Caution is probably better than TEOM (106,587) by Zachariah from Croatia I have to disagree. Only half of that album is very good and that half carried the sale and success despite the other half. The half that was good: It's like that, We belong together, Shake it off, Say something, Get your number, Don't forget about us and Fly like a bird (but only live version). Makin' It Last All Night from the Platinum edition - also very very good. The other half - boring and rushed. Butterfly album on the other hand - every song is a masterpiece. Caution is probably better than TEOM (106,581) by Terna from Nigeria Um no Sir, just no. The Emancipation Of Mimi was more than just a massive [era], that album literally saved Mariah from being a relic from the 90's, especially after the way her image, reputation and public perception had been dragged through the mud and negatively, intentionally altered by the media, since they held the narrative back then. Basically what they tried so hard to insinuate was that Mariah Carey was now a clown, not to be taken seriously at all. Smh. Until she was not, she deliberately took that narrative back and forced that respect, whether they liked it or not. She needed a monster hit not just a very good song but an undeniable classic, and that's exactly what "We Belong Together" was - a miracle and the kind of magic most artists don't achieve in their careers. This album out of all her other albums is in a lane of its own, and is also a crossing over from Icon to [legendary] status for her. "Caution" is Mariah resting pretty on her laurels safe, secure, untouchable and respected of course, with nothing more to prove. "The Emancipation of Mimi" make no mistake is the main reason for this. (Sunday 2 June 2024; 15:15)

Myself, I am looking forward to There For Me to be officially released for streaming. It is such an amazing song, worthy of many people's wedding song from what I've read online. At this point I don't know if it belongs in the Rainbow album or the Glitter soundtrack, but whatever, irregardless, it is a fantastic song and the vocal prowess it took to deliver those notes leave me weak at the knees sometimes. I actually love how her voice changed - it gives me chameleon vibes, adaptable to all styles and different eras. She was always a master of remixes. Thank you for this girl. Look what happened to Justin and J.Lo - people are sick of "old" stars, especially if the material is just bad and boring and not current. Mariah keeps pushing r'n'b sound which has its public but people these days want fast tempo and those Dua Lipa dance light tunes etc etc. So, either she will put an amazing album which is going to be work of art (right catchy singles, amazing videos) or she is going to swallow her pride and adapt to new trends. Taylor (106,301) by Zachariah from Croatia Taylor's "cultural impact and craze" on the music industry today is exactly because of that, because she exists today, where social media, marketing manipulations and bombardment with feuds with exes and writing about them is highly accessible. If she started her career when Mariah started, she would be nowhere. Non existent. Mediocre singer with writing abilities only if she is in a team with 15 more people who are co writing the song. Taylor (106,297) by Tevin from USA Hi Tony, I'm going to assume that you were responding to my post. First of all, I never said Taylor and Mariah were in the same league, especially vocally. I said that they are both known for their song writing, which is true. Second unless someone is living under a rock, there is no denying (whether a person likes it or not) the cultural impact and craze that Taylor has on the music industry today. The only one close to having her impact is Adele, but due to vocal issues, she's been MIA. Third you may not be a fan of Taylor, I'd even admit that I'm not a fan of her last few albums, but there is no denying that some of her early work (especially the country music, not pop) was quality work, and like Mariah, she has been able to have major success in different music genres. It may not be your cup of tea, but just like some people didn't or don't like Mariah's music (which I personally think they are crazy for not liking) that doesn't mean that Mariah or her career is trash and the same applies to Taylor. Anyway I'm done talking about Taylor now, since this is a Mariah board, but we shouldn't trash or minimize other people's work, or achievements, just to put Mariah on a pedestal. If she would find songwriting partners like Madicin (Kenny Lattimore) or Daryl Simmons (Never Forget You) and write some R&B slow jams and love songs, then she would get back on top of the charts. So if you see this video containing the whole concert from that perspective, you would think that there could be some lipping, but the rest would be mainly live. But if you see all the Mariah videos from the first concert uploaded 7/8 days ago on this channel, you truly can see the real thing happening, that is, she's lipping everything except for 5 specific moments throughout the entire concert. The recordings are so zoomed-in that it is so evident. Besides, sometimes she skips phrases, she starts miming two seconds later or she's just too lazy to pretend to be making an effort on the belting parts. As I said before, at least, we have new high-quality recordings of most of the songs. To be honest, I became aware of the lipping thing (you know, the lipped parts of some songs) back in 2008. At that moment and after analyzing so many performances, I realized that she had been doing it from 1997 (the belted section of Honey at Top of the Pops, for example). It was a total and complete letdown, and I took my time to process it. I'm a huge fan and I'll always be. I'll keep following her forever. For sure, she uses lipping for whatever reasons, some of them have been explained or theorized here and I can agree with them, but it is a fact. I am confused - she sounds so good, why would she lip? It is getting tiring to read constant dissertations about her voice here.
