About 123 from USA:

Re: Your own private concert (66,629) (66,661) by 123 from USA
I think we all picked these emotional songs because everyone here has gone to a Mariah song to help them get through a "moment. " So we just want to enjoy listening to those rare gems that made us connect to her music. Her describing the types of fans she has in this interview fits perfectly as to why we all are fans of her music.

Jussie loves Mariah Carey (66,659) by 123 from USA
I love how well Jussie speaks about her, he describes her in a positive light. I like how he explains she is over the top in a fun way but a kind person.

Re: Re: Butterfly (66,433) (66,448) (66,496) by 123 from USA
Mariah on the supposed "streak". But your albums had just as many singles. Uh-uh. Nope. Look at it from the first album on. Like on my MTV Unplugged, which sold ten million, there was just "I'll Be There". I feel I did have more singles on some of those albums when people were like, "Oh, she's jumping R&B bandwagon", I said, I wish people would just listen to some of the other cuts on my albums that were never promoted. Then they would understand my favorite songs were songs that never got any light. Like? "Underneath The Stars" on Daydream is one of my favorite songs I've ever written. On the first album there's "Sent From Up Above" that was very R&B and that was never released. Too many for me to even name. Even with Butterfly, technically, only two singles were released: "Honey" and "My All". Do you have a say in all that stuff? Everybody swung it like I didn't want to put something out because I wouldn't accept less than a No. 1 Pop single. That's not even true. Like I didn't want to "break a streak". My streak was broken a long time ago. I don't even have a streak. I had five number ones, then I had records that didn't go to number one. Whatever. I wanted to put out "Breakdown" with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. That was a no-brainer. Release it. I'll always be upset "Breakdown" never got its shot. Is that personal to Mariah? Or is that label bullshit? I think that a lot of people - and I'm not saying anything personal to the label - have had these issues.

Re: Re: Mimi L. (66,463) (66,478) (66,494) by 123 from USA
I don't believe Mariah can dictate how her albums are released. Def Jam publicly embarrassed her when she said in an interview that MIAM would be released digitally first as she wanted it to be heard as a "whole", only for Def Jam to release a statement shortly after that her album would get the traditional role out which just made it easy for people to illegally download it as it was available on different dates for different territories. I remember the album wasn't even out yet and my friend called to rub it in my face that they had the deluxe version in their iPod while I waited. I don't think she got a blue chip deal this time around with Sony. Per an article on this site at the time it was alleged she didn't get the advance she was asking for. I would rather her take a lower or no advance at all and in exchange for a say on a projects release or single choices.

New single? (66,406) by 123 from USA
Mariah stating in an interview she hopes to have a new single out by the time she starts her SA leg of her tour. I will never trust the word "soon" to mean within the next six months lol. Maybe she is referring to the duet.

Super vocal series: It's Like That perfect climax (66,404) by 123 from USA
I love all the clips they collected of different parts of the climax she sang live. I need another hot uptempo that features a strong, but feasible lead live vocal from her with a great build. The beat is so sparse that her voice.

Honey live #1 To Infinity 6-25-16 (66,400) by 123 from USA
My favorite Honey performance this year. I loved how she changed the way she sang "running" at the 50 second mark. For someone who has been out since 1990, I still find it incredible that can still come up with new riffs and runs 25 years later. I need her to drop the pre-records that kick in at the bridge, she doesn't need to go for that G5 for the song to still sound good. Singing it live all the way through would really be a highlight the way she is sounding these days. Her tone was so good in June and I can't wait to hear what she recorded while she was in Vegas that month.

Re: Glitter debacle (66,373) (66,397) by 123 from USA
HI Tevin and Licia. Yes Ashanti admitted to singing the reference and they left the vocals. Here is the article. that came out recently where JLo's team admits about knowing Mariah already cleared the sample, JRule discussing how they had access to Tommy's private jet because he wanted the song done and video filmed all in one weekend, and Ashanti admitting she sang the reference. Watch this video as well where Ashanti reveals she was mad that Irv because he gave JLo I'm Real and sang the reference to I'm Real and they left her hook and backgrounds. It's Ashanti you hear on that song, not JLo. Watch at the 3 minute mark.

Re: Ill fated Memoirs album / H.A.T.E.U remix (66,261) (66,310) by 123 from USA
Was that her last real remix? It's sad it kind of went unnoticed. I like when she starts belting at the end. I wish she would have done more of it throughout the song but I still like it. I know some people are tired of Jermaine but I love how good he is at making a ballad a hot uptempo. They should have made a video for this version instead.

