I'm glad he came forward and defended the mother of his children from the slanderous comments released by the press. Whether any of it is true or not, it should remain private for everyone affected.

Mariah Carey - Care Enough Charmbracelet outake (46,384) by 123 from USA

Have any of you heard this video? It's posted by a producer whom I assume submitted this track for Mariah. The last 20 seconds is a crackly audio of who it sounds like Mariah singing. It actually sounds great and would have fit perfectly in Charmbracelet. If this is legit, I wonder why it was left out.

Mimi L. I agree with you and so do many of the other fans here. I know it is hard because we were told that there was a plan and we would know the truth very soon but unfortunately I do not believe that is going to happen. Usually if a project fails, Mariah will abandon it and instead just start from scratch and create something new. The great thing about her is that she loves to create and she seems to already be cooking up something. We won't hear anything until she is ready to release details about her next move. I hope she does get a new deal and she puts a clause in her contract where she has control of how her album is released to the masses. There are reports that more labels are considering worldwide digital releases, but they won't start testing the waters until later this year early next year. I would rather she get a deal like Madonna and go to Live Nation and use a label solely for distribution of physical copies. Mariah wants complete control, she has fought for record companies to listen to her before, especially during the infancy of the digital era, they didn't listen and look at where they are at now. Hopefully she can finally get to realize her vision and start communicating with the fans more about what we should or shouldn't be expecting.

Nevermind that you don't get that this is a Mariah board, you didn't get anything that I wrote. Whether we are upset at her absence promotion wise or just ecstatic that she finally released the album, most of us here have something in common, we are loyal to Mariah. I would rather discuss someone who you think is less talented (Rihanna) who doesn't disrespect or steal from Mariah then someone who does and be ok with it, only because in your opinion they are more talented. Talent doesn't equate respect. It is illegal to steal someone else's music, listen to Never Forget You and Almost Is Never Enough and tell me it is not the same song. You don't hear Mariah or her team saying disrespectful comments about Ariana but Ariana's manager wants to throw Mariah's name to promote Ariana and say she is the new Mariah and add "yeah I said it" after the comment, so that he can affirm that he doesn't care how it comes across. Her music is forgettable and there is nothing remarkable about her voice. There are plenty of singers that can sing her under a table. If you want to be a fan of her so be it, but don't come here discuss how great she is and expect everyone else to agree.

Mariah wanted to pull a similar marketing strategy to Beyonce but got the plug pulled by the label. Beyonce has not promoted the album at all, sans the Grammy performance, hardly done interviews, and has rode the wave of shock that the release caused to have multiple successful tours. Mariah was hoping that by dropping the album all at once digitally would cause a stir and that the music would carry it's success. Unlike the Beyonce album, Mariah's was full of great songs from beginning to end. Unfortunately, the poor roll out and the label publically announcing the following day her Billboard interview was released that they would not be following her wishes was a big embarrassing blow. It's sad that she just dumped the project instead of working hard and clawing her way back to the top. Same thing happened with E=MC2 and MAOIA. They both had great songs but she didn't promote and the label chose the wrong singles. They though the shock of her shot gun wedding (Benny's idea, marketing her like JLo which failed), and her response to Eminem would be enough to build interest. The public doesn't have enough of an interest in her love life to make a career out of it, JLo, nor do they care about her beefing, Eminem to cause excitement. The public wants classic songs with great singing/live performances. That's what made her special and what made her famous. She needs to go back to that. She has the songs and vocals. but she needs to promote by singing live.

Mariah tour (46,071) by 123 from USA
I'm glad she is touring somewhere with these new songs. I would love to see them performed live. I've seen her twice, once during the Adventures Tour in an arena and then gain during the MOAIA on Valentine's Day at the Chicago Theater. She will give you a mixture of performances, from fully lipped (Angel's Cry), to live except the high belts (It's A Wrap), to complete live versions of her classics (she came bursting through the doors sanging the bridge of Make It Happen live, with a vengeance, what vocal decline?). I enjoyed it and Asian fans, if you can go, make it happen. It's a real treat to see a legend in action.

