How much is Mariah Carey really worth?
|
Mariah Carey has the big bucks around here! The 45-year-old singer has been in the music business for over 20 years and that's why it shouldn't come to any surprise when we tell you she is worth an estimated $520 million, according to The Richest. Carey exploded onto the music scene in 1990 with her self-titled debut album under her boss who would later become her ex husband Tommy Mottola. In 2001, she released Glitter and overall it was an epic failure. She was bought out of contract and seemed to fall off the face of the Earth for a bit until she came back with a bang. Her 2005 album, The Emancipation of Mimi, because the best selling album of that year.
Carey's net worth mostly comes from lucrative endorsement deals, the fact that she owns several restaurants, her music and her gig on American Idol helped too. The Afro-Latina reportedly secured a $18 million paycheck to be on the Fox show even though she has since dubbed it the "worst experience" of her life. From August 2014-2015, she reportedly made $96 million which we would love to have in our back pockets. One thing Mariah won't have to worry about is spending money on a house; she has moved in with her billionaire boyfriend James Packer. Most recently, Carey has been bringing home the bacon from her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Martian Carey's networth is almost exclusively derived from her songwriting, production and singing career. To claim it's from endorsement deals makes her sound like she's no better than JLo. This is why Latinos should refrain from claiming Mariah. This Latina article is an entire mess from start to finish with the most basic information just pulled from their butts. It's like the writer (if you can call them that) went out of their way to be as wrong as possible. This shit has Benny Medina written all over it, but you didn't hear it from me. I know this site has a rather large Spanish eyeball percentage and even though most of you never post, I'd like to know how common it is for the Latin/Spanish press to get Mariah so wrong. Hablo Español¿.

This is why Latinos should refrain from claiming Mariah? What the heck? I don't know what you're implying even with the JLo reference, but it seems all kind of offensive. like Latinos aren't as talented and their only way to achieve success ala JLo route. Anyways, I do agree the article is wrong on all levels and I doubt she made that much with so little output. But I'm sure she made a pretty penny with the Elusive tour, Beacon shows, Vegas gig, royalties, and GOW. But back to Medina, he did really try to brand M like JLo when he managed her. She was endorsing like crazy capitalizing off of the comeback. Thing with M endorsing things are they're usually one hit wonder, it doesn't stick. 2014 was horrific, 2015 building back momentum, and 2016 is going to be fabulous.
