I personally don't think so. Andrew made great points even though his delivery wasn't the best sometimes. As much as the "Tell Her" queens want to celebrate, this message-board won't ever be the same without Andrew. I think Mariah needs more honest people in her life, since the "Yasss Queen" people she had surrounded herself with didn't see anything negative about Stella. Mariah needs a few people like Andrew in her life, with a less aggressive delivery, of course. Many of the posters here would see Mariah walking naked on the street and tell her: "Queen, you look fabulous."

It's always good to know the other side of things. Remember that the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. There's Mariah's truth, his truth and the truth. I read Tommy's book, also read Damizza's book, and there are many things and insights about Mariah's life back then I wouldn't have known if they hadn't spoken about them, especially when Damizza talks about how obsessed Tommy was with Mariah after they divorced and how he kind of wanted to recruit Damizza to keep him informed about her every move to what he declined. I think Walter has diarrhea of the mouth though, he is definitely talking too much, and by inaccurately talking about things that are evidently not true (Mariah made up emblazoned, and that she wrote the song when she was 12) his credibility is questionable. He should just let it go and stop pretending he somehow knows what's best for Mariah. There's also some obvious truth to what he says and it has been discussed here before. Mariah wouldn't be here had she kept on the ballad-only route, but she evolved and here she is still swimming to stay afloat in an ageist industry. When Mariah transitioned incorporating more Hip Hop and R&B, the one thing she never stopped doing was writing great lyrics, but that's not the case now. "Caution" is a good album, but her lyrics are not up to part to anything she's done before, and I'm not talking about ballads. Let's say "Breakdown", that was genius. "Clown" also genius lyrically. So, to write great lyrics you don't have to be locked in one genre and she's proved that.

You're spot on. There wasn't anything gimmicky about Minnie. She must be turning in her grave. That comment irritated me but then I considered the source. A good lamb should know not to use lipsync/guimmicks against other artist to put Mariah in a pedestal without risking opening Pandoras Box.

"Edward I sincerely doubt you know how to stream, your generation is just too elderly now." Who said that, a wannabe shady bitch? You definitely didn't pass Mariah's "Shady Class". I've been using a computer since I was 5 and I'm not 40 yet, streaming is the most basic of things, at least to me. I'm happy not to be part of your generation, look at the charts and music scene and see how your awesome Kardashian generation is supporting and producing talents like Mariah, they're so full of depth.

The song doesn't sound like anything Mariah would do. As for the whistle register, Mariah doesn't own it. Minnie Riperton and many others have used it before her.

And your name is? Who the "beep" do you think you are to blame lambs for Mariah's failure? Oh, I know who you are, the one who said on post (69,096) "Mariah's World is everything: Wow wow wow. This show was beyond anything I could have imagine, it was so great. I loved the Stella moments so much, I truly do respect her much more than I did. The Bianca moment was hysterical." We suck at streaming? What about she sucks at producing anything worth streaming in the past few years. What about the fact that Mariah's fan base has shrunk to a point where even buying multiple copies or streaming every day we cannot even get a video to 5 million views in two months? What about the fact that Mariah rarely puts out any music and due to people attention span they forget anything quick and they don't seem to be willing to wait for years and years when the options out there are endless? Lambs alone are not responsible for Mariah's success or failure, but the general public that used to connect to her and her music, those are the ones who are getting AIWFCIY to higher chart positions, not the lambs. You seem to live in La La Land. If you jump off a cliff trying to fly with an umbrella, you'll see how you break your Mary Poppins' behind. Even though we complain, most of us here are still very dedicated to Mariah's music, as in buying, following, going to concerts and supporting her in general. I got "Caution" twice because I wanted the Japan edition too, but there are others who got multiple copies of the album. What you see is a reflection of what's left of her fan base since it seems to be we're the only ones who care about her music nowadays.

