Article: Mariah Carey confirms autobiography (88,809)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

I love books and autobiographies. I have an old book about Mariah which is called "The sensitive star". Can't wait to read her autobiography.

That's cool. I guess it's really a long time ago since her mum was seen in public. I always like to read your posts, you have such a positive energy. That's rare today. I'm sure you'll enjoy Mariah in concert next Friday. Please share your concert experience on the board. So have a good time.

Mine too. That song has something special, only Mariah can create this mood on a song. I also heard it first at her perfume commercial and when it was on the album I was so happy. I wish they would have released "For the record" instead of "Bye Bye". It sounds modern but still classy Mariah with that dreamy tune. it.

I'm not mad, but I can't stop laughing because of this "Mariah played (a hot) Ursala". It's too much for me. Lol. I love Disney too especially the old classics but I can't imagine Mariah doing a Disney song again. I count "Almost home" because it was for "Oz" made by Disney. Just for laughs: MC is the ultimate Arielle, didn't she mention she loves the Arielle theme?

Re: Does anyone here even stream music? Part 2 (88,699) (88,716)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

"$10 a month you get millions of songs." Yes, but I don't want and need millions of songs. Just because something is trending like streaming, that doesn't mean it's better. I don't like to listen to music via computer. I have an excellent stereo system at home where I can really enjoy the music offline not just "consume" on the internet besides. On the way I have my mp3-player. I also like YouTube. What I mean is I prefer quality music over quantity. I did buy Mariah's album on the first day of the release, so to say the "retro lambs" are the reason Mariah isn't selling enough is not fair.

I do it like Dove, I have all the albums from my favorite artists on cd. And I still love to buy cd's and to collect them. I have digital downloads, but don't stream with iTunes or Tindal or whatever. I do enjoy and appreciate music more if I have it on a physical copy. Anyway I also think the group who are streaming the most are teens and young twens, it's not Mariah's fan base like Ribbon already mentioned. We may have less time than the teens, but we have money to buy good music.

Mara, I don't know what to say. I'm so sorry. I was reading your post and was happy to read your descriptions of the concert and the Mariah Meet and Great. I would have felt the same way if I had the chance of meeting her. To go on with the post and read what happend to your mom. I have no words. Life's so unfair. Please don't feel guilty that you went to Vegas to meet your "sister". I know exactly what you mean with "all the stuff don't mean anything". I wish you a lot of strength during this sad time. Sending a hug.

by MusicfanJ from Germany

There couldn't be a better song for the ending of Music Box than "EFA". From "Dreamlover" to "Without You" to "Everything fades away". It suits very well. It's one of her best songs from her entire catalogue. From the first second to the excellent choir/male voice and the haunting end. I can listen to the last 30 seconds endlessly. Never heard something like this. It's so dreamy and I also used to listen to it before bedtime.

Yes most of her videos are about being pretty or partying. Except the live concert videos. But some have more to tell visually like "Butterfly" or the "The roof". I love the partying in "Fantasy" and "Agent M" in "Honey" by the way.

I thought immediately of you Special K. when Bryan was doing some dancing in the video. I'm reading all of the thoughts of the video here on this board. Very interesting. I think it's an ok video. I like the colours. I'm missing a little story too. But compared to the GTFO video, it's not so bad. It looks modern with all the dancers on the train. Her kids are sweet on the few seconds.

Re: A No No feat. Stefflon Don (88,358) (88,366)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I never heard of Stefflon Don. Google says she's a British female rapper. I'm not disappointed that it's not Cardi B. I never understood why this woman is popular/in? For me it's average, nothing special about her. Anyway I remember that MC wanted to work with Justin Timberlake for the remix back then. Maybe his management was against it, I found it dumb from Mr. Timberlake. Maybe Stefflon Don will surprise us and suits well to the No No remix.

Wow what a great set list. Everything one could hope for. That she did "Anytime you need a friend" in concert was something I was wishing for since forever. And what a surprise with the Glitter medley. Mariah made everyone happy with this set list.

A jazz album would be a dream. With musicians who are playing real instruments. I think of it since she did the jazzy intro of her band during the "Charmbracelet tour". (And I love "The wind".) The short version of "Don't explain" shows she's at least a little open for jazz. So a jazz-influenced album would be really something special.

It's unbelievable. I also liked "Empire" and when I read about the "attack" I was really shocked. Who would think that it was all fake and his own idea to get more money or fame with the press? Well never trust an actor. Honestly it's like a bad movie. What a fake and ill person Mr. Smollett seems to be. I'm sure he has got enough money, I hope he loose all his supporters and tv-appearances. He should spend the money for true victims.

Karl was a fashion genius. I'm not into fashion at all haha, but Karl was really great. I love his famous quotes like "we don't know Heidi Klum, she was never in Paris" lol and so on. The pic on instagram where he kissed Mariah's hand is fantastic. I find it always cool that MC knows/knew everybody who is a real legend too.

"Make it happen" is more than just a song, it's somehow Mariah's anthem. And I also get hope and positive energy everytime I listen to it. Her Madison Square Garden concert is hypnotic and for me one of the best. I don't care if it's dubbed, it's wonderful. I have it on a VHS cassette, and it never gets boring to watch it. Classic Mariah at her best.

Yes, when I watched Glitter in 2001 that was my first thought. Sylk in the movie is J.Lo, there are no doubts. Haha. The actress who played Sylk really looks like J.Lo and the stealing of the song was also in the scene. I'm pretty sure that was Mariah's idea.

Agree. Nobody can force such great melodies. It was her just like the other genre as well. I think Mariah has her unique mark on every song, no matter if it's pure RNB, Soul, Gospel or Pop. That's one thing (among many others) I love about her.

Chris1992, your post is really interesting and I agree with a lot of your thoughts. "One of the things I love about early Mariah is how unaffected she was, as a person and as an artist. She was raw and there was beauty in that."
I love the Butterfly album and the videos too. They were "Hollywood" but still classy. But I'll always prefer the Long Island girl when it comes to Mariah as a person and an artist. For me that was real. A little shy, her beauty was out if this world and the voice of an angel plus her pure genius talent. The diva playing can be fun too (sometimes), but I don't need it. Mariah as a person and singer is interesting enough.

Oh yes, such a great woman. One of the best. Still so beautiful, classy and what a voice. I've been listening a lot to Gladys and the Pips lately. What a joy to discover all the songs. I've always loved her "Bond song", now I listen to "I feel a song in my heart" every day. So it's nice to hear Gladys also "rocked" the anthem.

I just read the comments on her instagram. Most of the people are disappointed. And I still think it was wrong to go there and be paid for it. I was wondering why there are no pics of it on her insta or something else? Maybe her team realized it's not a good look for a global superstar.
