Mariah Carey joyfully unwraps plaque

Mariah Carey famously released her very first holiday album Merry Christmas in 1994, featuring the infectious hit single All I Want For Christmas Is You. And the songbird, 50, was recently surprised with a plaque from her record label recognizing the album and single's worldwide "multi-platinum" success.

"I am freaking out! This is amazing. I have not seen this until this moment, ok?" exclaimed Carey, who was presented the honor by her nine-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. Mariah, who shared a video of the plaque's unveiling with her 9.8million Instagram followers, unwrapped it on camera as her twins watched joyously.

It featured the album's original cover art, which showed Carey rocking a Santa Claus inspired mini dress made of red velvet and fluffy white trim. "Merry Christmas and All I Want For Christmas Is You - multi-platinum worldwide album and single," was written in the center of the plaque in bold, red lettering.

Mariah's honor also noted the number of times the album and it's hit single went platinum around the world over the past 26 years. A long line of national flags were displayed on the bottom of the plaque, with the album's data printed above the flag and the single's data printed below it.

"Let's start here," said Carey excitedly in the video as she pointed to the song and album's stats in the United States. All I Want For Christmas Is You, which is currently topping the Billboard Global 200 chart, has gone platinum eight times in the USA. Merry Christmas has achieved the same.

In the fun-filled clip, Mariah had on a bright red sweatsuit and a pair of furry red boots. The Queen of Christmas had her hair styled in voluminous curls and she accentuated her already feminine features with a bit of neutral toned makeup. Carey's charismatic twins donned matching ensembles that consisted of black puffer jackets and a pairs of red tartan trousers.

Moroccan and Monroe, whom Mariah shares them with ex Nick Cannon, 40, were clearly proud of their mother's monumental achievements. "I'm so so thankful to every fan in every country around the world for your never-ending love and support," began Mariah in her post's caption.

"Thank you Legacy Recordings for this incredible surprise commemorating the global success of Merry Christmas and All I Want For Christmas Is You."

On Monday, Billboard announced that All I Want For Christmas Is You had earned the number one spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart for the second week in a row. The hit garnered 83.7 million streams and 21,000 units were "sold worldwide in the week ending December 17".

Mariah made sure to share the big news with her fans by posting a link to Billboard's article on her Instagram Story.