The copycat vs. real singers (46,070) by 123 from USA
I'm just shocked that an artist who has dissed Mariah and used her name to gain fame instead of her supposed talent is getting love on this board. When their manager tweets she is "the new Mariah Carey yeah I said it", her producers admit to going for the Mariah sound, even calling Walter to get that "Mariah sound". Never Forget You is ripped off in the form of Almost Is Never Enough, and when asked, she says her inspirations are Madonna and India Arie, yet your singing style is all Mariah and your YouTube videos are filled with Mariah songs, you get no love from me. Mariah praised Candace Glover and her cover of "Love Song" craps on anything the copycat has sung. Her performance is soul, it's emotion, it pulls you into a trance and you don't want to wake from.

JD gone (45,837) by 123 from USA
So no sooner than I post that Mariah wasn't going to have JD as her manager for very much longer, it gets confirmed. I wondered why Kevin Liles was with her when she went to the Hercules premiere. He appeared more like a handler than one of her guests.

You are more than likely right, I'm probably reading too much into it. I didn't mean to offend about the comment about her dress and agree with your view on how the entertainment industry expects everyone to be stick thin. I believe either extreme is not healthy.

Mariah / JD WMA (45,829) by 123 from USA
You can cut the tension between these two with a knife while they were both on stage together. Remember that the show was delayed because she was late and didn't get to air on time because of it. I wonder what the conversation was like between these two regarding that. JD pointed to dem babies in the crowd in the middle of her speech and Mariah quickly dismissed the changing of the shot during her speech. I don't believe he will be her manager much longer, and it's too bad because he didn't seem to be able to implement any of his suggestions. Before people just on me by saying he isn't experienced, JD did say that he suggested a lot of things that Mariah decided not to listen to. He wanted her to perform on Letterman, she opted for just an interview. He hinted that he can only suggest but that he has to respect the artist decision on how they want to market their record. This leads me to believe that Mariah wanted full control of how this record was to be launched and just wanted her staff and the label execute it. When the label disagreed with her direction and publically announced it, it might have led to issues with management if they had a different marketing strategy in mind than she did. I know people want Medina back but he was there for E=MC2 and we know what happened to that era once the cd was released, she disappeared/no promotion until late Summer. By then it was too late, the record had lost momentum and they couldn't decide on a single.

WMA / Meteorite performance (45,828) by 123 from USA
The acceptance speech was off the cuff, kinda wish she had something prepared but I like this one as it makes her more human and sincere. The dress was not flattering for her and I was shocked that she was able to drop some of the weight that quickly to slip in that thing. I really liked the performance dress, it was the right amount of sexy and looked good on her. The performance was ok, I was shocked she performed Meteorite as she had little time to prepare with attempting to finish the album. With such little time I wish she would have sang a ballad (mostly) live. Just to remind everyone why she is getting the Icon Award. She lipped the first two thirds of the song, but she did sing the last third of the song live with a backing vocal track. This is why you hear two Mariah's at the latter part of the song.

Positive/negative comments / mystery era (45,827) by 123 from USA
Just my opinion, but even though I get urked by certain individuals sounding negative all the time, I believe that most of it stems from what hasn't been happening this era. We are used to Mariah doing at least some promotion. Even though she really didn't promote her last two cds in comparison to TEOM. It's obvious she won't promote but we don't know the reason, which leads to the next reason. The second reason would be the lack of information/silence from Mariah herself. She has purposely kept us in the dark and I do not believe it is because she has become lazy or no longer cares about her fans. We get hints here and there, issues with Def Jam on the marketing/treatment of the record, her marriage, her injuries [censored]. These reasons only intensify other ongoing issues that some may or may not have such as lip synching, her wardrobe, her interviews, her marketing strategy or lack there of, etc. I'm glad she is touring, it gives us something to look forward and helps change the topic of what isn't going on and change the tone of this board. BTW, it is good to see new folks on the board, Shelly, Abraham, I like the energy you two bring. Just my two cents.

