Mariah Carey not engaged to Bryan Tanaka

Mariah Carey is not engaged to Bryan Tanaka, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We're told it's "not true".

"That was fast! A wedding for Mariah and Bryan," blares a headline from this week's Life & Style, which goes to claim the pair are "eagerly planning their wedding". A so-called "source" tells the tabloid, "Bryan and Mariah briefly talked about marriage on their romantic trip to Aspen in December," and then the backup dancer "showed Carey how serious he was by actually proposing a couple of weeks later".

The magazine's made-up or ill-informed insider further contends, "Mariah always thought she'd marry someone rich and famous, but she's finally realizing the most important thing is kindness. Bryan will move heaven and earth for her, and that's what she needs," concludes the publication's questionable tipster.

Let Gossip Cop set the record straight. A rep for Carey exclusively assures us the report is "not true". The singer is not engaged to Tanaka, and currently has no plans to get married. It's just yet another fake news story published by Life & Style.

Of course, we're not surprised by the tabloid's tall-tale. In December, Gossip Cop called out the outlet for falsely alleging Carey was learning a British accent to make her sound like a "princess". And shortly before that bogus story, we corrected the magazine for wrongly claiming Carey was being difficult on set while shooting a cameo for Will Ferrell's comedy, The House. Much like those untrue articles, this latest one is equally inaccurate.
