Mariah Carey stopped by Watch What Happens Live on Monday (November 19) to chat with host Andy Cohen about her upcoming Caution tour, her relationship with the late Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, her dream collaborations and even a special Glitter medley for her beloved fans after an unexpected album revival.
Adele recently praises MiMi, and Cohen asked her what were her thoughts on the Brit singer saying Carey "deserves to be in the Bible" for being so epic. "I think you two should do something together," the host suggested. Although Carey loves Adele, she has a different collaboration in mind. "I would love to make a collaboration with Cardi B happen. I also love Lil Kim - I was hoping the three of us could do something. But if nobody puts it together, it's not going to happen," she explained.
Embarking on her Caution tour in February, a fan called in to ask Carey if there was any chance she will be adding Glitter songs to the run, since the album has returned to the charts after 17 years. "Since the Lambily got Glitter to No. 1, they lifted this huge burden of having to feel like 'Oh, I can't do stuff from Glitter because nobody knows it or whatever'," she said.
"Redemption for Glitter!" Cohen emphasized. "Yeah, justice for Glitter. And I'm going to say, yes, we're going to put together perhaps a medley for the tour," the singer promised.
On another call, a fan asked the 48-year-old what about her favorite memory performing with Aretha Franklin, and to describe their relationship. "We saw each other many times and talked a lot but that Divas performance was the only time we performed together," the singer shared, adding that she felt very intimidated at the time and wanted to be by the backing singers.
"That's the Queen of Soul and that's what you do. She was just so real. She came to me and she was like 'They're playing games, Mariah and I'm not playing these games!' We never really rehearsed too, we just did in her trailer... but I don't want to tell the whole story because I'm working on my memoir," the singer said. "But she went so far beyond what I imagine she would be like. God bless her."
During the fun chat, Carey also called Britney Spears a "sweetheart" and shared a funny anecdote of the time she sat on Meryl Streep's seat at the Golden Globes by mistake.
