Re: Test (70,343) (70,354)

I thought that Mariah had one last push in her, one final hurrah before the curtain call. But, with the arrival of this new website of hers, it is now incredibly bizarre and unthinkable to imagine that she is a person, an artist, at the top of their game who can sell and stream. She's nowhere near the top of her game. This current PR project is a great idea. For someone young and fresh and starting out. For an ageing diva it's the promotional equivalent of the stain that men walk out of the public bathrooms checking their crotch for. I think Martyn is probably right that the One More Try reference was a bit too much. Whilst it wasn't trying to sell the record, it was trying to sell Mariah through the record. Enough just to let the man go in peace and wish him well, methinks.

The twatterverse (70,353)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
Twitter is amazing: it allows people to talk to the dead. Cynical I may be, but it is rather like using someone else's death for self-promotion, isn't it? And, am I so cynical to flinch every time someone says "my friend". Does it matter that everyone should know that you were friends? It would seem to matter only if you want your flagrant self-promotion to be more important than the other guy's. It's a staple of award shows: "And the award goes to - my friend - Vacuous Simpleton." Too many tweets make a twat.

George Michael (70,307)
by Andrew from UK

George Michael once stole this bottle of vodka from me. Never bloody getting it back now, am I? Genuinely nice guy and one of the few male vocalists who could outsing the divas. His version of Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me is one of the most punch-the-air, kickass recordings ever. One can only hope he finds the peace in death in he could never seem to find in life.

Your post defies comprehension. Professionally, I count Mariah "post-Tommy" as meaning "post-Columbia". Whilst at Columbia, Mariah still had control over her career from the Sony execs etc. Post-Columbia, TEOM was along the lines of the Sony days in terms of global success. Removing that, everything else is average in comparison in terms of, well, almost everything. Mariah and lambs like to claim that most success is down to her and most failings down to other people. In reality, the more power Mariah exercises over her own career, the shitter it is. I once postulated a theory that Tommy et al. realised what a nut-job Mariah is and reined her in because of it. Maybe to stop Glitter from happening lmao. I would love to hear Mottola interviewed about what he thinks of Mariah Carey's career in the last ten years. And Merry [censored].

Remove TEOM post-Columbia contract and there's not much chart success anywhere to be found in these 15 years. There's certainly not an increase in respect for her as an artist with the wider public. So the so-called The Truth's sentiments are, almost, correct.

Really well written. I think it's quite simple, though. Stella is trying to pitch Mariah to a young audience, but it's an incredibly ill-conceived model as young people (save, perhaps, for a few) aren't ever going to get into Mariah and all the slightly-less-young and older people, who've been following Mariah for the best part of her career, feel sidelined and bemused as to how such a dramatic paradigm shift occurred. It's almost like Mariah is stabbing her core fans in the back with Stella's hand guiding the knife. However, Mariah's problems started a few years before Stella came along and instead of making the right decisions, Mariah has, mostly, made all of the wrong ones.

I'm Andrew. I'm the one you called a troll. So you do know me haha. In fact, I've got the same name as the presenter you called a "queen". Been posting here long enough, can't miss me. [censored] It seems so. Were you to call a straight person a "queen" you would sound equally as [censored] as you do now, if not more so. It references homosexuality in an intentionally derogatory way. I know gay people who despise it. In the context of humour, it might be okay. But actually, it just sounds like you're a [censored] haha. Merry Christmas.

"As for WWHL I loved her episode I just don't like Andy he's way to bitchy, queen acting." Haha nice one. One must wonder: were Andy straight (assuming that he isn't already) and had asked the same questions in the same manner, would you have made a derogatory reference to his sexuality?

I say cut Mariah out and stick J.Lo in the original. It would have been far more entertaining. At least J.Lo isn't dead from the neck up and the ribcage out.

Carpool Karaoke (69,990)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
The video is fun. However, all the other artists are normal human being who move about and have fun. Mariah is a stiff wooden board who fixes herself into a pose she thinks will look okay and tries not to move out of it. And wears anything possible to reveal the most [censored] pair of [censored] [censored] breasts. She is now unable or unwilling to move any facial muscles. She has had so much plastic surgery she doesn't even vaguely resemble the Mariah Carey I remember from Proctor's Theatre. She is boring to watch, boring to listen to. Congratulations Mariah. There's no longer anything redeeming about you except your back catalogue.

I don't know why people fixate over Mariah's children, it's somewhat creepy. But having watched the latest episode of Mariah's World, I do have to ask, has anybody else always had the thought that Mariah prefers Monroe to Moroccan?

Mariah Carey being Lionel Richie's support act, 27 years into her recording career? Mariah Carey, one of the biggest selling recording artists of all time, supporting another artist on tour? Theeee mother-Eric-censoring Mariah Carey being a support act? What the [censored] is next? Barry Gibb with very special guest Celine Dion? Jamie-Lynn Spears with very special guest Celine Dion? Sponge Bob Square Pants featuring Whitney Houston? Stop the planet. Stella's getting off. Stupid bitch.

Mate, your explanation follows a logical pattern, but, reasonably, would anybody really have given a shit if Mariah, who was in her late teens early twenties at the time of coming out, was a girl of the sixties? Quite bizarre. "She's twenty, darling, but, alas, she was born at the arse end of the sixties. Avert your eyes, darling, avert your eyes. Don't stare directly at her. She's dead to us now." Essentially would anyone in 1989 have cared that somebody was born in 1969? In 2019, will anybody care if a new artist was born in 1999 or 2000? How strange. And, most importantly, why would you lie about your age for your entire life? I guess you wouldn't. You'd avoid the question. You'd proclaim to be "eternally twelve". I thought the "eternally twelve" thing was just Mariah being Mariah. Turns out, it's a lifelong cover up. Outstanding.

Mariah Carey: "I don't know what people think of me" (69,775)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
Mariah is increasingly full of [censored] attempting to continue to peddle nonsense she's been peddling her entire life. It's not a [censored] documentary. It's a scripted reality show. Documentaries educate. Mariah's World is cheap light entertainment. And her lawyers "lured" her into American Idol for their commission? Always a [censored] victim. Nothing to do with the fact that she turned herself into a Music Account instead of a Music Artist. She's played the victim her entire life. And if she really doesn't know what people (non fans) think of her she's in big trouble. And even fans don't buy this "I act like a cheap immoral [censored] but that's not the real me" any more. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably won't [censored] sink in water. Always the same bullshit from her. [censored] What the [censored] is wrong with her? She keep blowing the bloody things up. When her policy is to constantly cut outfits down to reveal breast implants, safe to say she's disconnected from reality. She mustn't know what Joe Public thinks of her. Because he thinks she's a cheap punchline that has a successful song once a year for two weeks. What the bloody hell happened to her? She's a disaster of a human being at the moment.
