or someone who can help her through this obvious problem because it's sad to see her struggling on stage like this and then the mocking comments around the internet. Just my thoughts.

Surgery (47,199) by S from
Well if there had to be a choice between her never singing again because of the current state of her voice or to get surgery on her vocal cords for her nodules, I guess the latter might as well be worth a try anyway. Adele had surgery on hers when she was a the peak of her album 21's popularity and it went succesfully as one can hear on subsequent recording like Skyfall.

Interesting (47,172) by S from
It says a lot when the user comments on TMZ are more defensive of Mariah than many of the ones here right now.

Broadway (47,058) by S from
I agree, it would be great if Mariah did Broadway. I'm definitely excited to see where they're going with the musical she's planning based on her Christmas album. Hopefully there will be news about at least next year. In recent interviews Mariah has hinted that there would soon be some interesting projects coming up, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

The Music Box album (46,934) by S from
Been listening to the Music Box album a lot lately because I haven't always given it the attention it deserves, with the exception of mostly the singles released from it and I must say now that I've really been missing out. It may be more mellow than the other albums but Im glad I gave it a chance. The powerful chorus and bridge of All I've Ever Wanted Is You is chills. Just to hold you once again is stuck in my head. Never Forget You gets right to me, especially the verses and those vocals are perfection. Everything Fades Away is haunting, celestial, melancholy but gorgeous plus perfect song to end the album. I've been thinking about you is such a feel-good early 90s r&b vibe and relatable lyrics. Now that I know one of the few uptempo's and love how fresh it is. Another thing I love is how timeless the album feels, it never sounds dated to me. It truly deserves its status as one of the best selling albums of all time.

Her again (46,748) by S from
Comes back after a few days and this has become the Ariana board apparantly. Wow. It's bad enough that she obviously "tried" to copy Mariah in the beginning and then since getting called out on it she's been acting like she was never a fan in first place by leaving her name out when discussing her influences. But now we have to hear about her here too? She's not even half the singer Mariah ever was and never will be. I'm sick of the comparisons already. Okay, I may have come across a bit edgy in my last message, the point is I agree with what the recent messages here had to say about her but I'm just so sick of seeing her name/face everywhere and that people seem to bring her up whenever discussing Mariah (which I think is ridiculous). I'm just basically wishing for less of her here.

Nick (46,638) by S from
Something that always irked me was how Nick Cannon always refered to Mariah as "my wife" or "Mariah Carey", never just Mariah. It's as if he couldn't get past the whole being starstruck and a fan and the way he talked about her always gave the impression he was showing off, like "hey see what a big star Im married to". But what Mariah wanted was a husband, not a fan nor someone who felt so intimidated by her success that he spent all his time working to prove himself, resulting in him never being home.

Award shows (46,623) by S from
Anyone else who misses seeing Mariah at award shows? You know, performing, getting nominated, heck even presenting. I know she did World Music Awards this year but its not the same. I watch VMAs, AMAs, Grammys and there's just something missing without her. I miss the way it was back in late 2005/early 2006 when she was everywhere and nominated for things. Her undeniable talent and accomplishments alone should be enough to make her welcome. I can't believe Beyonce got 6 Grammys for her I Am Sasha Fierce album but Mariah only got 3 for TEOM. Like, really? I dont get it. They dont appreciate her enough imo.

Moving trucks (46,584) by S from
About that article, I can't imagine that it's Mariah's stuff that's being moved out of the apartment. Must be Nick's stuff. Why would Mariah leave her beloved home? Makes no sense.

Thoughts (46,500) by S from
Now that Mariah didn't have much success with MIAMTEC I hope she finds a great management and works on something new for next year. After all she seems to have good luck when it comes to releasing a succesful album in the 5th year of a decade (Daydream in 1995, TEOM in 2005). I also hope she works on something special this Christmas to celebrate the 20th anniversay of Merry Christmas. With her marriage coming to an end, Jermaine Dupri quitting as her manager and her possibbly signing with a new label this could be an oppurtunity to start afresh, a new phase in her life and hopefully a happy one.

Music (45,240) by S from
I'd love for Mariah to make a jazz inspired album in the future, she's already proven that she's more than capable of writing/singing that type of music (duet with Tony Bennett, The Wind, Christmas Time Is In The Air Again). Her voice really suits it and it doesn't require constant belting, and I actually think it could be succesful as far as sales. A lot of artists do well on the album charts when they release these types of records because it's such a timeless genre.

Vocal arrangements (45,143) by S from
To this_is_qhm, I read your recent post and just want to say I've noticed and love that detail too that you mentioned; the layering of hooks that Mariah does in Heartbreaker etc. Her ability to create things like that as well as her background vocals is something I really admire. I also love the vocal arrangement in the song God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen from her first Christmas album, the fact that it's completely acapella and her voice only with multiple layers, singing and harmonizing, makes it even more impressive. Mariah must have a really good musical ear and be able to hear things others wouldn't notice because there's no other way to explain how she comes up with these brilliant ideas.

Tweets (44,981) by S from
Mariah just tweeted that she wasn't the one who chose the cover for YDKWTD. She also tweeted that she and the kids are watching Frozen for the 9000th time. Anyone else here who'd love to hear her sing Let It Go?

Thoughts (44,869) by S from
I was just thinking of the fact that people keep saying that once you're in your 40s you are done. Well to that I'll say look at someone like Idina Menzel, she's 43 and at the peak of her career, more famous than ever, with an Oscar winning worldwide top 10 hit song (Let It Go from Frozen), a commercially succesful Tony nominated Broadway musical with the highest charting cast album for a stage musical in 18 years, a sold out concert at Radio City Music Hall (probably the first out of many), an upcoming Christmas album that will probably be a hit too and her fan base ranges from tweens to seniors so she's got that going for her too. Mariah is of course way more famous and they are two very different artists and I'm not saying Idina was ever at Mariah's level but they are both known for their big voices, yet despite the fact that Idina's only a year younger than Mariah and has been singing for just as long she isn't having the same problems with her voice (yes I know Mariah has nodules but I don't think that's the only reason her voice isn't as good as it once was). And to sum it all up, I can't help but think that Mariah could have been having a similar type of success right now at this point in her career if she had been willing to make some changes and not be so stubborn, it's frustrating to see because I feel that with her talent she has so much more to offer than what we've seen from her lately, and she's being reduced to a joke or a has-been by so many people.