Re: New music (66,242) (66,249) by 123 from USA
So glad everyone agrees. I need a two disc set. Disc one full of Sony unreleased songs and disc two full of Def Jam unreleased songs. Hell, can you throw some demos in there too? I think every Mariah fan new and old would buy it. Slipping Away would still sound current on today's radio. Make it the lead singe of the project. Lol.

Thanks B, and I love you too. You are one of my favorites. P.S. I love all this new level of shade that you are serving these days. I'd like to think I was an influence on you. Would you just say I was. Lol. Just kidding. Common Mariah and Drake collab.

Re: Wow some post here (66,231) (66,247) by 123 from USA
Let me hop on in here. Great post Ed. And Sheila I agree to a certain extent. You should never generalize a negative statement about any group of people. That being said, it's funny how everyone jumps on Sheila for that statement, but when there are derogatory statements made about race (of course disguised as a joke), no one but maybe one other person and Mimi L say anything. Everyone becomes mute. Ed is new from what I gather and a new person is going to say what they see. The board has gotten more than negative, downright visceral at times. But for the most part, everyone has valid points. I can't say they aren't. It seems most fans are fed up with her and it makes me sad but I understand. Being positive doesn't mean praising everything she does. Who does that on this board anymore? I think we chased the "she can't do anything" wrong fans away. Look at Marissa. I may not have agreed with her petition but I supported it because she had a good cause and her statement was well written and classy without an ounce of negativity. Her petition was being mocked two weeks ago about its success, but look who ended up taking over their social media, even though it will be brushed off as a coincidence. We may not have wanted naked pics in a tub, but it's a start. My point is you get a lot more with honey than salt. Also, when she does do something good, it never gets the attention that something negative. I was thinking maybe I'm giving her to much credit, and then I watched this. She has come a long way. Please watch and compare to this. Not perfect by any means, but definitely has come a long way.

VOL 9/11/16 (66,172) by 123 from USA
Another great job with VOL on the final night. She talks about an unreleased song at the end called "Do the Coat" that she said she did a while ago that she hasn't released. When is she going to release this stuff? It's like she teases us with these songs she's made but never released and then we never see the light of day. I wonder if she did it while she was under Def Jam. I wonder if she has the ability to release all the unreleased material she made while with them. I really need an album of unreleased songs from both labels. Maybe a two disc set.

Re: New album wishlist (66,092) (66,143) by 123 from USA
Hi Robert Anthony. You actually have an impressive list. We can at least say that the Weeknd, Diane Warren, Crystal, and JD are in the bag. The only other feature that has to happen is the Drake/40 collab. 40 is a brilliant producer and Drake is very talented and isn't afraid to do a love song. A hot song from them would fly up the charts. Come on Mariah, he isn't connected to Nikki via Meek Mill. Tory Lanez is overrated and egotistical for me, I prefer Bryson Tiller. I love how he quotes "Shake it off" on the second verse of Don't. A hot uptempo from Timbo feat Missy would be hot like Janet's "Burn it up". I know he didn't produce that but it sounds like a track of his. Mariah and Jazmine on some throwback song. Babyface and Mike Will. I need something magical like Melt Away and Faded. I never heard of Illangelo and discovered he is a producer/songwriter. He has some hot stuff. Doe he do work with Banks as well? Thanks for sharing your list, I like discovering new music.

Re: Am I too late? (66,079) (66,140) by 123 from USA
You made some great points and I agree with everything you said except for the MIAM part. I still really like that album, even if the songs were all rehash of her 24 year career at the time. I think that was the point of the album. It was great to see her record all of these different songs sequencing them perfectly in the album to where they flowed seamlessly. I always thought YDKWTD, Faded, Beautiful, Dedicated, and Meteorite had great hit potential but she paid the album dust. Which is really annoying. Anyway I do agree with you as far as bad song quality such as Triumfail and Crapfinity. Those should have stayed on the cutting room floor. It is time for her to try some new/present day sounds and experiment.

Mariah in the studio (66,139) by 123 from USA
Glad to see she is continuing to record. I just hope she doesn't run herself too thin where she isn't resting her voice enough and staying away from alcohol. Her voice sounded a little tired recently.