New album or re-release? (45,632) by 123 from USA
So Mariah just posted a pic from the Bahamas just having worked with Big Jim Wright. New music seems to be on the way, but I'm wondering will it be a re-release or a new album. Her hinting towards a tour makes me believe it might be a re-release but her silence towards the current project and single might suggest differently. What does everyone else think?

MariahCarey.com (45,442) by 123 from USA
Her website has been updated. At the bottom of the page it says Mariah Carey is the trademark of Lotion LLC. She usually uses phrases to cover up something like using the code name "Candy Cane" when involved with a song she doesn't have permission from the label to work on. In the Privacy Policy it says Live Nation Privacy Party? I see no mention of Island Def Jam. If a project is failing, she ends up dumping it and moving on to the next like the last couple albums so we can forget anything more out of MIAMTEC. I have a feeling she might have signed to another label or a similar Madonna-esque deal with Live Nation which only uses a record label as the distributor of the content. So if she has new songs, she is more than likely already working on the next album and will probably drop the album, details of the new deal, etc all the same time. Unfortunately I have a feeling it will be a while before we hear anything more with a few scrapes of clues sprinkled here and there.

Availability (44,680) by 123 from USA
When it is easier to get a hold of her soft drink then her Target exclusive deluxe version that is a problem. I heard UMG purposely under shipped the album so even if she did promote there wouldn't be enough copies, not that it is an excuse not to, if people know about it and demand it the label will have to supply it. Most Targets that I went to in Chicago didn't have the deluxe anymore or didn't even have the CD. I finally found one that had several of the deluxe copies but none were the Target exclusive versions (with the alternate cover and America The Beautiful). If the label is doing you dirty, then promote the album and if there is a lack of copies, it will only out their shady agenda. Ugh. Still love the album and I still want to hear the song that was played on the Barbara Walters special (Not Bring It On Home), so jazzy sounding track that I need in my life.

Bonus tracks (44,679) by 123 from USA
Love them. At first, I hated the cut and paste situation, especially because they didn't even try to make it sound like one recording, but I love Mary and R Kelly's efforts on the tracks. Both of them sounded like they were giving their all in their performance and seemed happy to finally be on a track with her. Mary sounds great and R Kelly is really singing. These tracks fit perfectly on the album and I'm glad we got to hear them. I can take or leave TAOLG, I prefer America the Beautiful. Got both the deluxe and original versions but I can't find the Target exclusive version anywhere (the Japanese version). I might have to order one online, especially if the lyrics are included on that one. Anyone know how and how much they are going for?

Album situation (44,678) by 123 from USA
Is she boycotting promoting her own product to get back at the label? Why has she continued to keep quiet? It was understandable before releasing the album as I though she wanted to keep details under wraps so that her surprises wouldn't be spoiled but this is a mess. It's weird because Steve Bartels accompanied her to the Fresh Air Fund event and stated they would released YDKWTD as the next single and a choreographer posted a pic stating rehearsals for YDKWTD video. Idk if she feels that since she was able to fight Columbia and her ex husband and make it out alive that she can do the same with Def Jam but at what cost? Her health took a major toll last time. I would rather she just promote the album if she can't talk about it yet and then speak on it later. Don't get me wrong, I'm still happy that we got a great album, but I aint buying your sugar water Mariah, I'm not happy with you right now. Hopefully she explains what is going on soon, because I can't take it anymore (plays YDKWTD).

