Re: Best "Vision of Love" live performance (82,535) (82,548) by enwar00 from usa
For me it's the BET Blueprint performance. Sure, Mariah could sing like the monster she was very early in her career. To me though, it seemed like life's experiences and years of wear and tear gave her a more soulful edge down the road. With The Emancipation of Mimi I think she knew she had something special on her hands, a sort of vindication if you will, and that brought a different sort of confidence out of her. I truly believe she felt emancipated and very herself during this era. For me all of those variables aligned during that performance and it's just so enjoyable to watch. She took her time playing around with her debut single and it was thrilling to see.

Re: janet. turns 25 (82,463) (82,465) by enwar00 from usa
Yes yes yes. I love talking late 90s albums with you. Such a great album with so much variety and yet I like every song on it. That's The Way Love Goes is still one of my all time favorite songs. The interludes were super short and it was the first time I'd seen that so it seemed creative. I actually think it influenced even more artists, and as I read your post I instantly thought Stripped by Christina, another brilliant and eclectic masterpiece. I love both of those album tracks you mentioned, so mellow and gorgeous. This album and its singles were massive in the Emancipation of Mimi type of way, where at least 10 songs made their way as singles and on the radio and had amazing and creative videos on heavy rotation. WAYN was played on the radio here for a long time and so was Throb, my favorite of the uptempos. I loved her SNL performances of it, have you seen it? She also did Anytime, Anyplace. The tour was amazing as well, my first time seeing her. I just listened to the CD yesterday on its anniversary. Brought back memories of riding my bike and going to the pool and playing Sega Genesis all summer long. Crazy thing is I did almost the same thing the next summer, because the songs were still on the radio, even the B-sides. Have you heard And On And On? Ok I know what I'm doing today.

Re: Memoirs (82,381) (82,388) by enwar00 from usa
I love Memoirs as well. Underrated. I appreciate the cohesiveness of it and to me that makes it stand out amongst her discography. I love the chill vibe and mood of it. Now that's also reminding me of Butterfly, not that the albums sound alike, but that also has a late night vibe to me. I can understand how some people aren't into Memoirs. Although I think some aren't into it somewhat based on the amount of its commercial success. Not sure what's in my top 5. That's too hard for me. For some reason I can rank songs easier.

Accelerate (82,316) by enwar00 from usa
Interesting reading people's opinions here about Christina's new single. I'm obsessed with it. I've been listening to it and watching the video on my phone and on tv since she dropped it on Thursday. I was pleasantly surprised with it and with its overall direction. To me it's catchy and gets stuck in my head for hours. I actually like the colourful video and think it is artsy and sexy and think she's looking very youthful and pretty these days. It's so crazy how differently we can hear and see things through our own filters.

Just to be clear my post was a joke, I don't have any sources and was just playing around with what I think would be a cool idea. I suppose it could happen though.

Surprise release EP (82,255) by enwar00 from usa
My sources have informed me that The Butterfly Returns will drop as a surprise release within the next couple months before Vegas. It will only be an EP length, no 12 or 14 tracks this time. All killer no filler. Shh... don't tell anyone. Let's keep it to this board please.

Re: "Sprung" / "Secret Love" (82,204) (82,254) by enwar00 from usa
Hey Billy, hope you're doing well. I was just listening to When I Feel It last week during one of my semi-regular Mariah mania binges and loved it. I'd only heard these songs in passing years ago, but I can say that's my fave of the 3 and one I'll continue to go back to. I love this clip because of the festive pic that goes with the song. Song def fits in with the whole old school vibe that was out during the early to mid 00s, as heard in songs by Mimi, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, just to name a few. Oh how I miss those days. Sprung is ok. Secret Love I don't like. Reminds me of the Bonecrusher remix of The One, which I am also not a big fan of. Btw there's a possibility I'll finally make it to Greece this year and if so I'll let you know.

Thirsty next single (81,969) by enwar00 from usa
I actually love Thirsty, regardless of who it's about. I think Mariah is slick with her lyrics, and to me there's something hypnotic this song. Forget about Migrate and the played out jokes about how it should have been a single, Mariah should just put Thirsty out as a single right now. The lyrics seem more relevant than ever as each week we watch one thirsty ass mf'er after another come out. Clowns is right.

Am I the only one who is not a fan of this arrangement? It does nothing for me. With that said, at least she tried something different and is showcasing different notes and giving something extra.

Re: "Rainbow" era (81,534) (81,540) by enwar00 from usa
Are you talking about plastic Barbie Mariah? To me, after the sophisticated imagery and vibe of Butterfly, the Rainbow album cover was cheesy af.

Re: "Rainbow" era (81,526) (81,539) by enwar00 from usa
Not the only one. I love that song and think it was one of the first times hearing more comical and clever lyrics from Mariah. Perhaps that's a reason why some lambs don't like it. Off to listen to it now.

Sorry, some of us are a day behind in the world. But wait, did you just mention Mariah and the b-word in one sentence together? Oh, the horror. I can't dahling, I just can't.

Re: Sade (81,267) (81,271) by enwar00 from usa
I didn't get to hear it either. I was so bummed. It was already removed, I can't wait though. I love Sade and will always struggle with not forgoing one night of Lollapalooza to attend one of her three shows here a few years ago. I pray she will tour once again. When is your birthday, are you a fellow Pisces? Have we had this conversation before? Lol. The years on here have started to blur together.

I just saw an article on Billboard about it turning 20 and am listening to it now as we speak. To me it's a masterpiece. Came out during a window of my life that was heaven so there is that nostalgia factor attached as well. My favorite album of all time, above even Butterfly. Sorry Lambily.

Mara that's funny, I actually thought of Breathe Again when I heard Long As I Live. Unless you meant Deadwood, the flow of that I can hear Seven Whole Days in now that you mention that song.

Re: Toni Braxton - Long As I Live (80,918) (80,920) by enwar00 from usa
Yes I love her new song and have been replaying it since this past weekend or whenever it was released. Makes me feel like 90s R&B is really coming back, which I love and grew up on. I loved Deadwood too, the video as well. I like the track with Birdman as well. Definitely built me up for the album, and I'll probably see her on tour for the first time.
