About Stacey from USA:
Been a fan since 1993. Favorite albums include Daydream, TEOM, and Music Box. I love a good discussion, but won't stand for hateful comments because we disagree. I am too old to deal with drama and so are you. Keep it real with me and we'll have some fun. Peace.

First, I wasn't responding to you. Second, yes I did compare a speech to a performance. But you conveniently left out the fact I also included the Billboard Icon Award she received a year earlier, which if I'm not mistaken MC gave a speech as well.
Who cares if I criticize Mariah? Who cares if I praise her? Who cares what I say? Sheesh, lol. It's just an opinion.
Carey on.

I started online chat with the old MC pink boards during the Charmbracelet era. That's when I started collecting Mariah's CDs and discovered this website. I'm hitting 45 in the Fall. I'm definitely a GOAT.
Look, there are all kinds of fans here, all with different backgrounds, etc. The thing to remember is we all love Mariah's music. Just chill out if someone writes an opinion you disagree with. Your life will be much happier, I promise.

Yes I can. My kids love me and my trademark. I am a goat after all in their eyes. My husband would agree too. Haha. Nice try.
Look, there is a big difference between her BET moment, the Billboard speech, and the SHOF speech. I'm not saying she has to be a robot. We got enough of that during the Tommy years. But seriously to focus on lighting during a moment she's fought for decades to get recognition for baffles my mind. Moments like the BET performance remind everyone she truly is the goat. Leave the sunglasses at home.
Sincerely, Lady Goat Stacey

I hope people can see the difference between last night/Billboard speech and the SHOF speech. I agree it was short, but most importantly she looked and sounded great. Those whistles were on fire. Get rid of the gimmicks and own the moment.

Agreed. That's what got me into collecting for a time and ultimately led me to your site. Those remixes are some of my favorite songs, more so than the original album version.

Exactly Bill. I'm proud to be a goat, old school fan. Bring on the names, the negative names I just "shake it off", lol. The Billboard Icon speech was brilliant. She focused on her music, how writing songs saved her and you could really see how humbled she was to think her music saved so many others. I wished her SHOF speech expanded on the Billboard speech. Such a well deserved honor, a special night, and she's more concerned about lighting?

Re: Expectations vs reality (100,523) (100,527)
by Stacey from USA

I'm not struggling, lol. I came to terms with my expectations of Mariah vs my own beliefs a long, long time ago. With that being said, I am allowed to express those opinions just like everyone else here. I expressed an opinion, shared some personal insight on a topic and some have a problem with that. Some even mocked those struggles. That is what truly is sad. I'll always wish MC the best and appreciate her for her musical genius. "They can say anything they want to say, try to bring me down, there's a light in me that shines brightly, they can try, but they can't take that away from me." Carey on and chill out. It ain't that deep. Peace.
Happy Father's Day to all the amazing guys out there, including Nick. He's a good dad and co-parents well the twins with MC.

I've had nights where I was so glad the sun came up. I've lived through mental illness personally. With my daughter I saw the signs and got her help. What's Mariah's excuse? There is none, especially with the resources she has at her disposal.
I'm not bashing her, crucifying MC for expressing the opinion that she bears responsibility. Geez. And seriously? Blame her for doing it to herself after her hypothetical death? I'll just say this: who shoved drugs down Whitney's throat? At some point you run out of excuses and need to pick up the mirror. Tragically some never do, and it's heartbreaking. All lives are precious to me.
P.S. I've been pretty fair to Mariah over the years so back it up a bit. Ok? Peace.

Agreed. My now 13 year old daughter started exhibiting anxiety behaviors a year ago. She scratched up her legs. I knew given my family history that she needed help. She's been on a medication for six months and her scars are healing. I got her help. Why can't Mariah do the same?
Some of you need to be real careful who you call heartless or a troll simply because you don't like what we are saying. Mariah is an adult. She should know better than to mix meds with alcohol, especially mental illness meds. Stop making excuses. At some point you will run out of excuses. The only thing left will be the mirror you look at.

My dad suffered from bipolar, anxiety and depression his whole life. Trust me when I say I've seen it up close too many times. I myself struggle with anxiety, having severe post pardum depression after each of my three kids. I know mental illness. If anything it makes me sad when I see someone struggle.

Yeah, it was messy. Her speech at the Billboard awards, Icon Award, was perfect. I wish she could have channeled that same thought process, saying things like writing songs helped me survive my struggles and helped many of you survive yours, etc.

She's been in control of her image since Butterfly. Exactly. I think Mariah is in a talent league of her own. Master-class proved that one, as if I needed more proof. But MC has always been insecure. I think the "diva, dahling" act is just that: a cover. I'd love to see how she is behind closed doors. I doubt it's anything like what we see in pubic.

I was a little nervous once I heard MC was reworking songs from Butterfly. Ok let's face it, I was terrified, lol. This is Butterfly after all. How do you come close to replicating that masterpiece? I was pleasantly surprised. I love the different vocals. Brandy and Mariah pair well together.
