Mariah's choreography (50,561)

Was someone mentioning this moment? I loved it when she just hopped up and ran. I love how dramatic she can be. It really sucks you in and you feel the song with her.

The Voice / Say Somethin' (50,560)

I love the video too. Paul Hunter always makes great Mariah videos ever since Honey and I love her chemistry with Pharrell. I secretly wanted them to date. The song is disappointing, however, had they released Jermaine's remix of the song and made a video as planned, it would have went number one. You cannot tell me that Mariah is not singing her butt off on that remix. I love it. Plus, they released FLAB and it was doing better than SS. If they weren't going to support SS they should have released Mine Again during that spring, it would have done well.

Trey Lorenz / Billy from Greece (50,559)

You are right, Trey's album does sound like a lost Mariah album. Trey's Make You Happy. To hear Mariah sing "Baby let me make it happen, take you riding in my caddy, if you want me you can have me, you can even call me daddy. Sweeter than a mutha, make never have another, freak you underneath the covers, I can make you happy. Mariah, you slipped this one underneath Tommy's nose. Lol I can't get enough of the hook."

Commercial album? (50,536)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Norman, great post. I would have to disagree about Mariah needing to release a album full of commercial songs. Sometimes when she tries too hard to be commercial, the soul gets sucked out of the songs and the melodies can be bland. TEOM was not a commercial album. It is mostly a late seventies soul themed album, sprinkled with handful of spunky contemporary r&b songs that so happened to be chosen as the singles. E=MC2 was her most commercial album of the "new Mariah" eras, it even had the super commercial (yet bland) Bye Bye as a second single. One of the biggest problems with Def Jam is that they do not know how to market her. They went with TTR and made her wear her hair curly to try to call up nostalgia from radio listeners but it didn't work. You Know You Got Me should have went first. During a time where hip hop/r&b collabos were at their peak, a trend she popularized. They almost slipped up with TEOM had they released SS first. Even with all the sucess it didn't do well when it was released. Then she follows suit and since TEOM, album after album, she has decreased the amount of promotion she has done, to where it has become non-existent. I Stay In Love should have been second, when she did release it, she didn't promote it. FTR? Another lost opportunity. Angels Cry, It's A Wrap? Even when they finally released YDKWTD there was no promotion. When I play the last album, everyone says the same thing, "She released an album?" "This is really good."

Trey Lorenz - Always In Love (50,535)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Has anyone listened to his debut album? Its really good. Walter and Mariah did a really good job collaborating with him. I have to say my favorite song of his is Always In Love. The outro is so enchanting. From 3:55 you hear Mariah at her best, giving hypnotic backgrounds. Why doesn't he perform any of these songs on tour? Please take a listen and let me know what you think.

Since Mariah is covering gospel songs, I would love for her to cover Angie & Debbie Winans' Light Of Love. They say Whitney is singing backgrounds on this song. Take a listen.

Yes you are absolutely right. It's been so long since I heard that interview. Wasn't a really good interview. Wendy asked all the questions everyone wanted to know and Mariah was quite candid and handled Wendy well. It's too bad they pulled it from YouTube.

Disenchanted / Breakfast Club interview (50,464)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
If Mariah appeared disinterested and blase during that interview is because she was fighting with Nick, her label, and isn't really a morning person. Do you all remember the video footage playing in the background of her BET Honors performance of You're Mine? That was supposed to be part of the original video but Nick was jealous of Mariah having a handsome male lead. He even randomly appeared at the video shoot the day Trey Songz was shooting his part. You notice they never have a scene together. Everything was going wrong in her personal and professional life. It makes sense that during that era, she seemed like she either wasn't interested or not taking the interview seriously. I believe she used the splashes to help her cope and forget about her issues. I believe she will get through this and deliver again.

My All (50,449)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Loving that this song has become a topic on the board. It's the ballad I most often go to when it comes to her discography. Her soft vocals fit the song as her vocals continue to build with each chorus until she goes all out. Its predecessors such as After Tonight and I Only Wanted were nice, but lacked the magic My All has. Speaking of My All, there are two male singers that I've witnessed perform great covers of this song. One is from Afgan, I don't know him but I love how he starts off the second verse. I love Alex Serra's cover as well, he changed the arrangement and I loved it. It's funny because it seems that male vocalists do a better job interpreting her songs then female singers since they usually try to mimic her every phrase and fail. Please watch and let me know what you think.

Red carpet appearances (50,448)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah already addressed this on a Wendy Williams interview in 2003. Wendy told her that she noticed that Mariah purposely isn't on every carpet. Mariah had said something to the effect that she isn't interested in making an appearance at every event. I agree with her thought process because if you do not have anything to promote, then why are you there other than to get into the magazines for what you are wearing? It doesn't benefit her at this point until it's time to promote the next project.

Shelly, that prayer you posted is awesome. It covers everything. I need to get a copy of that prayer book. We can pray for her on Sunday. You know what they say, as long as there are two or three gathered in his name he is there. Mara, thank you for your kind words. I also enjoy your posts and point of view. It is great to see fans get together for something positive.

My All cover in Spanish (50,258)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
This is an old cover of Mariah's My All by a Bachata group and they do an amazing job singing the song in Spanish. The original translation didn't really work, but this one is great. Instead of attempting to match Mariah's every note, the lead singer sings it his own way and makes a great cover, which artists usually never accomplish covering her work. There is also an English version as well.

