I wonder, does MC blame her mother for not staying married to her father? She has never written a song about her mother. Alfred Roy had one song written about him and an honorable mention in another song.

I can understand why they recorded the Christmas duet at the time they did. Mariah was pregnant and as a soon to be mom probably wanted to try and repair her own relationship with her mother. I’ve had friends do the exact same thing with expecting, only to have more fall outs and incidents down the road.

Yes. I am ready to record it on the syndicated U.S. radio show - Dede in the Morning - Dallas-Fort Worth Texas-104.5 FM (5am-10am). The original is already in heavy rotation during her morning show. Dede and her crew are really funny with their date fails and R&B hip hop news segments. Check her out.

I hope they have reconciled. I remember Patricia being so proud of her daughter in the outside porch mother and daughter segment during the Proctor Theater concert video. She will have only one mother and should cherish her while she's on this earth in spite of what she did or didn't do.

I will never understand the sudden disdain Mariah developed for her mother. Her mother was a significant presence in her life, and Mariah often praised her. It was her mother who encouraged her to say, "When I make it," instead of "If I make it." Referring to her mother as just "Pat" after all these years feels both strange and sad to me. While Patricia may not have been perfect, she certainly doesn't seem like the monster Mariah portrays her to be.
I know she has never forgiven her for calling 911 during her highly publicized nervous breakdown. For some reason, she blames her mother for everything that followed. However, I believe Patricia may have saved her life, as Mariah was definitely acting very erratically at the time.

#Beautiful (106,417)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
During this week 11 years ago #Beautiful was the highest debut for on Hot 100 at #24 and then it stalled at #15. I had forgotten that it was a year later the MIAM was finally released. The infamous Wal-Mart leak really changed things in 2013. I am sure Def Jam was expecting #Beautiful to be song of summer. It sure had potential when it was released, but it just didn't have that "umph" it needed to rise higher on the chart. Maybe a summer TV series like ABC's Mistresses tie in would have given #Beautiful that high profile exposure it needed to be a bonafide hit summer song.

Mariah's voice (106,414)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
Remember way back 2016/2017 when we used to criticize every performance? I don't know but as I rewatched her performances, it sounds good to me compared to now. I know that she's not getting any younger anymore but whenever I see her Vegas clips, it's a bit sad to see her lipped almost 90% of the show and remember that she used to showcase her belts once in there few years ago but we didn't appreciate it as much that time. I think now is truly the end of an era where we will not be getting any "great belts" anymore, at least concert/performance-wise. I think she now accepts that her voice is fragile than ever that's why she's doing her best on the lipping with the rerecording of her vocals and better transition which I think is finally doing her good since the general public seems to buying it.

Same. This one has a video though apparently but of course it is a recording session video. Like the last two videos Fall in Love at Christmas and The Roof with Brandy. (Those are her last 2 videos right? Though the Brandy recording session video made sense.) At this point I don't know if it's budget issues or lack of will and creativity. I'm still excited to hear the song. Sounds like it should've been on Caution.

But Edward... Lol. I am just hoping that after MC delivers her verse and chorus, she gives us this amazing bridge and climax moment with some high and low notes. I am hoping there are some amazing runs and whistle notes at end of the remix. Am I wrong for hoping yet again?

Is MC's vocal technique still there? (106,407)
by Edward from USA
| |
|

Mastering vocal technique without possessing a captivating voice is akin to honing skills in a field where natural aptitude is lacking. Technique alone falls short, if it were the sole determinant, Mariah would undoubtedly be crafting vocal masterpieces consistently, yet reality paints a different picture.
While we have discussed her voice ad nauseam at this point, let's not venture into Delulu Land. The fluidity, clarity, and effortless delivery that once defined her seem to have been long gone.
In hindsight, Mariah's involvement in the "Yes, And" remix missed the mark. Neither did she enhance the track nor did her signature whistle did the trick or sounded pleasant. Even though I'm not one of those "they wronged poor MC" fans, this seems to have been a set up. Ariana wanted her to be the loudest voice in the track, well, she was, but it didn't mean it was the best voice.
"Made for Me" peaked at #20, but now it's sitting at #54 on the Billboard Hot 100. While it still retains an ascending bullet, I don't see how Mariah involvement would make it gain momentum.
Mariah would be better served focusing on original music rather than lending her talents to forgettable collaborations.
Sorry about it.

