Thanks Enwar. It makes more sense now that she said new single coming soon if it happens to be the theme song to the show.

Mariah's World (62,275)

Thanks Mimi L for posting the link. It's a lot tamer than I thought it would be. I guess they used the over the top diva image for the promos to entice people into watching if only for her antics. I really want to watch it now, it's interesting that she is out there actually doing promo for the project, it's a breath of freash air. Will the show have a theme song? Maybe the theme song is the "new single" she was referring to not to long ago.

Really? Considering that "Panda" by Desiigner just topped the charts, I'd say any of her hidden "timeless" sounding gems could top the charts. Mimi L. why are you in my mind with Mine Again, and Faded. Migrate was never a favorite but whenever I play it around non-lambs they always ask if it's a new song and then follow up with "Why didn't she release this? It's a banger." I really needed Faded to get a proper release. Hell I'm still sad YDKWTD didn't get proper single treatment with radio adds, a video, promotional performances and an urban and dance remix. This old tried and true Mariah go to marketing campaign always worked when executed properly. MIAM may have been a rehash, but that was the point of an album called MIAM. You can't say the songs weren't good.

Elton John's "Candle in the Wind". When re-released in 97 it reached number 1 on both the UK and US charts. BTW Mariah's AIWFCIY reached on all time high at #11 last December giving Mariah a top 20 hit in 2015. If no new music, just release Slipping Away as a single to radio with a video.

Powers that be (62,124)

I love everyone's lists. I've been revisiting some songs I haven't in a while because of it. I know some of these were kind of singles but they never got the full treatment like actually being sent for radio adds, video, and promotional performances. Mariah Carey: Prisoner/All Alone in Love Emotions: To Be Around You Unplugged: If It's Over Music Box: I've Been Thinking About You/Music Box Merry Christmas: Miss You Most. Daydream: Melt Away/Slipping Away Butterfly: The Roof Rainbow: Crybaby Charmbracelet: You Know You Got Me/Clown TEOM: So Lonely (One & Only Part II) feat Twista/Mine Again E=MC2: For The Record/I Stay In Love Memoirs: Betcha Gon Know/It's a Wrap/Angel's Cry MCIIU: Christmas Time is in the air again MIAM: YDKWTD/Faded/Meteorite

I agree completely. It's never been the music that has been the problem, we all have albums that we don't really care for, but any fan on the board could have picked the right singles from every album and come up with a better roll out and promotional plan. Her promoting the album was very sparse versus her running around everywhere with Lee to help him promote Precious and hope for a supporting actress nomination.

Memoirs (62,085)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I'm the minority. I do like Memoirs. It had a lot of songs that could have done well on radio. The downfall of the album is the same co-songwriter and producer. The problem with Tricky and mostly The Dream is that they are very one note and not diverse enough at all to make a Mariah album. For some reason they decided to make most of the songs in the same tempo which can make the album sound like one long song. The Dream's lyrical involvement didn't help either. I skip Candy Bling as I feel it's a boring song with silly lyrics, it puts me to sleep. I think HateU is a well written song, but sounds somewhat sluggish. The remake sounds like the took a lunch break at the end of the song and never came back to finish it. It still has a lot of strong songs. Betcha Gon Know should have been a single. It was charting and it wasn't even released. Had they made a video to play out the lyrics, it could have really done well. Her walking in to her lover in the bed with someone else. Angels Cry is an underrated ballad, even if it comes from the WBT family, it's still well written and a ballad she could actually sing live if she wanted to. Should have been the second single. My favorite song on the album is It's A Wrap. I love when she does doo wop type songs. It's another song I wish would have been a single. Ribbon has a super catchy melody and puts me in a good mood and Inseparable, Standing O, are strong songs. Impossible is an underrated baby making love ballad. It's hypnotic. Languishing is one of the deepest songs she's ever written and I connect with the sadness of it. Obsessed is one of her best uptempos, she did go left on that song lol. Had she promoted that song it could have went number 1 as it rose to number 7 and went platinum.

Hello Mimi L. Yes I caught that episode last night. The look a like even had her facial expressions and mannerisms down lol. Wendy has been very tame towards Mariah lately, I suspect she is playing nice because she is trying to get Mariah on the show or Mariah might already be scheduled. I believe the only reason she turned on her is because she couldn't get her on the show with the last team she had, so she started to spread lies saying Mariah demanded she sit on Wendy's side, when we all know that the side her guests sit in is Mariah's good side, so no switching sides like on WWHL.

I think it might be to promote the reality show. When is it supposed to air? For some reason I thought this summer. I wish it was new music too. Celine is going to sing at the Billboard awards. Secretly I wanted Mariah to do a surprise performance and sing a new song.

I love this. Kudos to MariahCareyFan for putting it together. I loved the intro, she looks like the star that she is. She really did exceed my expectations vocally with this tour. Here's to her continuing to work on her voice and continue to improve. Can't wait to hear how she sounds in Vegas in this next leg.

Trayvon or however you spell it, if all you got out of my mentioning you is that I misspelled your name, I can see why Andrew picks with you. Well, at least you got to type your fifth paragraph about how you are not going to talk about Andrew.

