I really like this one, I know no comparison to her other [Christmas] songs. But I think it's really fun and I like that "Run Run Rudolph" Rock and Roll vibe. "Christmas time is in the air again" is my favourite right now. So classy and dreamy. "When [Christmas] comes" is another favourite. What are your actual [Christmas] favourites?

Yes I love it too. Just like the video, I loved both immediately. But homehow some people here expected something different by Mariah. I also think it's a typical up-tempo Mariah. They are always great.

I adore [It's like that]. I think it should go at number one and I think it is a typical Mariah upbeat song as a first single of an album, like Honey for Butterfly, like Heartbreaker for Rainbow.

That could be one reason. Plus "Obsessed" is so untypical for a Mariah single. I remember when "It's like that" came out, a lot of friends told me it didn't sound like a Mariah song. With "We belong together" they were fine.

I think usage of auto tune throw people away from loving it to the fullest. Plus the remix with Gucci Mane was just the same song with extra male verse.

Lol I didn't think of it that way. But when I was in the first grade in 91 my teacher had the mentioned ensemble. She was the principal and even as a kid I always noticed her elegant outfit. Anyway the ensemble really suits Mariah. MC the principal.

If Mariah doesn't make it to number one this week I am sure that it will be number one before Christmas. I love Mariah and I love her Christmas song and I hope it hits number one before Christmas. Brenda's song is nice too. If they can share for instance one be number one one week and then the other the next it doesn't take anything away from Mariah. She can't be number one forever. And I realize that. Here's to Mariah and Brenda.

I have seen so many versions of "If it's over", maybe I have it on my laptop. But I'm too lazy to check it. The background of the performance and the video somehow seemed "new" to me, so it's okay if you're all shocked. But I remember East 17 with "Stay another day" and "It's alright" they were huge in the good old Bundesrepublik Deutschland too. The good 90ies, I miss them. They were so much better compared to today not only chartwise. And we could go carefree to Christmas markets, I'm depressed because what's going on here since 2015. I'll stop it here and say something nice. It's snowing right now. It looks like a winter wonderland. I saw the new video with Brenda in a morning show. It was nice. Mariah and Brenda could do a Rockabilly Christmas song together. Would be fun. We have a Justin Bieber version, why not something with Brenda Lee?

Rockin' Around (104,381)
by Andrew from the UK

Yuh-huh. "Rockin Around the Christmes Tree" I might call a "cute little ditty". I know it from Home Alone and wasn't exactly enthralled by it then. It's no "I Love Sausage Rolls". Doesn't even come close to that masterpiece.
Thought it might be fun for non-Brits to watch the video for "Stay Another Day" by East 17: this is the song that, 29 years ago, kept Mariah from being the UK Christmas No.1 (I cried). Check out the masterpiece music video. Considering it's a song about suicide, again "I Love Sausage Rolls" it isn't. Which ought to feature a warning that it might make you want to commit suicide.
MusicFanJ is given a free pass for the (shocking) oversight of never having seen Mariah sing "If It's Over" at the Grammys, for, I believe, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" also reached Number 2 at Christmas in 1994 in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Y'know, back when charts were quite simple and meant something and not full of ridiculous calculations that you'd need a doctorate to understand win an entire album of tracks from one artist comprising an entire top 10.
I'd feel old saying that. But I still look young and beautiful.

I have a huge Stevie collection too. I started to listen because he's Mariah's favourite. His number ones are often played on the radio, so I knew I liked his music. "That girl" and Mariah, that's cool. By the way great topic. I also own the movies "Pretty in Pink" and "Mean Girls" because of Mariah. Plus I have many things about New York and books. This year I even have an NY advent calendar (gift from a friend). One more thing, I also have great admiration for Marilyn Monroe. And I bought Tupacs best of CD, because Mariah is a "fan".

Hi Tevin, thanks for your suggested songs by Taylor. I liked them all but "Dear John" is my favourite. I always say I want a jazz album by Mariah which I still do. Dear John, Back to December and Enchanted are three beautiful songs from Taylor's album Speak Now. Give them a listen. Her natural alto voice is shining through more when she speaks. Her voice reminds me of her 90s interviews. I think that a vocal coach or Mary Ann told her to limit her intake of alcohol this summer and see how your vocal range returns. It was evidence on most of Caution. I am anticipating that we will get more of her alto range with heavier tones and less belting on the new album.

As much as I hate to say it, Taylor Swift's songs don't just chart one week and out the other, she has a massive fanbase. In some places they're camping outside Arenas six months in advance just to be closer to the stage. She's definitely had the Midas touch for quite sometime now. I don't know the lyrics to any of her songs. I tried listening to her last album but I didn't feel a connection. I wish her well though. Her relatable persona definitely helps her a lot. The woman is the biggest thing right now yet she doesn't acts as if she believes her own hype.

If it's true, that's tough stuff. In my heart I always hope the best, but I often get dissapointed by people. That's a reason I stay away from superficial ones. Down to earth people never hurt me. But with Bryan a lot of you never trusted him. I just thought Mariah was happy with him. It's really sad if they broke up. The "superlove". Mariah deserves a real partner who loves her the human. As always beautiful written Mara. You described it so well with the "auto pilot". I also think her inner sparkle is missing. Last year it was there and she was shining. Yes, maybe she's just tired. I hope she's okay. I also wondered that there are no new pics with Bryan. Of course it's private but usually they post pics during Thanksgiving and the Christmas season. We'll see. I have to agree with this Bradley. There is something missing this year or season I should say. She looks like she is going through the motions and is perhaps on "auto pilot". I hope she is ok. Her sparkle is a miss this year and I can feel it almost like the first year at the Beacon where she geared up singing Hero and she was separated from Nick. I wonder if her and Bryan took a break to see how things went and decided to officially end the relationship recently. I just hope she is ok. This is her time and she always has that sparkle in her eye and seeing her almost blank makes me sad. Maybe she is just tired of this and not in the mood this season. It happens to all of us. But as a day one 1990 fan, M always wears her heart on her sleeve and we can read her better than anyone else. We love you Mariah - go out there and have some amazing shows making amazing memories with your beautiful children by your side.