Track by track (44,056) by 123 from USA
Cry - Loved the vocal climax at the end. The way she sang "Maybe I shoulda held on a little bit longer, but I was seduced by you." The power, the rasp, and emphasis on the word "by" is what soul singing is all about. You feel that line.
Faded - My favorite ballad, very current and bass heavy, yet the lyrics are deep and the big vocals at the end with the multitude of Mariah's.
Dedicated - Love this laid back track, and James Fauntleroy's backgrounds.
Thirsty - Nice club song, still doesn't beat ILT.
Make It Look Good - I wanted an old school track and I got it.
Don't Know What To Do - Top notch, from the intro (minus Wale), the lyrics, the singing, and the beat. JD has been vindicated.
Supernatural - The vocals when she raises the key at the end are so good. One of my favs.
Meteorite - Hasn't had a song like this as an album track that wasn't a reprise or a remix. Experimental with a message for those here today gone tomorrow Meteorites. Madonna inspired, they need to duet this since they are both legends.
Camouflage - The lyrics are very deep and give us a peak into Mariah's heart and soul in 2014 much like Looking In, Outside, and Petals.
Money - The most experimental, it starts off with a smooth sung melodic verse, to a rap sung spare hook, to Fabs rap, to her ending the song with jazzy styled vocals.
OMT - Too pretty sounding, I wish she used more soul on this one, and her vocals sound way to high at the end.
Heavenly - Wished she would have wrote an original gospel number.

Me, I am Mariah, The Elusive Chanteuse (43,987) by 123 from USA
I didn't know what to think of it at first, I had to digest the new sounds that were coming at me. I knew I had listen to it again. M really experimented with this album. It is a true representation of MC throughout her career. She was really a mad scientist for 5 years constructing every song, removing, adding, and re-arranging. Most of us may not like it at first because we keep listening for the radio friendly hits that MC has always insured each album had. This is the first album in her career where she didn't care about making radio hits and instead put out an album where she is not constrained by the restricted sounds radio/trends make you follow. The lyrics are top notch and every line is well thought out. Now for the singing, did JD hit MC with the singing stick? Mostly sung in her full voice, but ends up managing to touch every register throughout the song. I can tell why she took so long, most songs have an amazing climax specifically tailored and don't sound like any other climax from albums past. She really makes sure that she lets loose by the end of each song. No more whispers and yelps here and there. The new runs weave through every song and all using her current voice. The raspy parts are the best because it traditionally represent emotion in soul/gospel music. Did we forget how it wasn't until the rasp was used on the Make It Happen bridge complete the soul stirring classic. Mature, yet current without sacrificing creativity and innovation.

You Don't Know What To Do (43,693) by 123 from USA
The best song yet. She sang live. I love the smooth mello groove and the full voice vocals. She was singing on this one. I love the sassy lyrics. This needs to be a single yesterday. Did anyone else notice her confidence when performing this one? I haven't seen that in a long time. Now I'm excited. I'm a newly divorcee so this will definitely be my new theme song. Release this now Mariah.

Thirsty (43,533) by 123 from USA
Just what the doctor ordered. I love the beat and the catchy hook. I love the harmonies with the layered vocals. It's a great summer song. Shocked to see people not likening it, considering everyone complained that the borefest Migrate was never released. This is light years better. It is just one song, a club song at that. There won't be a big vocal on it. There is a no rap version were her vocals are a lot clearer, listening to it now. I actually liked the rap feature, unexpected but he fit on the song. Bring on the album.

Head Over Heels (42,643) by 123 from USA
What does everyone think about Allure's Head Over Heels? When I first heard the song I saw the video first and remember thinking how similar it was to Mariah's vibe, then for her to show up at the end of the video and find out they were the first artists on her Crave label and that she wrote the song. I remember reading an interview of the group saying the producer had the beat but they couln't get a good song written. Then Mariah came in and heard the track, took it with her and finished writing the song that day. I'm assuming she helped arrange the song as well. I've always wondered if it was meant to be on Butterfly but she gave it to them. I also wondered how she would sound if she sung it herself. It would be great to hear her sing songs she wrote for other artists such as "Last Chance" or Blaque's "Don't Go Looking For Love" or 7 Mile's "After". It would be great to get an EP of her singing songs she wrote for others. I remember her saying back then that "After" was one of her favorite songs she has ever written.