Prayers for Mariah (50,256)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
It has been forever since I've posted. But I've been meaning to ask other lambs if they want to join in on praying for Mariah. For those interested, maybe we can all pick a day. After seeing how she appeared under the influence and emotional pain while singing ABMB in Jamaica, I knew our girl's life could be in trouble. If being in this business is becoming to much for her to where her life is in danger, I would rather her "leave it all behind" and focus on her health and her family. She has given us so many songs, I feel spoiled at times. Since she has the upcoming Vegas and new 1's reissue, we know she won't have much time to herself to heal, but with prayer, anything is possible. God Bless.

Jamaica performance (49,601)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I could care less what she was wearing or how her hair looked. It's really not important in the grand scheme of things and that isn't what everyone was complaining about. I actually liked what she wore, minus that glove. It all boils down to her vocals. The Fantasy performance was plain lazy and I do not understand why she insists on lip synching. Her improvised versions sounded great, her voice was a little deeper, darker, more soulful than it's sounded in years, and then she decides to let the now very obvious back track take over the climaxes of every song. Why not improve that as well? If you can't hit the F5s in Always Be My Baby, change it. I'm tired of her lipping that part, it's always cringe worthy to watch. I loved what she did with WBT until she walked off the stage and decided to let the pre-recorded vocals do the rest. She seemed intoxicated while singing ABMB at the 2:40 mark. That was the face of being under the influence and possibly a heartbreak because he isn't coming back. I need her to sing, the whole song, live. If she continues her lip synching, her career will end in Vegas and the 1's album will flop.

Jazz/Hip Hop album (49,463)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I'm still dead set on her releasing a Jazz/Hip Hop album. No one has hopped on this blended genre yet. It would be brilliant of her to be able to make songs that sound more timeless while still staying current enough to chart. Here is one song that I would love for her to sample the melody and maybe add a little more bass. Let me know what you think.

Sing live and sing well (49,313)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I'm so excited for this new project. People have mentioned that she needs to change her look, her sound, her personality, but I firmly believe that those things are all secondary and not what will make or break her career. It all boils down to her voice. She needs to sing live again, and sing well. Remind people why we fell in love with her in the first place. Last year we saw her voice in the worst condition it had ever been, her ducking and dodging the high belts in her songs became more apparent and audio mishaps start to become more common and exposed this. I for one, was glad that the "isolated vocals" on the Christmas performance were put out there. I believe it lit a fire under her and she new that she had to bring it and prove that she could still sing outside the studio. Everyone that attended the Christmas performances, even fans that no longer believed she could sing said that even though she lipped, the live vocals in the show were very impressive. I was also shocked to see her belt and sound like 96. If she sings live and sings well, has great material and good promo, we will see her on top again.

The Elusive Chanteuse Show revenue (48,476)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Does anyone know how much this tour grossed? I would think that Mariah made a pretty penny off of this tour. While other artists spend an arm and a leg on production, elaborate sets, and costly performance numbers, Mariah keeps it simple. It just shows her genius as a business woman. Instead of spending all this money on distractions, she keeps the focus on her voice, whether it's in good or bad shape and pockets the rest. She doesn't need a lot of stage hands and basically just has a band, some back up dancers, and jumbo screens. At first I thought it was a bad idea for her to go on tour, but I'm glad she did. She got to work on her voice and stage presence again and visited places she has never been. I'm sure her fans in those venues loved it.

Baby / Benny Medina manager idea (48,475)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Thanks Baby for the welcome back. It's great that we can all rally for Mariah. After seeing worst performances from Japan to her slowly but surely get better after every show, she had performing really well and regained like 75% of her voice. Of course she still played it safe but when she did go for the notes, she landed a lot of them. She just had a bad day and was fine in her mid range. At least it was live and rather an honest performance than a lipped one. I was reading your posts and I can say, you are a true Sequoia in the name of Mariah and I love it. Benny Medina as her manager? No way. He was good while the focus was on Mariah's voice and music (Return of The Voice promo) but then started marketing her like JLo in 08 having her plastered all over the tabloids about her quickie marriage when the focus should have been on the solid piece of work that was E=MC2. She had the right music for that era and that should have been pushed the most. JLo's music isn't doing well either and sold less than Mariah this year with all that promo so I don't believe Benny is the right manager for her.

So I haven't had internet in over a month and I come back to the board and it's a totally different board today and I must say I like it. From Baby's well thought out defense posts for Mariah, to possible love connections and lambs linking up on other social media outside of MCA, it's great to read.

Mariah goes Country, Nikki (48,456)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
Nikki, I loved your post. That's one of Mariah's best covers ever. Shame it wasn't on one of her albums. I prefer it to other covers on her recent albums. I love how she put some twang in her voice and she sounded so authentic. I thought I had vocally heard the scope of Mariah's voice and when I heard this, I was shocked. I'm like, she needs to make a country album now. Why was this not on country radio or given a single treatment? Jermaine even said that Mariah has so many layers to her vocally that we haven't heard. I would love to hear more of the rare and out of the ordinary from her, it's like hearing her sing for the first time again.

#Beautiful feat Trey Lorenz (47,769)

Did anyone see this clip? I had no idea she sang #Beautiful with Trey. He sounds so good on the song. Mariah, why don't you have Trey sing this song with you? Don't get me wrong, I love I'll Be There, but a change up in the setlist to have Trey sing #Beautiful with you while on tour I think is a great idea.

MiTodoChop / Mimi L. (47,768)
by 123 from USA
| |

You're welcome ladies. MiTodoChop, wasn't the audio awesome? She sang half of Cry live, gave an even better rendition of Lullaby Of Birdland, and revamped I'm That Chick. She has had a lot of good performances, but I'm waiting for the below clip to happen, where she kills it and gives you some effortless belts, which are her bread and butter. I know its coming soon. I also want her to sing a full version of either Can't Let Go or Love Takes Time, but only when she is in good voice. Wish she would have done it on this night.
