Can we all get along? (75,902)
by 123 from USA
| |
|

I was hoping that after Andrew posted that we should change the dynamic of this board to what it should be that people would slow down on the fighting but it wasn't even 24 hours after Martyn's passing and the claws were out. It may be of no use but I'm just asking if we can stop the fighting and make this board what it should be. Can we all just get along, in memory of Martyn?

She does sing it in Vegas. Along with I Don't Want to Cry and Someday. Although when she introduces the song she kind of dismisses it. The singles released from her debut album were some of her greatest ballads. It's what made us fans along with All Alone in Love and Vanishing. I only went to her Vegas show to see her perform them one last time.

Thanks MusicfanJ. I meant to include you in my response to B regarding Long Ago. I love hearing other people's prospective of songs that don't get mentioned much.

B. I love your story about Long Ago. Kind of wish I was there at that time to experience with you. I loved the lyric, vocal arrangement and the harmonies. The way she sang, "I gave you my body and soul", and the harmonized "baby, I neeeeed, you nooooow". Her voice was so haunting on this song. Perfectly emoting a memory. Posting a dance remix to bring some newness to the nostalgia. Thanks for sharing.

Aw thanks B. I knew you'd my understand my kind of crazy regarding I Don't. It's a bop. When I heard the lyrics to the first verse and pre-chorus I was like finally a proper song in comparison to the previous oddities. Did you hear the dance remix I posted? It's "pip" as Mariah would say. The wind instrumentation reminds me of the dance remix to Can't Take That Away. I need a 7 minute version for the gym lol.

Hi Stacey. I love the Daydream album. It's my favorite album and imo it's her best album. It's what turned me from a big fan to considering her the best artist out there once I read the credits and noticed that she wrote and produced which inspired me to be a humble writer/singer/producer myself. I thought every artist did it until I researched other favorites. I was 15, freshman in high school. I got a CD player for my birthday that year and Daydream was the first CD I bought. With the little financial means that I had at the time I rotated Daydream, with Bone Thugs and Harmony's E1999 album and TLC's Crazy Sexy Cool. I would rush home from school to go to my room and play these cds in pure bliss. Funny how something so simple as music can bring you more joy than all the money in the world.

Merr, you hit it right on the head. The problem with Mariah's projects since E=MC2 is promotion and single selection. She's released four albums with solid material (E=MC2, Memoirs, MC2U, and MIAM) and there has been little promotion compared to the promo she did for Emancipation. Interviews, multiple great tv performances, seamless single and video roll outs. She was everywhere. She did the same thing with Charmbracelet but the reason it wasn't successful was the poor single choices and her singing predominantly in her whisper register. When you are famous for having one of the greatest voices in history, the public is always going to expect you to sing. If you resort yourself to singing mostly in a whisper register, people wont tune in. A stunt may grab people's attention but it won't keep it.

Request: prayers for Martyn (75,614)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
As the Bible says when there are two or three gathered in my name I am with them. Requesting that anybody who feels it in their heart to pray for Martyn tonight. If we all gather together and pray tonight I have faith Martyn will be ok. He is part of our family on this site and if we gather together here to discuss our love for MC, we can do the same for him. Dedicating Fly Like a Bird in honor of Martyn.

36, but as Puffy would say, "preserving the sexy" - lol. I liked the lyrics in I Don't. The first verse into the pre-chorus I thought was classic Mariah. "Somewhere in another life, we stole a moment in time, gave you everything that you needed, I was even down to repeat it. Said you would always be mine, feeding me nothing but lies." I was like ok Mariah you took more than 5 minutes to write this. Kind of reminded me of the lyrics to "Long Ago": "Once Upon a time you whispered softly in my ear, loving words of fairytales, I that I longed to hear." Another gem that doesn't get brought up enough.

Randy I like Right To Dream as well. The vocals are natural and its stripped down. The song I don't like that a lot of lambs do is Almost Home. The vocals sound altered I couldn't recognize her in the beginning. I never saw the hit potential, and I still think I Don't could have charted better with some actual promo.

Sounds legit. Can anyone confirm? Stella, can you be a lamb and play this for Mariah and reply under your alias? Please and thank you. Forget another greatest hits or compilation album, release the demos. I would drive to the store just to get a physical copy of a demos/unreleased songs album.

I Don't (MichaelAngelo Meets Morales Edit) (75,270)
by 123 from USA
| |
|

I love this remix. Sounds like David did it himself. I remember MichaelAngelo doing a great Shake It Off remix. The beat fits the original vocals perfectly. I Don't was the first decent song she's had in years, there was some thought behind the lyrics for once, a pre-chorus, and chorus. The only thing I didn't like was that the sound was more of the same and the two studio synthesized F5s in the final chorus weren't necessary. I'm over her throwing out songs/albums and not promoting them, especially when they are good but yet Infinity and that 1 to Infinity album got more promo and performances then her last three albums combined. Anyway I wish this remix was longer, still playing it at the gym anyway.

