After mass shooting at Texas Church, Mariah spreads love

In the wake of a mass shooting at a church in the small South Texas community of Sutherland Springs on Sunday (November 5), celebrities took to social media to express their sadness, outrage and calls for tougher U.S. gun laws.

At least 26 people, ranging in age from 5 to 72 years old, were killed in the deadliest mass shooting in the state's history, The Associated Press reported.

President Donald Trump commented on Twitter from a trip abroad, writing, "May God be with the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI and law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan."

Among the celebrities responding to the tragedy was Lady Gaga, who wrote, "Prayers for San Antonio and all the families who are suffering the loss of loved ones. I'll pray also for gun control."

Country singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash, author Stephen King and actresses Mira Sorvino, Marich Carey and Patricia Arquette also used the platform to plea for peace and implore for gun control.
