Does anyone think they will discount the song to increase its chart potential? What other big promo events does she have lined up?

Mariah Carey and R. Kelly (69,738)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Here is a the full video just for you Licia. The vocals were reserved, but all live. Very nice performance. I have been waiting for them to have a "real" collaboration. I always felt musically he was the male version of Mariah in regards to being a singer, songwriter, producer multi genre artist. I love all the love R. Kelly gave her at the end. I need a song with killer lyrics from the both of them. Work on the song until its magic. As Mariah would say, "Just a hopeless dream."

Hello Myles. Prior to Mariah's Vegas shows I would say you are 100% accurate. Her "live" voice were shot to hell. Since her Vegas shows she has actually started to care again and has started to belt again. Granted, she is only belting in her mid to lower upper mid range (Bb4-E5) and lips any belt above an E5 or even a lower belt she can clearly hit but avoids because its a vital point of the song live in Hero. She has slowly stripped away a few usual lipped parts on certain songs which is rare. Every once and a while she will go for an F5 but usually avoids it to avoid sounding rough or flat. I hope she continues to improve. Watch the "diaryofMariahcarey" channel on YouTube. They only post live moments of each show and have been tracking her progress. Here are some videos of her recent live range on her September Vegas shows, her August shows and her impressive SSFT vocal range. Are they 90's vocals or near to where she used to be, especially with all the lipping? No. But it's a huge improvement. What's improved the most is her tone and fluidity in her voice. It can be smooth and silky now when rested live.

Re: Mariah should read her own press (69,211) (69,237)

She said in a recent interview that she doesn't read press about her and ignores it. I wonder if she knows how she is being presented to the press. She's presented as this messy, desperate, half clothed, hoochie momma gold digger instead of a musical genius who so happens to be over the top-extra. Sorry if I was too harsh.

Hi Charmed Girl, I couldn't find another clip so I am posting this video of the best live moments and they play a moment of that song. BTW, Charmbracelet has the best songwriting out of any album imo.

Liz, I'm totally on your side, but it was the nanny's passport. To me, this is the manager's job to make sure all passports are presented. Why wouldn't Stella have everyone's passports that are traveling with them? Don't you think this is the manager's job? If the assistant was competent, I would say delegate to her, but she was obviously only hired by Stella for comedic relief on the show. "Po thang." She cries at the drop of a hat. This is reali- I mean docuseries gold in Stella's eyes.

Cindi was her publicist though. Mariah goes through "managers" almost as fast as does bottles of splash. Mark my words, if the next album flops, Stella will be on the chopping block. If Benny Medina, who helped make her a ton of money in 2005-06, Randy Jackson, her longtime friend since 1901, and Jermainde Dupri, her musical brother all got the axe after a failed project, so will she. As per the episode, Mariah isn't much involved in her business ventures as she prefers someone else to "deal with it". She only notices when her accountant tells her she should slow down with the spending because the last "album" has put her in the negative. I'm so ready for the rest of the episodes, as this reali -I mean docuseries starts to reveal truths we never knew, lies that were told (how do you postpone a wedding in March when the both of you are still married?), and everything in between. I'm glad we got this docuseries as it helps eliminate a lot of our speculation.

She killed it again. I love these live belts in Here Comes Santa Clause. Her belts sounded so effortless and clear. Of course the intro was great in JTTW. The vocal performance we all wanted on VH1 Divas. I do enjoy the toy soldier outfit. Say what you want and we may not all be happy with the crazy ride she's taken us lately but she still has it vocally.

All I will say is there is no way Mariah would be dating either of them. It's just staged, fabricated tabloid fodder to promote the show and possibly get back at James if that relationship was even remotely real in itself.

Hi Liz. I noticed this as well. I came to the conclusion that Mariah really isn't that good of a business woman. She kind of goes with the flow and if the manager is incompetent, her projects suffer for it. I remember Brenda K. Starr's story on Wendy Williams during the Mimi era where Benny Medina dismissed her claiming he didn't know her and when she confronted Mariah about it instead of saying something like, "I'll make sure he is respectful to you" she was kind stayed in the middle so not to rock the boat with this new manager who was supposed to put her on top again. Other than Jermaine, I do believe most of the other managers were just collecting a check. I also believe that Mariah thought they would just take care of everything and all she had to do at this point of her career is present good music. She thinks Stella is competent because she has made Mariah money, but I do believe Jermaine would have done the same had she listened to him. It was his idea to do Vegas but she blew off the idea. In conclusion, Stella will only disappear when one her Mariah's projects fail. That's a patterned I've noticed from Mariah time and time again. So, I'm watching all this unfold in front of my screen and continuing to give Stella the side eye, I see you Stella.

Marissa, you have to watch the show in order to get the answer to your question. I get some lambs feel it's beneath them or her to watch the show, but it really does reveal a lot. You can't judge if you haven't watched. It's not a bad show and it had a lot of good moments. There are staged moments like the assistant but I would put this along with all of the specials she has had. I would love for you to watch and get your review only because I would like to hear your opinion on things other than the staged moments.

