Mara first I want to say happy belated birthday to you. You must be very happy with the lovely presents. Unfortunately I have no experiences with a meet and great for Mariah. But I can completely understand what you mean with super excited. I've been a fan and admirer for Mariah since 95. So I grew up with her too. It's like you said, it's one big lifetime dream to meet the woman who is there for one for so long. Somehow MC is like a close friend because she's a part of our life with her music and so on. I mean the longtime fans. Anyway I'm sure you'll find a nice outfit for Mariah. You'll look beautiful with everything. Don't be too nervous. But I understand that it's almost a bit frightening. Your thought what would happen if Mariah has a bad day could be mine, if I had a meet and great. But that won't happen. I know on this board are some members who have already had the meet and great. It's always interesting to read those experiences.

Giving me life / the Eddie Murphy part (87,269)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I just found out that the speaking part at the beginning is from the movie "Trading places". I know that is was written in the booklet. But I didn't know what movie it is. I googled the translation and realized it's from one of my favorite movies. Lol. Only Mariah would use such a quote and I love it. So it seems that Mariah likes that movie too. Sorry Webmaster for sending an unready message. It was the smartphone.

Wow just wow. I've always wanted to listen to the full song like so many of you. The snippet I know was great but the full version shows again what a voice. Incredible. There's so much emotion and soul in it. I wish they would release all the hidden treasures too. Thanks for the link. And thanks to Tom Webster for uploading this. I'm so happy to listen to the whole song now.

Yes, you don't need to like Walter. I understand that Mariah is still a bit angry about him as a person. But professionally they created magical songs that will stay forever. I love her new album but honestly you can't compare the songs with "Everything fades away", "Can't let go" or "Anytime you need a friend". They are on their own league. To say they just had an easy formula back than is not true. The harmonies and the lyrics were just perfect. But I agree that today's music business wouldn't appreciate it like they did in the 90ies.

Lol. Tommy was and still is a bit obsessed with Mariah. I believe MC that he was a control freak. When Thalia had her first "hit" single I thought she was copying a bit from MC. That was before Tommy was dating Thalia. I think he still wishes he would take part in Mariah's life.

I enjoyed it too. Great article. It's true, I was almost surprised about the good music reviews for "Caution". Mariah can be proud of her successful tour, her new album and of course the love she's finally getting from the music business. And I think we as fans are happy that 2018 Mariah was showing that she's having fun again with her music and tour.

Why should Mariah acknowledge Ariana? MC did acknowledge real artists so many times since day one. And she's still praising other musicians. But should a singer praise every other singer just because they are in the same business? I don't think so. I would never praise a person if I don't like him/her. That's normal. It has nothing to do with insecurity. It's better to say nothing sometimes than saying something positive when it's not true and not heartfelt. Mariah doesn't need to play up to Ariana. Fun fact: I love Julia Roberts. I love her look and her acting. But I can't stand J.Lo for many reasons. Of course everyone has another taste, luckily.

TJ if you watch old interviews from Mariah you could tell she was a diva in the 90ies. At the age of 24 she was already a global superstar with many number ones and a bestselling female artist. I can only imagine how that affects a young person. But for me Mariah was always more playing the diva and hiding a bit of her true, sensitive part. I think Mariah was the biggest diva during 95/96. In the late 90ies she just seemed funny and humble again. What I'm trying to say is Mariah was a diva almost since the beginning. But I don't mean it negative. Mariah is much more than that image. We fans know it. We feel it trough her music. Someone wrote on YouTube just look into her eyes and you see the "real" MC. I agree with it. I see a beautiful woman with a big heart. Now I'm gonna listen to "Portait".

I love "When christmas comes". The original has already a classic vibe, I love the retro soul feeling. The version with John Legend is also very catchy. "Christmas time is in the air again" is a next holiday classic too.

Yup, I can't stand Ariana for the same reasons too. Everything looks so forced and fake. Only business, nothing feels heartfelt and honest. She's really just a "Disney kid" who knows what seems to be "trendy" for the mainstream. I remember when I was in school, my young music teachers almost adored Mariah for her talent. They were really impressed by the songbird supreme. That will never happen with Ariana.

Deedre that's right. It's really a nice little movie for the Christmas time. It has a good message and humor (the Christmas decoration from the neighbor). Of course I love the original version with Mariah's narration. But even with the synchro it's enjoyable. How nice from your mom to buy it for you. Merry Christmas.

I think it's not a surprise. I'm pretty sure her Christmas album will get even higher next week. Everywhere I go, I hear "AIWFCIY". With the strong streaming of it and downloads Mariah could get another present before Christmas night. This song is truly an everlasting gem. That a 24-year old Mariah wrote it makes it even more special. I even watched the animated kids movie yesterday. It was fun watching it. Little animated MC and Jack, too cute.

The same here. Even my ā€ˇcolleague loves it when "AIWFCIY" gets played on the radio. And it gets played a lot here. Imagine this year it would be at number one. Not that MC needs another one, but it would be nice for her and the lambs worldwide. Anyway I wish you all a wonderful time and a lot of festive moments. Merry Christmas.

Yup she sounds nothing like Mariah and will never. Maybe they compared her because it was obvious Ariana tried to copy some things or maybe were forced from the management (I don't know). Christina Aguilera were compared at the beginning of her career too to MC. But after a while Christina really got her own style. I can't see that yet by Ariana.

Re: Berlin concert (86,908) (86,910)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

Luckily I joined the Berlin concert. The 5-hour travelling was definitely worth it. As Manuel said it was a pleasure to see Mariah and her show. And I can only agree. The mood of the audience was great, Mariah got love from the first second and she got the love back. Her smile can melt ice. She seemed like an angel and a Christmas princess in one person. Of course some parts were lipped, but the live parts were blowing you away. Mariah still got it. A true legend who was rocking the arena. I also enjoyed her band, the dancers and of course Trey and the other two singing ladies in the background. I had two Italian fans behind me and they were literally freaking out. Even the older ones (and I mean old) were having fun and gave her standing ovations. What else can I say? In the German newspaper from Berlin it is written even Grinch would get in the Christmas mood after watching her concert. It was a spectacle. Mariah looked beautiful and it was an honor to see her live. Thank you Mariah for that great evening. It was like beautiful dream. Something the people need more than ever today. I wish all the lambs who are joining her other concerts in Europe a great time. You'll have it.

Hi MC1989, I know what you mean. Your descriptions of the costumes sounds scary. I was hoping that this year the costumes would be more classy and tasteful since Crustella is gone. Just a red dress or something very classy for the show would suit perfect. I love her "princess" dress from Disneyland. That would be great too. Hmm the Angel thing I don't get it too.
