About 123 from USA:

Baby / Da Brat-Mariah’s proxy (51,133) by 123 from USA
It's funny that you say that about your brother Baby because my younger brother also has respect for Mariah for being a songwriter. Of course he would have never known because he doesn't listen to her music. You are correct to say that Da Brat was Mariah's proxy. I remember during Mariah's infamous TRL visit, she said that Da Brat's part on Loverboy was her favorite part of the song, probably because she was upset that Tommy stole two of her concepts/ideas and gave them to Jennifer whom got a number one off of Mariah's ideas (hate on me, as much as you want to, you can't do what the @#$% I do) and was tired of all the little pop girls trying to be her (Christina, Jessica, etc). (@#$^@#$ be emulating me daily.) She definitely would have went in on the last album. It will be interesting to see if they collaborate again one day.

Melt Away 2011 extended mix (51,108) by 123 from USA
I love the extra instrumentation on this remix and I love how the song ended instead of the vocals slowly going into fade and almost missing that high note at the end. Makes me love the song all over again.

I Still Believe Pure Imagination remix (51,107) by 123 from USA
I love this remix and video. This should have been on the remix album. It's simple yet creative. The Mexican theme really worked and she looked great. I loved how she flipped the song and used the Willy Wonka loop. Who else would have thought of that? I loved how she used to pick the sample for a record based on a song or melody she loved growing up, wished she still did that or at least would do a real remix. I don't know if Billboard considers remixes completely different chart entries now a days. This was one of my favorite eras because you didn't know exactly where Mariah was going to go musically and I loved how she was really embracing rap and r&b. The pop/top 40 stations weren't playing her anymore, but she was getting a lot of love on the urban stations, especially with the multiple versions of this song. A lot of people didn't like Brat's verse but I loved it because at the time, she was rapping exactly what Mariah wanted to say but couldn't. The jab to Derek Jeter. She even addressed Tommy's sabatoge/smear campaign "even if my label drops me, I'ma still sell copies". Truer words couldn't be spoken.

Stacey (51,106) by 123 from USA
I’m glad you liked the videos. She was on her A game vocally during the beginning of the Mimi era. The vocals in her BET Blueprint performances were really good. It's Like That sounded just like the album version and she didn’t try to lip the last note or the last chorus of WBT. I also want her to give some of her old songs some love, especially some album cuts like Melt Away, The Roof etc. It would be great if she released all the unreleased stuff for the fans, especially after all the silence.

Baby / Wendy / Touch My Body (51,105) by 123 from USA
Baby, I agree about Wendy trolling Mariah. For a while there she was talking about her every day and it was always negative. If you notice, before Jennifer Lopez came on her show, she was always shading Jennifer in favor of Mariah. Once Jennifer came on, she started in on Mariah. I agree with you how weird it is because Mariah was on her radio show 3 times, especially when Wendy told Mariah she was offered money to join a smear campaign against Mariah, which further proves that Tommy was doing everything to ruin Mariah. What annoys me the most is that one of her producers Norman is supposedly a lamb but he agrees with Wendy half the time. I wonder when they fell off because Mariah even shouts Wendy out in Touch My Body (because they be all up in my business like a Wendy interview) before she had her tv show.

Illuminati (51,036) by 123 from USA
I rather talk about the illuminati than her not working with anyone who isn't black.

Mariah Carey Beautiful featuring Trey (50,999) by 123 from USA
Did anyone see this performance? This is my favorite performance of the song. The vocals are rough and raw, but I like how she went for it more instead of hiding behind the pre-records. The notes she was hitting live that night prove that she doesn't need the pre-recorded vocals. They are very clear in this video. I love how at the end she must have thought to herself, screw it, I'm going to sing on top of these pre-recorded whistle notes.

Wendy Williams (50,980) by 123 from USA
Baby, I just got done watching Wendy today. She really just makes it a mission to blast her. She has pity for her. Saying she shouldn't do new music but just let her go to the studio so she thinks she is doing something. Saying she can't compete in a Rihanna world. She should just worry about Vegas. Saying she needs to be seen out dating. Then an audience member blasts her too saying she agrees and that Mariah can't sing anymore.

Someday demo (50,978) by 123 from USA
Where are these videos coming from? Here is the one for Someday. I wonder if she has access to her old demos and if she does, would she release them for the fans?