Re: Vegas 9/7/16 (66,017) (66,064) by 123 from USA
NP Licia. I liked how she sang the first verse. She is looking, sounding, and performing like a star. I also like this gradual improvement that has gone on all year with her. I hope she continues. Did you hear her sing Honey? She sings those two verses so good. This is for you and this_is_qhm.

Re: Mariah's posts (66,034) (66,063) by 123 from USA
Hello Mandy. Mariah's latest bathtub pics don't bother me, but I do agree with you that she should probably hire a professional to take the pic and have the ability to dissern as to which pics are appropriate to post, which should just stay on the phone, and which should just be deleted. For me, this is Mariah's "give 0 f*cks era". Meaning, she's kind of done what she's wanted in every aspect of her life without really worrying about how people would perceive her except when it comes to the superficial. Kind of like how Michael Jackson got where he dictated his life without taking consultation from others. Someone should filter what she does and only reveal to the public what would put her in a positive light to the public. If you take a look at the second pic where she is laying back in the tub with her eyes closed, it's a sexy yet classy pic. That should have been the only one posted. The other one would have just been deleted. "What happened to the other pic you ask Mariah? I'm so sorry, I accidentally deleted it."

Oooh I touched a nerve did I? So why do you keep reading and replying? Is it because I pay you dust? You definitely don't run on all four cylinders so you ride the short bus to that bar you work at. "Why you so obsessed with me, I really dont wanna know." Stay in your lane.

Vegas 9/7/16 (66,009) by 123 from USA
Wow Ty you went to a great show. She did the best VOL of this leg and even hit that F5 at the end. She also did another great performance of TGIFY and of course she killed My All.

Re: Duet With Ja Rule prevented a sophomore slump (65,970) (66,007) by 123 from USA
Don't think for a minute that you stumped me, as I've just been too busy living my life to actually take the time out to respond. Your one and only receipt ever on the board is laughable (Roger Friedman was a known Mariah basher before she put him on the payroll as reported on an article on this board and the article has tons of inaccuracies to take seriously). The case was dropped for Can't Let Go as reported by MTV's Week In Rock as the 9 notes that they claim were lifted were cited as common cord progressions in popular music and the songwriting duo were presented with two songs released in 1989 with the same cords, Keith Sweats "Make It Last" and Taylor Dayne's "Love Will Lead You Back". It was basically, drop the case or they will sue you next. During this case it was also clarified that Mariah composes the lyrics and the melody on top of the music that is presented to her as she explains here at the 6:31 mark. You don't lie or embellish? There was never an argument that sampling was "normal" in 1991. Re-read my post. It was the simple fact that "sampling" was a relatively new concept in 1991 mostly used by hip hop producers. You lie, embellish, troll, and flip flop your position as it suits whatever manufactured drama you create that day. (Randy being a prime example.) Red herring indeed. Finally, how easily you forgot that I changed my avatar after you stated Mariah should wear pants like Celine and stop having black people on the stage. I responded with a video of Celine singing with a black back up singer on stage and said your pants idea was boring unless it was something similar to the cover. To which, like always, you have no response. It's you that keeps reading my posts and can't help but reply thinking "Ill get him this time", only to be shot down again. You are quite obsessed, pressed, and recently boring. You are no fun anymore. I can picture you waving your fist in the air while yelling "curses". Surely.

Re: Duet With Ja Rule prevented a sophomore slump (65,936) (65,955) by 123 from USA
Well then the brainless one would be you since you replied to my post and were going on a few weeks ago about how she couldn't have known. Copying ideas to sabotage by releasing the songs before and when Loverboy was released to block its #1 potential is different from the label not initially giving credit to the original composers in the early 90's when sampling was still a new concept. Who couldn't hear Best Of My Love or I Want To Thank You in those songs? It was obvious. The difference is Sony compensated the original composers where Mariah was left scrambling to re-record and the borrower of ideas has yet to tell the truth or at least compensate her financially. Nonsense is trying to say both scenarios are the same, but then again, nonsense has been your platform since you arrived on the board.

Honey 9-3-16 (65,930) by 123 from USA
I used to never watch the Honey performances as it used to be mostly lipped but now she sings most of it live except for the very end. Her tone here sounds so good and I love how she goes for the "cause its blatant that I'm feeling you" growl/belt combo every night. She has me watching her uptempos more to hear what she does next vocally. Some could be mistaken for pre-records as she sounds that good.