Re: New hit on the hands (71,113) (71,142)

He was only viewing her as a "legacy" artist back then, publicly stating that she should focus on just singing her hits instead of releasing new material so she did just that. With this new found "relevancy" she's obtained from the NYE performance, he sees his window of opportunity to capitalize on it. A lot of people on the board have been craving new music but forget that she's been recording for quite a while now. I agree with you that she shouldn't release anything unless it's good and she's ready to promote it. I'm wondering if it's the song she mentioned on WWHL. They asked her why she hadn't performed at the Superbowl and she said she didn't know and that she was working on a new song that she is in love with and that perhaps they should perform it then. Sony did push the heck out of Infinity and that one and Beyond CD or whatever it was called. It would be great to see them promote a really good song and new material. If she can't/wont promote it or if the song is not on par I would rather they wait.

Wendy Williams (71,098)

So a Lamb was in the audience and defended Mariah and called out Stella today. He said Mariah didn't have to prove herself since she is a legend and that certain actions don't seem her style and more like Stella's. Wendy agreed. Once the show gets posted tonight I'll come back and post it here if anyone wants to watch. I must order that sweater the lamb was wearing. I was pleasantly surprised to see this.

NYE performance (70,686)
by 123 from USA

She didn't need this gig Stella. What was she there for? She promoted the hell out of her Christmas music and should be on vacation until after the new year and then send her back to the studio. She had no new music to promote and a check shouldn't have been the only motivation. Not all money is good money. From some of the videos I've seen she couldn't hear enough to wing it, that's why she spoke over the pre-records. Here are some postings on this other fan site indicating the same thing. Good Morning America said she was "blind" out there without her earpiece here. Why does this ear piece malfunction keep happening and why is there not a plan b and c if the earpiece fails. Second or third back up plan. Looks like Mariah rehearsed some, but then she says they didn't rehearse the sound on Emotions. If you are not going to attend your sound checks and rehearsals don't go on stage. I would like her to give up the alcohol and go to rehab and record. Come back and hold a press conference of her singing a song with just Big Jim Wright and drop a hot single the same day.

MW is actually pretty tame. My only complaint is its not enough Mariah. No offense to her crew but I'm not interested unless it has to do with the music. I know manufactured drama is what will probably keep non-fans watching but I'm not here for it. Everyone seems to notice how much she drinks on the show. Have you noticed that after every performance she is tossing them back? I know not to buy tickets to a back to back show lol, She did sound the best she had in years on that tour so I'll give it to her for at least getting her vocal rest in.

Mariah Carey on performing at the Superbowl (70,489)
by 123 from USA

I wish she would have the guts to do a halftime show and actually make a real spectacle. Some live belting would be appreciated. I hope the song is a hot uptempo banger. I'd even take an uptempo pop record as hers are always addicting. If she had a single ready it would be smart for her to drop it at halftime, even if she was sharing the stage like Beyonce did with Cold Play. It would coincide with the end of her reality show as well. Even though they were having splashes Mariah sounded good backstage on WWHL. I loved how he asked all the questions no one's supposed to except for the tired JLo one. I love how she belted at the end and did it twice and told them to go with the second take lol. She's still a perfectionist.

That's the same picture I've seen circulate on the internet saying that Mariah's next #1 is going to feat Rihanna called "We Don't Know Her". I hear Rihanna stopped following JLo on social media after that Drake and JLo pic came out lol. I was hoping Mariah would collaborate with Drake but now all hopes are dashed. Damn that JLo lol. Ever since she stole Mariah's ideas Mariah has been two steps behind her. Now Mariah's dating a BG dancer and JLo's moved on to a top "o the day" male rapper. I mean, if you are going to start a fake relationship at least it be a hook up be one that were both parties are gaining something.

Preach Special K but the negativity here is just bait for others to fall for and provide an emotional response. And everyone (me included) keep falling for it and it's just taken over. Yes there is a lot wrong in "Mariah's World" but any flaw is magnified just to troll. At this point I would say follow my lead and like Mariah pretend it doesn't exist.

Subtle Invitation (70,348)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I've said it before that if Charmbracelet was sung in full voice, the album would be 10 times better. I love her singing the verses in Subtle Invitation live here in the Charmbracelet tour. If you keep watching the video it goes into her impromptu introduction of the band and vocalists, which reminded me when Trey was called "Big Nasty" when he was slim and trim. When they had his face blurred on the show I wondered out loud and someone told me, "Maybe he didn't want to be filmed because he was embarrased of his size and didn't want to be seen on TV that way." Not sure since he was filmed in her current videos but the struggle is real to keep your weight in check. Eating holiday chocolates as I type this.

Re: All The Hits North American tour (69,897) (69,920)

Why is everyone questioning this? Has anyone checked the venues for this tour? Mariah cannot fill anything bigger than a theater sized venue in the States these days. The last time she was at the United Center in Chicago was during the Mimi era. Lionel has a big following and has been filling these big venues on his own. He's doing Mariah the favor by adding her on as she would be reduced to theater sized venues here in the States if she went on tour. Its a smart move and hopefully will have her re-connect with older fans that spend money to see these legendary acts. I know people want an album but she needs to stay booked so she doesn't let her live voice go down the drain again. Compare VOL from the first Vegas date to one in September of this year. A huge improvement. Plus she can record while she is on tour. Didn't she do a lot of writing during the Charmbracelet tour?