Lee / intro / HRC vocals / Vegas (50,976) by 123 from USA
Thank you Lee for posting the intro and the performance. If you watch the intro, it explains her present vocal state. For whomever said that Mariah may not be aware of how she sounds, if you watch the intro, you will hear her say "I'm going to get through it tonight because I'm a little horse because I'm working on a new album." So she hasn't gotten any sleep and is back to having all nighters with JD and crew in the studio. This performance is irrelevant to what she is going to sound like in Vegas. Even if she had an amazing performance, if she doesn't get enough rest at least a week prior to the first performance, she isn't going to sound great anyway. It's all up to whether she gets enough rest right before the show and rehearses. I liked that the speech was off the cuff, she went into a personal story and then pulled in human rights. It was a nice speech.

Mariah 1999 interview (50,877) by 123 from USA
I loved it. It's great how she talks about how she does not consider herself a pop artist and that even though she may look ambiguous, she loves to make black music - hip hop/r&b/soul music. For those on the board who want to white wash her and watch her sing MOR ballads for the rest of her life. I loved how she talked about her voice and how she needs a special mic to her creative approach and how much she used to love dance/techno/house/edm music because it was so freeing and how she throws shade at it now because it became so watered down and mainstream and colorless. I hope when she comes back that she does more interviews where she discusses her creative process. It shows how much of a musician she is. Like Fantasia said, "Mariah is music."

Singing the classic number 1s in Vegas (50,839) by 123 from USA

I don't know if she is just going to do a medley of her older hits (first three albums), but I began to worry if her voice could ever pull it off. Then I remembered this performance from not so long ago, 2013. I never thought I would ever hear her sing this song again let alone a snippet of her sounding so close to the 90s belts. It was like, woah.

Blueprint VOL performance (50,835) by 123 from USA

This is the real Mariah. Even when singing a ballad, she is so expressive with her body. She isn’t standing there, frozen. When I first heard this, I was being so critical and commented on how she now has a rasp in her upper belts and how she doesn’t sound as crystal clear as the 90s. Days later, I went back to it after seeing some performances between 99-04, and I was so impressed as to how much more soulful she sounds when she belted on this performance. The imperfections in her voice, actually made her performance that much more emotional and expressive. The changes she made to the arrangement just made it better 15 years later. That growl at 2:29 made everyone in the audience stop what they were doing and cheer. How lucky they where to witness this. All of the Blueprint performances were so great vocally, and performance wise. I rather her sing it live instead of lipping the end of each song and sing those parts, imperfections and all. As long as she is singing like this, there is now way you can’t feel what she is singing.

Your Mine remake (50,816) by 123 from USA
I like this version of Your Mine. I believe if Mariah would have taken a more throwback 90s, organic sound, it would have made the song better. Listen and let me know what you think.

Mary J. Blige - The London Sessions (50,815) by 123 from USA
When I heard she was going for a throwback sound on the new album, I was excited. When I would listen to Amy Winehouse, I would think, Mary would sound good singing these songs. It was an A+ idea, with an F in execution. None of the songs are really memorable except for the Disclosure produced song "Right Now", and even that song doesn't stay in your head except for the beat. This is just one prime example that even if someone changes their sound, if they dont have great songs, it's not going to work. I do believe that regardless of the direction, Mariah will make sure she has some great songs.

MIAM / new album direction (50,814) by 123 from USA
Its interesting to read people's opinion about the album almost a year later. Everyone agrees that it was a solid body of work but more of the same and nothing new. I also don't listen to it as much anymore except for my faves (YDKWTD, Faded, Dedicated, Meteorite). The vocals were the best she has had since TEOM and MCIIY but they sounded over processed on some songs, such as the high belts on One More Try. They sounded studio enhanced, abnormally high and thin on that song. I'm fine with maybe taking out the raspiness of some belts if she wants them to sound smoother. Fine touches here and there. Just not notes that don't sound real. You're Mine was overproduced. Too many synthesizers and sounds that an actual instrument can't replicate. Had they kept it simple, used actual instruments, it would have came out so much better. I hope that she finds a balance and does more organic sounding songs/throwback along with a few contemporary producers thrown in for some uptempos (Timbaland, DJ Mustard, MikeWillMadeIt, and Disclosure). She can mix genres as well, like jazz and hiphop. Which is the sound want her to do this go round. Along with a few jazz ballads.

Time-out (50,742) by 123 from USA
Andrew, I believe you need to follow your own advice and take a time out. You have needed a time out for a long time. You're annoyed that someone called you out and addressed you using something other than your name yet you call people delusional all the time. You can spin it however you want to justify what you said, but in the end, you blame her working with "black people" as part of her downfall and the only reason why she won't work with Walter. So Walter running his mouth had nothing to do with their bad blood or the fact that they no longer saw eye to eye on Butterfly's sound. Beautiful went platinum and charted well all over the world for her and she worked with Miguel and Happy Perez and neither are white. Good music is good music, regardless of color. How is there not much crossover making black/hip hop/r&b/soul music when Eminem has sold millions and Adele has sold even more. 30 Million albums sold for Adele. James "Big Jim" Wright produces the sound that many people want her to re-create with Walter. Stripped down ballads, but with a lot more soul.