Muni Long remix (106,404)
by Bobby A from United States
| |

I think that Def Jam is looking to use all of the attention MFM is getting to launch her new album just like they did with Hrs. and Hrs. They are probably eyeing an August album release after MFM remerges on the Hot 100 in top 10 with MC's help. Now if they perform it on late night TV and the BET Awards then it will definitely make top 10 this summer. Only time will tell with what the remix will do for increasing Muni Long's popularity.

Keeping hope for the remix but I think it's once again a bad strategy. That song was most popular when it was a viral TikTok trend. It has since been replaced by "Espresso". Although Save Your Tears remix became huge even after happening a year later I doubt this will be the case for MC because Ariana and Weeknd are two of the biggest streaming artists so their combined fandom is what got the song to the top. Lol I was so hopeful of the Ariana collab that this time around I'm keeping my expectations low. I wish it was an original song, not a remix.

Is MC's vocal technique still there? (106,402)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I was listening to random tracks on four albums today. They were the Mariah Carey, Butterfly, TEOM, and Caution. I chose those four albums because you can tell MC's singing style and voice significantly changed on those four albums. After my listening sessions, I listened to the Made For Me remix snippet. I love her alto voice now. I have always favored altos over sopranos. MC's alto voice is just a sweet divine to my ears. I think she still has her vocal technique that she has always had. So my question to the board is this. Does MC still have her vocal technique? If she were to have a voices battle with Jessie J, would MC win the battle? Beyonce?

Muni Long remix (106,400)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Thank you Sheez. It hit #1 on the R&B Airplay chart on March 20th and peaked at #20 on the Hot 100 on March 5th. Currently, MFM is #8 on the Urban radio chart and #6 on the Urban A/C radio chart. MFM is still going strong on the charts right now. A remix with MC could make it easily a summer hit again on all charts especially the Hot 100. I got to thinking again that MC flew down to Atlanta last week and recorded the remix and we saw a video of her recording booth after she had just finished. This is not going to be a Yes, And remix fade away into oblivion type of situation.

Muni Long remix (106,399)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
I love your optimism and enthusiasm Robert Anthony. The remix is supposedly dropping next week (insider). I don't quite see the original on the Hot 100 as they only show top 20 positions. RA when did this song hit its peak? Is it falling right now? I don't want it to be another "Yes, And" situation with her hopping on to a dying song and it only going to the lambs.
Apparently it will be sent to radio next week, maybe Def Jam might just put some weight behind it.
I love her collaborating with these current female singers but I wish they were original collaborations and not remixes of old songs. Although the Weekend's "Save your tears" remix with Ariana came after nearly a year and that did so well.
I think Mariah is trying to warm the general public up with these collaborations before hitting us with MC16. The lead single I think will come atleast 2 months after this release now. I just hope she paces herself properly - Merry Christmas 30 is not too far away. We don't want another Caution situation.

I have been trying to search the web as to why Muni Long and JD just haven't dropped the remix or set a release date. I can't find anything on the web that would make them hold out for a specific reason. The only two things that I can conclude is that they know that MME is about get even bigger and they are giving Def Jam time to make a physical CD and vinyl to sell right after its release. Something remarkable is happening behind the scenes. This is it Lambs with MC's return to the Hot 100 in a big way. Are we ready for it?

We don't know him has his dominance too (106,396)
by Bobby A from United States

I realized that my debut chart number was wrong after I checked Wikipedia. It was one of those false bait ads that showed up on my phone as a "Newsbreak" ad and it got me good. They always have an embellish headline to make you click on the article. Another bait ad that got me was an ad that said that Princess Kate was out of the public eye because Prince William was having an affair. Well, we know that wasn't true. Anyway, JT is not as popular as was 10 years ago.

Made for me (106,385)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

Y'all know already that I over think things way too much. I just can't help it. Listening to snippet that JD shared got me thinking that he was eluding to that MC wrote new lyrics for the second verse. The first verse is the best verse of MFM. A new second verse from MC would take MFM to a different level for a remix. And what if the Soul Train Awards show gospel choir is apart of the remix too? Oh, it is going to be sweet to hear MC on the radio again since we last heard her on BBE. Just my two cents before it drops.

