About Stacey from USA: Been a fan since 1993. Favorite albums include Daydream, TEOM, and Music Box. I love a good discussion, but won't stand for hateful comments because we disagree. I am too old to deal with drama and so are you. Keep it real with me and we'll have some fun. Peace.

Re: 19th number one in 2019 (90,925) (90,931) by Stacey from USA
MC is off to a great start with an awesome deluxe edition of Merry Christmas. Here's hoping the trend of smart choices continues. AIWFCIY deserves to be #1 so much.

I'm beyond excited too. Now, onto getting AIWFCIY to #1. We still have things to do, lol.

Re: 16 Weeks (90,443) (90,448) by Stacey from USA
Not sure how to answer this. For me it has nothing to do with the fact he's a gay black rapper. In fact I had no idea until you said that. Listen to OTR then listen to OSD. Mariah and the Boyz are singing into the stratosphere, pure talent. Little Nas X is doing what? Speaking words as he rides a horse down the street? I'm sorry, but it's just sad this song to me anyone could do and score a number one hit. Could any singer out there match MC's talent? There's your answer right there.

Re: 16 Weeks (90,436) (90,440) by Stacey from USA
Just proves how sad music has sunk. Talentless songs like OTR can dethrone one of the greatest female voices of all time and Boyz II Men, who have amazing voices themselves.

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,435) (90,439) by Stacey from USA
Tell us how you really feel, lol. Kidding. For a long time I hated CTTA. Ok hated is a strong word. Didn't care for it. I preferred such self help songs as Make It Happen or Hero. That all changed in 2003. I was at the final show of her CB tour in Southern California. Sat 15 rows back, dead center. The fans voted CTTA be sung that night. I was going through some stuff crap and the message of that song resonated with me like it never had before. So while I've gone back to not listening to the song as much, I can see why others like it. Actually I find myself listening to the Morales radio edit. The slower version tends to put me to sleep. That's not a good thing if I'm driving.

That's pretty much what I said, yet you called my thoughts nonsense. What gives, lol. But I digress.

Regardless Rainbow has its place in Mariah's evolution as an artist and I'm grateful she released it. While it's not one of my favorite albums, there are songs from that album I love (Heartbreaker, CTTA, After Tonight, Crybaby (an underrated gem), Petals). I might put these songs while I do my dishes. I hate dishes. Life of a mom with kids, I suppose. Carey on.

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,396) (90,400) by Stacey from USA
Yep. I think she wanted out of Sony so bad that when the Glitter project got delayed, and she had a bunch of songs recorded for it, she saw an opportunity to get another album out quicker than later, and end her run at Sony. But go ahead and think my opinions are nonsense. I'll still sleep at night, lol.

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,368) (90,387) by Stacey from USA
Oh yeah. MC was desperate to end her run with Sony and move to another label.

So funny how our tastes are all so different. Rainbow is not flawless. Did I Do That is one hot mess, lol. I can't stand most of CB and Caution but I love Giving Me Life and Irresistible. Go figure.

Re: Long Ago (90,018) (90,027) by Stacey from USA
I love Daydream. No surprise there. But for the longest time, I always skipped Long Ago and Melt Away. Say what? I know, shocking. Then I had the CD in an old player in my kitchen. (I like to play music while I clean. Who doesn't, lol?) I let the whole CD play including these songs of course and I realized these songs are amazing. Why did I ever skip them?

Re: Lead the Way (89,945) (89,953) by Stacey from USA
I saw MC on the last night of her CB tour in December 2003. Girl was in fine vocal form. I never was a fan of CTTA until that night. I was going through some crap and when you're sitting 15 rows back dead center, you think she's singing to you, about you. In any event, that song lifted my spirits not to let outside influences determine my worth. Oh and if people can hold their breath underwater, I guess it's possible to hold that final Lead the Way note. Till the End of Time, favorite ballad. Lead the Way? #2.

Re: Music Box and Slipping Away (89,756) (89,757) by Stacey from USA
Now if she ever sang a lick of Till the End of Time, that will be my pass out moment, lol. I love how she is singing less performed live songs and/or more obscure album cuts during her concerts. Music Box came on my playlist the other day. What a masterpiece. I can see why that song tugs at your soul.

First item / most precious item (89,673) by Stacey from USA
I first discovered MC after Hero was released. So I think my first CD bought was Music Box. I used to have a huge MC collection, mostly CDs. My most prized pieces were Butterfly (Brazil Meme mixes), Do You Know (DJ Greco mixes from Brazil), and Miss You Most (USA promo). At one point I had all the Christmas promo CDs. But life got in the way, had three kids, and sold my collection. Some of my items are listed in Eric's discography. Cheers.

My thoughts exactly. She certainly wasn't nervous during 1996 singing all those crazy notes at MSG.

Re: What song is being performed at Awards Show? (89,402) (89,418) by Stacey from USA
A No No
Always Be My Baby
Emotions
We Belong Together
Hero

Pretty decent performance given everything. The major hiccup to me was Emotions. I got to give her credit for trying on that one. But she should have taken her own advice and said "a no no" on that song. She played it safe, singing songs in her middle range. I'd say her acceptance speech was good, particularly the last couple of minutes. And did you see Taylor Swift? Yup, she's a lamb.

Re: Mariah - queen of the intro (89,231) (89,242) by Stacey from USA
Oh my gosh, Till the End of Time to me has one of the most emotionally invoking bridges ever. Ever. That's one thing I've always loved about MC: her ability to tap into our emotions with her lyrics and then sing in a way that releases those emotions.

Oh my Can't Let Go's intro proves you don't need You're So Cold-type belts to produce such powerful emotions. I always hated the radio edit cut off that long intro. One of my favorite ballads. Top 5.
