Butterfly (102,086)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

Yes, should have been a number one. It was played a lot at MTV and even on the radio it was "received very well". I still have it on cassette from 97 "my rnb mixtape" self recorded from radio. The older I get the more I value Butterfly and its lyrics. It's really a masterpiece, epic song.

"Butterfly" is one of the best ballads she ever wrote. I wish Sony had commercially released it. I think it could have gone to #1 easily on the strength of the ballad version as well as "Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise)".

This song is still so brilliant. By the first listen in 97 I loved this song. I think it's beside "Hero" Mariah's hymn. An emotional ballad, poetic lyrics and a beautiful, classy video. We all know that Mariah described her new free life with it and the tough relationship with Tommy. But for me the song can also be about friendship, changes, dreams and life in general. Today the people won't get a song like this again. In 97 the music and the artists from many genres were really awesome. Music will always be a mirror of the times. I miss those days.

Primary custody (102,063)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

That's true. But I'm sure if they didn't want to, they are not forced like other "poor" kids. If I had a famous mum I would have tried to be on stage, at least one time just for fun.

Yes, but it's understandable for Mariah to take this step. I don't know about the US law but here Mariah would easily get the primary custody. I mean with six different mothers, we call that antisocial here. Sorry, but it's the truth. And maybe Nick won't stop and there will be a another woman with a child from him. Definitely not a normal situation for children. So I hope Mariah is getting the custody.

Camouflage (102,042)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

I always had a bad feeling about Nick. When the press started to show the pics of the "so in love" couple on the beach (just after E=MC2 release), I thought if Mariah is happy with that man, everything is fine. But that bad feeling stayed. He was not known here and still isn't very known in Germany. But anyway, what it turned out is a real nightmare. Eminem may be a clown, but Mr. Cannon is worse. I wish they would have never met. But at least Mariah has sweet kids. I hope Bryan (also young), is a true soul. He seems very kind with a good heart.

I totally agree. I listened to this when I was a teen, then listened to it know [sic] as an adult hits differently. There is truly more to Mariah than what we see. I'm not a psychiateist [sic] or what but maybe her current behaviour is her defense mechanism to protect whatever personal to her.

Female singers:
1. Aretha Franklin 2. Mariah Carey 3. Whitney Houston 4. Ella Fitzgerald 5. Etta James 6. Donna Summer 7. Billie Holiday 8. Celine Dion 9. Brenda Lee 10. Janis Joplin (I know her music may not be for everyone's ears, but she really could sing the blues)
10 Male singers:
1. Stevie Wonder 2. Otis Redding 3. Marvin Gaye 4. Michael Jackson 5. Prince 6. Bill Withers 7. Sam Cooke 8. Teddy Pendergrass 9. George Michael 10. Lionel Richie

Celine Dion should actually replace that number 8 Beyonce occupies, It's kinda [laughable] how they always try to have Beyonce sit among the greats and she just does not belong. Notable singers were missing, like was Dionne Warwick even there on the list?

Here the same. Donna Summer at #122, that's ridiculous and so wrong. She belongs to the top ten.
Yes at least the top 5 is filled with the best of the best. Sam Cooke is a great choice. But Elvis should be higher than Beyoncé. The same with Prince.

Wow, congrats to the one and only MC. She really has broken every record one can break. On a side note: I was looking at the new Instagram pics, Mariah with Bryan and the kids. And I thought that look is so "Daydream Mariah". I love it. It's classy and beautiful. It really looks like 96. She has the sweetest smile, she really seems to enjoy the holidays. Something that makes me happy to see. All I want as a lifetime fan is a happy, healthy Mariah.

Miss you most at Christmas time (101,943)

AIWFCIY is everywhere right now. And I still love it. But "Miss you most at Christmas time" is just as wonderful. Just the opposite moodwise. I love this song so much and it belongs to Christmas too. Pure Mariah, pure magic. "Every other season comes a long and I'm all right, but then I miss you most at Christmas time" so true. The video is pretty too. Just beautiful Mariah, nothing more.

Whoopi Goldberg mocks Mariah (101,900)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

Yes, that title suits her better. Don''t get me wrong, I love "AIWFIY" and her Christmas songs. But what really made her outstanding are songs like "Vision of love", "Everything fades away", "Without you", of course the whole Emotions, Daydream and Butterfly album. Plus debut and Music Box. The voice on the first ten years, the lyrics, the emotion makes her the "Queen of Music" forever. There will never be someone like Mariah.

Yes. I had to stop watching the clip. Too painful to watch. It looks like Mariah wants to sing and "deliver" but she just can't. And she knows it. Whatever the reasons are, it's so sad. She really seems struggling. Someone should take care of her as a human being not just manage the star.

Yes, the 90ies were too good to be true. But they were. Luckily the memories will stay forever. 80ies and 90ies, that feeling that was going on, maybe youngsters will never understand. Every "outdated" movie and music from that time is a thousand times better than most of the trash today. It was original, with heart and soul and really fun to have witnessed it.

"Thank God I saw her in 1996 on the Daydream tour when she was actually a competent and capable singer." That time was simlpy magic on stage. Almost unreal. There's a reason 95 and 96 was Mariah mania around the world. I remember she had one concert in Germany, it was immediately sold out. If I had a time machine, I would choose that date to be part of the audience. You are really lucky to have witnessed her live during her Daydream tour.

Who'd have thought MC would lip sync. Colour me stunned. You're looking at $150-200 for one ticket to the Christmas concert. Plus travel and hotel if you're not based in New York. If you want to pay that much to watch her lip sync, get her hair and make up fixed on stage, bemoan the lighting, stick a finger in her ear, ramble on about her ensemble, drink champagne, and bark out an off key "EH" every so often, that's your prerogative.
Thank God I saw her in 1996 on the Daydream tour when she was actually a competent and capable singer.

Absolutely. The song is outstanding. It sticks out from "Chatmbracelet". For me a surprising but still classic Mariah song at it's best. I always say I need a Mariah jazz album (still do) but I would also take a "80ies style rock album". Mariah's look and tribute to "The Rose" were wonderful. She looks so pretty with Boho-style.

Appreciation for "Bring on the Heartache" [sic] (101,611)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada

This cover (Bring on the Heartache [sic]) needs way more love then it ever gets. The interpretation of this song, the video, the cloths, style and head scarf, the build up, the full belts, the whistle note, the electric guitar. This is what Rock-Riah looks and sounds like. I feel like it gets lost in the mix (no pun intended, Mix-ish) for some reason. What if this was the lead single from Charmbracelet instead of TTR?. This song makes a statement, and gives me all the tingles and feels. I’d love if Mariah did an ‘80’s style rock album like this. Give us raspy, give us pain, give us Boho fashion and the big hair dahling.

Mariah is seeking a lead actress to play her in a series inspired by her memoir "The Meaning of Mariah Carey". According to her, she doesn't care if the actress can sing, she just wants a talented actress. Do you guys have any suggestions?
PS: I would also like to point out that the doppelganger who played her in the Lifetime movie (Mariah: The Diva, the Demons, the Drama) really looked like her and could be a body double or something lol. You can find her on Instagram by the alias @Mariahlookalike and her name is Jessica Castro.