Re: Caution drops to #163 on Billboard 200 albums chart (87,011) (87,016)

Here we go again blaming everybody for Mariah's commercial flops. When will we stop blaming everybody and realize that Mariah is not popular anymore when it comes to her music, and that it doesn't matter if the album is great or when it was released. Of course they knew there was a chance Mariah's Christmas music would cannibalize Caution's sales, but I think it was a great move since nobody is focusing on the flop at the moment because Mariah is riding high on her Christmas success, and with a potential new top 5. In the current music scene you can't just disappear for four years and expect people to remember you when you come back, it hasn't worked like that in ages. Caution is a good album in my opinion, but what she's known for, her big voice, it's basically non-existent on this album, not even on some songs. Since that live feed was leaked from that performance of AIWFCIY, the reign of Stella, and her New Year's lipping fail, she's lost much of the respect people had for her as a vocalist and that shows greatly with the reception of this great album. I suggest some of you focus on the music, enjoy, and stop blaming those who have given Mariah the best public perception she's had in many many years, it's not their fault she's flopping commercially. She hired Stella, she went through with Mariah's World, she was the one shading people and acting as if she was better than anybody else, now it's going to take time and work for her to recover some of what she lost. If Mariah takes another four year break with the way her voice keep deteriorating, she'll be selling 10K copies next time. Mariah needs to be in the spotlight again for her music not for her boobs and crazy diva persona.

I agree with you 100%. The fact that Ariana's singing career started like many new artists, on YouTube, and that she covered a few of Mariah's songs, including the very difficult Emotions and AIWFCIY, made it even worse for the media to let it go. Since then she's done music trying to find her own voice and style. Ariana could be Mariah's daughter, and I thought Mariah would acknowledge her differently, but she's never shown the girl any love, so why should Ariana keep kissing her ass citing her as a huge influence? As for Ariana's music, well, her music doesn't do for me what Mariah's does, but I enjoyed "Yours Truly" and a few songs from "Dangerous Woman". Mariah coming from the struggle and a dysfunctional family, having an exceptional voice and having the ability to put her life experiences into great lyrics set her apart from Whitney, Celine and the rest. It seems to be though that singers/lyricists like Mariah, Alanis Morissette and late Dolores O'Riordan produced their best work when they were struggling with life in general or unhappy. Mariah is definitely an anomaly in the music industry. Some sing, some write, some produce, but Mariah's done them all exceptionally without even trying hard.

Dear Brandon, either you're blind or you are still using a flip phone. Which one is it? GTFO and WY have videos as expensive as the record breaking views they have accumulated since they were released. I like both songs, but child please.

Most of those folks who are buying "Merry Christmas" are not her fans. They're buying great Christmas music which happens to be Mariah's. That's why the general public is imperative for an album to be commercially successful, unless you have a huge fan base, but sadly Mariah is not popular anymore when it comes to her music, and it is perfectly ok, nobody stays at the top forever. To be honest, this is the first time I haven't felt disappointed because a Mariah album is not doing as we expected commercially, but it's doing so critically, which is more important at this stage in her career. I was watching Ariana's new video and how it broke the record for most views in 24 hours, 54.5 million, and now it has 114 million views in 4 days. I wanted to hate on her, but then I saw a young Mariah in her trying to make it when she was being compared to others, when they said she lacked emotion in her voice. Yes, Mariah has less than 5 million views for low budget video for "With You", but that doesn't make it a bad song or less than some of the most viewed ones. It's good to note that Ariana brings in the money and she has big budgets for her videos just like Mariah when she was popular. I actually think it's liberating not to be checking the charts with anxiety, I'm just letting the music do the talking, for me.

Caution (86,858)
by Edward from USA
| |
|

Caution is short and sweet with the vocals of Mariah O' the Day, of course. I have the feeling she'll go all out on her next album, hopefully next year. As for considering "Caution" better than "Charmbracelet", if I were to choose based on lyrics, creativity and art overall, I would take "Charmbracelet" over "Caution" any day. Mariah pen game on "Charmbracelet" is great, still poetic and meaninful.

You're right. "The Angel Cut and Paste" was the only project announced that never saw the light of day. I'm happy it was shelved. That would've been a stain in her recording career.

Stop trying to make "signature sound" happen. It's not going to happen. You should be punished by listening to "What You Mad" for the rest of the day, but that would definitely kill you.

We all know that if Mariah had writen even a "la la la" on "Almost Home", she wouldn't have said the words "whoever wrote it". It's obvious she was given the song to sing and she went along with it. Of course, had it turned into another "Without You" or "When You Believe" she would be singing a different tune. I think she should've ziped her lips on that one. She should comment on the genius of Crapfinity, its remix and Infamous instead. Arrogant much.