Mariah's World (69,105)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Couldn't wait to watch it. Glad I did. Those that haven't should as many people have been giving their two cents about what may be going on with Mariah's World right now. I did like it and Mariah came off very tame. Here are some observations: 1. Mariah is a great musician, but a not so great artist. If it has anything to do with music, whether creating new intros with Big Jim or doing musical edits with her engineer in the studio for the tour, she is all for it. When it came to the stage production, departure and arrival to each country, "I just want someone else to take care of it and make sure it's fine and just show up." I could never imagine Madonna not being involved in every aspect of her tour, especially the visual aspect. For someone like Mariah, who is all about appearance, this was a surprise. 2. Stella still has a lot to learn and is only concern is to "make Mariah money". Even thought it is true, she needs to make sure she is focused on all the little things that go into making someone money. The whole, nanny didn't have her passport so everyone was late to the rehearsal in Scotland should have never happened. As the manager, you should have made sure everyone had their passports. This is like travel 101. 3. Ty, you were right about Bryan and Anthony. They gave you hell on this board for what you said but I clocked all of it last night. Cant wait to watch the rest.

Mariah's World (68,828)
by 123 from USA

I'm here for it. I know people think this is going to send her career down in flames but she survived Rockefeller and turned out fine. I still don't see it for Stella and the hanger ons. I had enough when I saw the hanger ons, is it the sister and the daughter, right there with Mariah while she mingled with other artists at Future's birthday party, air kissing, but no one else had their entourage around? Just weird. Mariah will go with the flow as long as success and funds are coming in. If the next musical project fails, Stella is getting the heave ho. Anyway watch these clips of the show, I really liked them. Bring on Sunday.

With all this tabloid fodder she seems to want to indulge in for this reality - I mean, docuseries, she better bring the vocals for these next performances so I have something substantial to focus on and enjoy. I really enjoyed this comparison of 1996 and 2016 Fantasy vocals.

It really is that simple. When was the last time Mariah released an undeniable single that got a big mega push with all the bells and whistles? Performances, interviews, radio deals to play your single, and a video that actually arrives on time (preferably same day as the single at this point or the following week to drum up more downloads). Instead we get JLo, I'm sorry, even worse, Kardashian like publicity that is beneath her. She is not being marketed as the talent she is. The focus is on superficial imagery and tabloid fodder. If Stella doesn't produce a hit on Mariah's next single, the heave ho. We should do a new list of possible managerial replacements to pass the time lol. To me, Mariah has always been more marketable when she is single. No one has ever bought a Mariah record because of who she is with.

Hello Travon. I apologize as well. I did go in on you and I shouldn't have done that. I'm glad you are back and hope that you stay. We had a Lamb get together in the City recently and we had a blast. I would like to extend an invitation to you for our next gathering, we are for sure getting together for Mariah's World. God bless you.

Empire (67,094)
by 123 from USA

Even though she was on very briefly, I liked her parts. I thought her acting had improved greatly and she came off very natural and convincing as Kitty. I've read that they are thinking of bringing her character back later in the story line. I didn't really care for the song as it seems to lack a chorus but it seems it was created solely for the scene and really came alive. From the reasoning behind the auto tune on the song and Jussie finally not sounding like a struggling billy goat who insists on singing in his falsetto which is the worst part of his voice imo. Thank you Mariah for vocally producing him. They overhyped her appearance and her character's purpose for ratings, but with all the positive responses by watchers of the show, I think they will bring her back and give her an actual story line instead this brief cameo. To me, Wise Girls will always be her best role and proved to me that she can actually act. She needs gritty roles she can sink her teeth into.

Internet troll from the London Bridge (67,091)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
"A troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, often for their own amusement." I'm glad everyone else is noticing what I've been saying for a long time. It's time to finally banish it from this fan site once and for all. It's time to take our fan board back and let it starve. The UK Mix bans these people from their Mariah page, the same needs to be done here.

Well I guess that would explain why her security team was so comfortable speaking to him that way. Maybe the whole situation got out of hand. I felt really bad for him because of the money he spent but it sounds like he is in close connection to Mariah anyway. Nice guy to give you a great ticket and merch for free.

Re: Why streaming matters (66,699) (66,704)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I don't think anyone doesn't agree that streaming isn't important. Streaming makes up for 25% of the chart position. That's why everyone has been up in arms about Mariah taking forever to release a video after a new single is launched. All that being said, the Empire song is a side project, which Mariah's team may not have complete control over the launch, video, and promo. Plus, why are we even discussing chart positions, steaming etc and the song hasn't even come out yet? Can we just enjoy new music? None of the Empire songs have really taken off so can we just enjoy it for what it is and if it take off, yay, if not, she's working on a new album and the right time will come for a proper single release.