I apologize Martyn if you felt offended because your name was mentioned in my post. What you consider 12 year old behavior I consider not tolerating racist behavior, but you obviously wouldn’t understand. No impact made, I just used you to prove my point.

I love how you try to turn it around that you are now being discriminated against, but that was your goal. You were hoping Trayvon would reply as you like to play some sick game with him since you don't find him a worthy opponent and love to rile him up. You got Ty instead and jumped at the chance to try to call him out as a hypocrite in regards to sexuality, but nothing was assumed as you and Martyn's "bromance" on this board are clearly understood. Which leads me to seriously question the dating options in the UK. You are a fan of the white washed version of Mariah. Your purpose on this board is to cause chaos and divisiveness. Don't believe me? You are always on this board, yet when the King and Queen of the Valley of Fools arrived, they did your dirty work for you. I'm sure you enjoyed watching all the drama unfold. You usually jump at the chance to reply, but since they were attacking everyone, the job was done. Once they crossed they crossed the line with Eric, he shut them down, hence eliminating the drama. So you dusted off one of your tried and true racist posts to rile everyone up again. Your cycle is as follows, you start of with abrasive, but honest posts. Then you follow up with a scathing post like the one of Celine's husband's funeral, and if you don't get enough of a reaction, you go post something racist. I used to tell you to go be a Celine fan instead but damn, if I didn't just watch a video of a black person not only on stage with her, but singing a duet with her. What's this, he is one of her back up singers? Oops. I'm sure you will find a diva that meets your "qualifications". "Word".

Eric is correct. Whitney and Mariah shared top billing. Whitney was given top billing in the States while Mariah was given top billing internationally per MTV's 1998 report of their duet.

Lamb_O_Chop / Vegas revamp / JLo show (61,697)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Hi Lamb_O_Chop. I understand and respect your prospective, but I would like for you to take a moment and look at it through my vantage point you might see what I mean more clearly. I understand your view of JLo's lack of talent and how it could be insulting to suggest Mariah's team should watch the "less talented" competition, but both casino's are within walking distance. To be fair, JLo does have some talent, it's just not musical. She can dance, look effortlessly beautiful/sexy, and is a good enough performer to put on a great show. I mean the dancers even had props and special effects that went along with the music. You can't say the nice routine on the stairs from 5:40-7:05 isn't something Mariah could do on stage. Also, I am only referring to her Vegas show, not her tours. I prefer her tours stay more bare bones as this is more cost effective, and business savvy to have low production budget when you can rely on your talent. It's expensive to move a big budget tour from city to city internationally. No wonder Madonna's tickets are so pricey. Her Vegas show however, should be a big spectacle. Vegas is as over the top as Mariah is but her show doesn't quite represent this. It's definitely very classy, but restrained. If they dropped the #1s theme they can add some rarer up tempos, Migrate (non-lambs love that one), #Beautiful, Faded, YDKWTD, to show she still makes hot current music. (I would still want her to do the first 4 #1s as they are a rarity and TGIFU as it's the highlight of the show.) Mariah is reduced to gowns and one jet ski outfit. What about a showgirl's outfit like in Breakdown or ISIL. What about having Mariah sing Fantasy on a fake rollercoaster that moves around the stage. Or have her come down a rope from a set piece helicopter for Honey. What about singing a ballad on a flying Pegasus for laughs.

Hi MimiLamb. Lambs wouldn't be so judgemental or critical but these videos are out for world consumption. If say, we were present at these events, I'd be like, look at Mimi, she is turn't up. And well deserved after one of the best tours of her career. But posting this for the world to see. Is everyone not seeing what I'm seeing? Mariah is clearly feeling "nice". If we remember the last time Mariah was filmed feeling "nice" at an event the media had a field day (was it the Palms Film Festival with Lee). Number two, if Nick wanted to be a jerk and go for full custody using these videos claiming she is an irresponsible parent. Number three, she is engaged to be married and the two male dancers at times are standing way to close to her. If they are gay then that's one thing but if they aren't, I don't know any guy who would appreciate his fiance that close to two attractive male dancers. This is the image that the world has of her, a dizzy, drunk, fast acting diva. It keeps getting in the way of people knowing the real her, the artist, the musician, the lyricist, the genius we all know and love. It's a new era and I believe Mariah is looking to make a comeback and things like this don't help. Mariah would not have this clip aired on her docuseries, never mind, "edit that out", she'd have them go the the video file and "press delete".

Re: Mimi and Yonce? (61,680) (61,686)
by 123 from USA

This is what I believed Mimi meant when she said single soon. I was amistad positive it was a duet for Beyonce's Lemonade. When the album came out I was disappointed. It made sense to me as she said it would be "real soon" but that the album would be a while as she wanted to take her time and quite frankly, she is too booked to whip out an album inbetween shows. A duet for another artist is perfect. Hopefully it's true, it comes out as a single and they make a video for it. It would be perfect to add to a revamped Vegas set list if they are willing to not continue with the number 1s concept or replace infinity with it.
