Does Mariah Carey have an epic duet in her future? In an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood's Scott Evans, the superstar revealed she's game to collaborate with another powerhouse diva - Beyonce! "I would love to work with her anytime, she's amazing," Mariah said of the "Formation" singer.
While they don't have any concrete plans to team up just yet, Mariah explained that she and Queen Bey have "known each other for a while" and have a good rapport. "It'll happen, when and if it happens, whenever," she said of a potential music project. "And if not, I'll always admire her and look at her as a friend." Adding, "We have a lot of fun, she's fun. She's a great girl. I love her so much, I really do."
Mariah also touched upon another important friendship, recalling her and Whitney Houston's iconic moment from the 1999 Oscars when they performed their hit single - and Best Original Song winner - "When You Believe". "I remember every detail of that night and she was amazing," Mariah said of the late legend. "And she brought the house down and she was fantastic and we had our fun."
Mariah has previously paid tribute to Whitney on social media, most recently in October with a sweet throwback photo from the set of the pair's "When You Believe" video. She told Scott that her fond memories still hold strong. "We had good times together," Mariah said. "She was a fun girl, woman. And you know, we miss her, we miss her."
She may have more than two decades of time in the spotlight to look back upon, but the busy mom of two isn't slowing down. In addition to planning her upcoming wedding to Australian billionaire James Packer, Mariah will head back to Las Vegas in June for her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Next, she's set to embark upon her first European tour in 13 years - a whirlwind experience she told Scott she's looking forward to. "There's a lot of nights, there's a lot of cities, there's a lot of people and I'm just looking for a lot of joy," Mariah said of hitting the road again.
"I definitely do," she replied, when asked if she can "feel the love" from the audience at her shows - some of whom she said take the journey right along with her. "There's a lot of fans that I've seen all over the world. They're telling me they've been to 10 shows, 20 shows, you know. And that's a big compliment," she said. Adding, "I just want to connect with my fans."
Mariah said that while performing on the Las Vegas stage and across the globe has its perks, what she treasures most about making music is, well, making music. "There's something about doing both of those things," she told Scott, "But my favorite thing is being in the studio and recording and writing music."
As for when fans can expect new songs, the superstar said she wants to take her time perfecting an album. However, she teased, "You're going to be seeing at least another single soon." Mariah's "Sweet Sweet Fantasy" international tour kicks off on March 15, and her "#1 to Infinity" Las Vegas residency resumes in June at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