Unreleased songs (50,673) by 123 from USA
Does going back to Sony give Mariah access to any of her masters to the stuff she worked on during her Columbia years? It would be interesting to find out. I remember when she was promoting the Memoirs album an interviewer asked her if she would ever release an album of her unreleased material and Mariah didn't really answer the question, and seemed upset like she brought up a sore subject.

Mimi L. (50,671) by 123 from USA
Thank you Mimi L. I think that Mariah saw that Def Jam no longer considered her a priority when they put all their energy into Kanye's Yeezus album. When she turned it in to the label in the summer 2013, they weren't thrilled with it originally having mostly ballads. So after the album title leak, the life changing accident, she decided to change the sound and feel of the album and possibly save some gems she didn't want to go to waste on a project that had everything working against it. With rumors that Mariah got an advance lower than what she expected from this new deal, the label is being cautious and expecting a hit from her before they invest in a completely new project. So they are going the safe route and counting on nostalgia and her past hits to spark up interest. The new songs she is adding are going to be singles that they will use to test out the waters and they are expecting a hit. If she does make another hit, another album will soon follow. In my opinion, she has to come out guns blazing. So not only does she have to have a hot song, but great performances/promotion and a clear channel deal. It really helped Beautiful get heard and the sales (platinum) and chart position proved that it was a song people liked. Could have been number 1 but she didn't promote it because she was still in the studio (which was a big mistake).

Saving songs (50,655) by 123 from USA
I do believe that Mariah has song great songs from the MIAMEC sessions that weren't on the album. In March 2013 she said that she "has more than enough songs" but in the process of finishing things and mixing and all that. Then went on to continue to record in the late summer and even up to the Spring of 2014 adding songs from those sessions on the album instead. I think she might put some of those on the re-issue and then quickly put out a new album with all new material if the re-issue does well. Just my thoughts.

Lauryn and Mariah (50,653) by 123 from USA
They should still try to create a duet together. Lauryn re-signed with Sony and Mariah is with Epic which is also under the Sony family, it could work this time around.

We Belong Together / Lotus Flower Bomb Mashup (50,652) by 123 from USA
The best WBT mashup I have heard. Both of these songs fit amazingly. I hear this version of the song all the time now. Take a listen and let me know what you think.

Producers / songwriters / artists for next project (50,651) by 123 from USA
I would love for her to work with the following list of folks for the next project:
Mark Ronson - #1 Song right now / Amy Winehouse.
Happy Perez/Miguel - Pop Soul perfection.
DJ Mustard - The Beautiful remix was hot.
Jerrin Howard - I loved Wale's Lotus Flower Bomb.
Pharrell - I always wanted them to give it another shot, I know they can make magic together. I loved Happy.
Timbaland - Empire's music producer. He also complimented her on MIAM saying it was a good album and he was proud of her.
Bigg D and Lamb - An SWV song they produced on their reality show sounded amazing, like an updated R&B 90s song.
Sia - She wrote Diamonds for Rihanna, a great song. They would write something classic.
Drake - Best rapper out there, they would merge well.
Noah 40 Shebib - Drakes go to producer.
Jeremy Lloyd - Marian Hill producer Jazz meets Hip Hop.
Frank Ocean - He can write a good song when he isn't trying to be too cool for school, Beyonce's I Miss You is brill.
Bruno Mars - No brainer.
Q-Tip - I thought Meteorite was a nice change for her, it would be great to see what else they would cook up.
Emeli Sande - Co-wrote Alicia Keys' Brand New Me. Lyrically brilliant song, it really hits the soul.
What do you all think?

Producers / Jermaine (50,650) by 123 from USA
I'm glad they are still working together. Every song Jermaine contributed to MIAM was great. Make It Look Good doesn't sound like anything else they have ever created together. YDKWTD was such a sassy song that mixed classic and new Mariah perfectly. It would have gone number 1 with promo and good performances. Even though Mariah has a couple of producers that she has consistently worked with, namely Jermaine and Big Jim, they have always made great songs together. I also don't understand the comments indicating that she works with the same producers all the time. With every album she always picks a handful of different producers to contribute a song into the mix. Jermaine didn't even get a song on Memoirs, which is so strange, and I've always wished to find out why that didn't happen. I think Mariah and LA Reid are hungry enough again to make another big hit. If they can both play their roles well, (LA, a big push/promotion and Mariah, great songs, vocals, and great performances), it can happen again. She is always one song way from making another hit.
