Vegas revamp / J Lo's show (61,659)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Now that Mariah has started to put effort into her performances, I need her Vegas show to be revamped. Stella, please read, take notes, and implement. So I just wanted JLo's intro to her show and it is no joke. I saw another performance for one of her other songs and the performance was great. Mostly because it looks like they have put more money into the production of her show. Mariah doesn't have to be a dancer to execute this type of production. JLo isn't doing much dancing, her dancers are doing most of the work, her movements are just more carefully choreographed. When I sent to her show last summer, my friend was like "Why is she so frozen, and why do her dancers keep treating her like she has to move like an old lady?" I told him about her injury but he reminded me that they did this before that. I had no response. I need Mariah on a pegasus flying across the stage while she sings a ballad, I need her to interact more with the dancers, I need more special effects. It's obvious that they're two different shows, Mariah's being ballad heavy as she is tied to having to sing only her #1s. I need her to do more than stand there during her uptempos. Stella, watch JLo's show and make Mariah's that much better. P.S. Mariah also needs an updated promo reel of her show, preferrably using clips from the latest tour where she is in shape and sounding great.

I can see your point, but you should take into account when she said she wanted to be taken as seriously as Mary. This was 1995 Mariah with the perfect "girl next door/preacher's wife" image, who was still repressed in every single aspect of her life. She was itching to do music with a "harder edge" since she her music back then was considered by people like Crystal Light. Sweet, light, and pretty. She cared a lot more back then about what people thought about her. Whitney and Oprah told her it was because she was in her 20's and once she hit her 30's, she wasn't going to care anymore. Even if Mariah did cover up, I don't know if she will ever get the credibility she deserves. Even in her early days she was covered up but only got recognition for her singing, for some reason, public opinion has always been polarizing when it came to Mariah. Regarding Coco and Chanel, I do wish she would sometimes make better choices. There are some numbers that are way too risqué, especially in the presence of children. I remember the Adventures tour and there were two young girls in front of me who just wanted to hear her sing WBT, I was embarrassed they could see all the booty. Revealing is sexy in her eyes as she is insecure and didn't always feel pretty growing up and first got attention from a guy who told her she had a nice ass when she wore some tight jeans. So takes a page from Toni Braxton, "How high is that slit, I'll take it." Who grew up as the nerdy preacher's kid and not the beautiful sex siren image she has today. She just needs a better stylist who can have her look, dress, and feel sexy without being overexposed. Stella, since you are cleaning house, add a new stylist to the list.

If she brings vocals from the best nights of this tour she will do great. She needs to make sure the live vocals are on point because a predominantly African American crowd will call her out in an instant. I don't want it to be another Jamaica saga. I wouldn't mind her magically adding a Chicago date. One can dream.

Stella needs to keep Mariah booked. This is the best she has sounded vocally in a long time. She needs to continue to work on her voice and the best way to do that is to be on tour now that she has decided to be more disciplined about it. She also needs to reconnect with her international fans. How long has it been since she has toured in certain locations if at all. Add as many dates as possible now that there seems to be an interest in people going to see her. She can record right after the tour and take her time to make some great music and really promote it with great tv appearances and performances.

She may have topped the R&B charts first, but she was never considered an R&B artist. That's why she cried in the car when she was driving home from a late dinner and heard Fantasy being played in the streets and in the clubs, because even though she had commercial success, she wasn't as loved and respected back then like Mary. They are both great artists in their own ways. Mariah will always be special to me because of her musical talent.

I like the return of Bianca, but I agree with your idea that she needs to be used in a different way. It's been way too long and almost too late. Maybe they can do something creative and add her to the reality show. I love the idea of her continuing her shade towards Mariah. It could show the public that Mariah can be funny at making fun of herself.

I dont think she has had any work done recently on her face. If she did, she would have took care of the bags under her eyes. I first noticed them in those candid photos of he shopping in Aspen last December. I'd be ok if she got them done, a little work here and there for maintenance is ok.

Mariah Carey - Tallinn and Riga 2016 Vocals (61,259)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I'm so tired of Mariah being so consistent instead of vocally inconsistent. Before this last Vegas run, I was always nervous each time she had to perform. I wasn't even about how she was going to sound and more about just being able to get through a decent performance. Can you imagine the reaction if she performed with vocals from this tour at the Billboard Awards? I hope this improvement becomes a new normal.

Ok Mariah. I like the way you took command of that stage even before you actually start the song with your ad libs. This is exactly how she should be performing this song. Here's Mariah giving a lot of vocal, body, and command of the stage. I love the asking to turn up her head phones "a lit bit" to calling out the fan's sign without missing a beat.

You made some valid points in your post and I'm interested to know your point of view because of your stance. What if Mariah's next era is a huge success and she's back on top, would you still feel the same and want Stella terminated? Also, if you do, who would you want Mariah to hire as a manager, especially since she has had so many as of late.

Re: TMZ quote / Stella (60,987) (60,996)

No you are right, it's definitely damage control on Stella's part. Especially after Wendy Williams of all people tells Mariah through the T.V that Stella isn't good for her. Maybe Mariah had a "conversation" with her after that story aired. Instead of an article she should just take in the feedback and make changes in her behavior. I don't like how she's been acting one bit either, I'm just appreciative of her part in Mariah's resurgence. It doesn't mean I'm not watching her and giving her the side eye, she doesn't seem trustworthy. This is all just my assumption.

TMZ quote / Stella (60,986)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I do believe Stella wrote the quotes but I also believe Mariah's people are usually the ones doing the writing when a quote is released from her camp, it's just more obvious with Stella as she... um... lacks in that area. I do believe Mariah approved those statements. I think we need to stop believing that Mariah is so aloof that she has no idea what's going on or that people believe Stella is using her as a come up. The statement is true that since Stella has come in the picture she has made more money. The Vegas Shows, the Hallmark deal, The Beacon Theatre, and now the European tour in stadiums. When was the last time Mariah filled a stadium/arena in the UK? I understand everyone's concern as they are just commenting on what is being presented on social media and the press, but Mariah may look like Malibu Barbie, but the reality is she is a shrewd business woman. Stella will not ruin Mariah's career, nor will she be able to get one over on Mariah. Lets not forget Mariah is quick to give anyone their walking papers. Benny got the boot once E=MC2 lost its steam. Chris Lightly came and went after the unsuccessful Memoirs era, Randy, a friend and co-worker since 1990 was not spared after the Idol failure, Jermaine got the boot after the messy MIAM era and Kevn Lyles came and went after the Butterfly sugar water idea never took off. Mariah always gives the manager one project or if they are lucky, an era. If there is no success, they get the heave ho, regardless of the relationship, as it's just business. If Stella gets to be at the helm of a new album release and it fails, best believe she will get the heave ho. Mariah is tired of carrying people financially, she needs a team that's going to help her make money. As long as there is success, Mariah may put up with some of Stella's antics.

When was the last time you heard her sing this part of this version of Fantasy live and sound this good? I love how each audience is given slight vocal differences. Her belts, which to me are the money notes for her, have become clearer, stronger, and higher. Here is another video showcasing her belting range so far ending with her belting a note in Heartbreaker that I haven't heard in a long time. I can't at this perfection.

It would be nice to hear. Do you believe that Heat was the best of the bunch during their sessions or that they might have a hidden gem whose sound might not have fit that particular album?

Hi Billy. I'm only aware of the song "Heat" recorded during the E=MC2 era. I believe it was aw bonus track for the album. It features Hoodriah in full force. The lyrics are hilarious.
