LadBaby leads Mariah in race to U.K. Christmas No. 1

With the race to the U.K.'s Christmas No. 1 entering the final straight, LadBaby will be hard to beat. Ladbaby, featuring YouTuber Mark Hoyle, his wife Roxanne and their two kids, take a strong lead with "Don't Stop Me Eatin'", according to the Official Charts Company, with Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" the closest competition.

LadBaby have elite form. The novelty act took out the Christmas No. 1 in 2018 and 2019, with money raised from those singles benefiting food bank charity The Trussell Trust. A surprise cut of "Eatin'" dropped earlier this week featuring Irish pop veteran Ronan Keating, and should help Ladbaby get over the line for the third successive year.

With just 48 hours until the wrapping is lifted on the Christmas chart, Wham's "Last Christmas" is in third spot and Jess Glynne's cover of Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" is at No. 4, while the protest song by British punk outfit The Kunts featuring Sex Pistol Glen Matlock, climbs to No. 6 and is the second most-downloaded song of the week, the OCC reports.

Over in the albums chart race, Paul McCartney stays on track for his first solo chart topper in more than three decades with McCartney III, while Taylor Swift's Evermore is reportedly "close behind".

The Official U.K. Singles and Albums Charts will be published on Christmas Day, December 25.