Article: Mariah Carey recalls feeling the need to "disappear" (106,368)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I feel like she wrote it during the Stella era after the New Year's Eve fiasco. After that situation of being exposed and her vocal talent/ability being questioned I would have wanted to disappear as well. Most people don't know she writes but everyone knows she's famous because of her insane vocal ability. Once her use of pre records got exposed, most people figured it was over for her. I love that we are finally getting more details behind the writing of these songs. It's good to start with Portrait as it's from her most recent album. She's perceived of having everything anyone could ever want. Yet, with all her blessings, she is only human and has had her failures and dark periods in her life. Starting with this song will help humanize her and help spread the word that she is the pen behind the lyrics to all these great songs.

Met Gala (106,366)

I have never thought of MC as a Met Gala type of woman. It would be cool if she did attend more events like the Met Gala. I have always been curious about how Robert Dinero and MC became such good friends during the promotion of her movie Tennessee. Maybe her acting period in the late 2000s help her connect more with actors. When was her last major acting gig? The Butler?

Met Gala (106,363)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
You are correct, not only did she never attend the Met Gala, she also never featured on the cover of Vogue. The latter surprises me more because even though Mariah hasn't consistently been a fashion trendsetter, she has been iconic in more ways than one and I've seen people with less accolades be on the cover multiple times. I would have imagined she would have been on the cover either during her 90s peak or her TEOM/Einstein era. As for the Met Gala, how attendance works is it's $75k per person ticket or you can book a whole table for $350k plus Anna needs to approve the guest. Mariah is usually smart with her money so maybe she never wanted to shell out so much? Also what frequently happens is the designer buys the whole table and picks celebs to go with them, so I'm surprised Donatella and D&G never took her since they're such good friends. Alaia and Karl too. Lastly I think Mariah might feel like the Met is too much pressure for her. She does often feel insecure of being photographed in an angle she can't control and the Met is the biggest red carpet of them all so she might not feel up to the pressure that comes with walking that carpet. She isn't the only A lister never to attend though - Britney, Brad, Angelina, Meryl Streep, Ryan Gosling, Jen Aniston etc also never attended. I always wanted to see her on the Met carpet really taking chances but honestly I've come to terms with her not attending especially with now it just including random people like instagrammers and TikTokers. I still hope to see her on Vogue and other major magazines like Forbes and Time.

Bring back the DJ Clue remixes (106,358)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I am sitting here adding the Heartbreaker remix to my workout playlist. One of her best non JD remixes that she has ever released. R&B radio played the remix more than the original. MC should take one of Drake's songs and sample it. It would really get a lot urban radio programmer's attention for sure. By the way, are you following the Drake and Kendrick Lamar rap battle going on right now? We got tracks #8 and #9 from Kendrick Lamar and Drake yesterday. It is very comical these two grown men are playing the dozens by releasing diss tracks everyday. I think this is all a publicity stunt to announce a truce between two with a collaboration album.

Growing trend of R&B artists (106,355)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
There seems to be a growing trend among R&B artists who are not releasing albums anymore after a decade of hit albums. MC has joined Rihanna, Trey Songz, SWV, En Vogue, Tamar Braxton, Keyshia Cole, Donnell Jones Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Jennifer Hudson, and Joe in this club. There are many reasons why they are not releasing albums anymore. It makes me wonder if R&B airplay will continue to remain only on the Urban AC charts for many years to come. Rising neo-soul artists like Sir, Lucky Daye and Mahalia will never have major success on the pop charts like those artists who paved the way for them 20 years.

CD physical releases are not selling anymore (106,348)
by Bobby A from United States

I went to my least favorite Target store yesterday after work to buy Dua Lipa's Radical Optinism. And of course, they couldn't find 1 of the 4 copies it said they had on their website. So while I waited for the team member to look in the back, the Swifty display was packed full on a main aisle endcap. I thought to myself that consumers just don't buy CDs anymore. I noticed last summer that Target cut back on their CD selection. They have even stopped their Target exclusive compilation CDs like the iHeart Radio Ball one from 2013. I wouldn't be surprised if they stop selling CDs like Best Buy. However, vinyl is still hot as ever at the small independent record shops. I have a couple in Austin that I buy from that are staying opened because of vinyl.
