Mariah Carey celebrates Schitt's Creek's Emmy success

Mariah Carey has celebrated Schitt's Creek's Emmy success with a little shout out to Dan Levy. The show won big at the glamorous ceremony last night, seeing it pick up seven gongs at the virtual awards show. And it turns out the Always Be My Baby hitmaker is a huge fan as she applauded the cast on Twitter.

"Congrats Dan J. Levy," she wrote as he won outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series. "You'll always be my David Rose." The actor was quick to comment, where he told Mariah just how much he loves her, while his sister Sarah simply replied: "Dead."

The 37-year-old used his acceptance speech to urge people to vote in the upcoming US presidential elections. "Oh, boy. Our show at its core is about the transformational effects of love and acceptance. We need it now more than ever before. If you have not registered to vote, please do so, and then go out and vote," he stressed. "That's the only way we need love and acceptance out there. Dad, do the rest of the fun stuff, sorry for making this political."

His father Eugene who stars as Johnny Rose, added: "I also want to thank once again this young man, who took our fish out of water story about the Rose family and transformed it into a celebration of inclusivity, a castigation of homophobia, and a declaration of the power of love. Thank you, Daniel. Thank you, academy, thank you."

The show came to an end this year following its sixth and final season - however, Dan has since teased there could be a movie on its way following their Emmy success. "Oh my gosh, here's the thing. Some people have been asking about a movie... if there is an idea that pops into my head and worthy of these wonderful people, it has to be really freaking good at this point," he told People Magazine.

"This is a really nice way of saying goodbye. Fingers crossed that we get a really good idea coming into are heads soon. I would love to work with these beautiful people again. This has been the most incredible experience."
